In 2015, Dr Almusawy became the lead consultant in haematology at Bedford Hospital, where he led haematology services, and also was chair of the haemostasis and thrombosis committee, and MDT meetings ( 3 weekly MDT meetings Leukaemia &Myeloma, Lymphoproliferative diseases, and MPN disorders) in collaboration with Addenbrooke's Hospital.

In recent years Dr Almusawy works as the Senior Consultant haematologist and Head of Specialty at London Northwest University Hospital NHS Trust. Additionally, he holds the position of Honorary Senior Clinical Teacher at Imperial College and serves as the Chief Research Investigator in the UK. With 25 years of Western experience, including 20 years in Haematology, he has undergone extensive training at various centers and trusts in the UK. His qualifications include a Master's degree in Haemoglobinopathy Science from UCL London and dual fellowships in General Internal Medicine (FRCP) and Haematology (FRCPath).
