About Dr. Gary Stiefel
Dr Gary Stiefel has been a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust since 2012. He is the current lead for the Childrens’ allergy service. It is one of the largest clinics in the UK and offers a comprehensive service.
Gary undertook his medical training at the University of Birmingham and in 2012 completed specialist training in Paediatric Allergy. During his training he worked at both St Mary’s Hospital, London and University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust and also completed an Allergy MSc at Imperial College London.
Gary was the lead author for the BSACI national guidelines on nut allergy and was involved in
changing the legislation allowing schools to be able to hold generic Adrenaline Autoinjectors alongside Allergy UK and Anaphylaxis UK. In 2020 he led a national British Paediatric Surveillance Unit (BPSU) RCPCH study into FPIES. He is actively involved in peanut desensitisation studies and currently recruiting patients for The Natasha Clinical Trial offering milk and peanut oral immunotherapy.
Gary has previously served as a RCPCH specialist advisory committee members for Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases (2014-2019). He has been a trustee for Allergy UK since 2019 and is the current Health Advisory Board Chair since October 2024.
Gary is actively involved in teaching locally & regionally and regularly lectures on the Allergy MSc at University of Southampton. His interests include food allergy, eczema, allergic rhinitis (including hay fever) and Oral and aeroallergen immunotherapy.
Gary is a member of the BSACI (British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology) and the EAACI
(European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology).

I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you. Eczema can impact on children and the whole family and it’s important to ensure you explore treatment options and potential trigger. The biggest problem with eczema is under treatment and allergy can be a contributing factor but very unlikely to be the main cause.

Came for my daughter's allergy review. 2nd time seeing Dr Sriefel and he was as friendly and knowledgeable as ever. He answered all of my questions and demonstrated how to use the jext again. He made sure i was comfortable with all new information and printed out leaflets for me to review at home.

We had a fantastic experience recently when we saw Dr Steifel to discuss potential allergies for my almost 2 year old daughter. He was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable - you can tell he is very passionate about his expertise and helping children and their families. Our eldest daughter was diagnosed with a cows milk allergy from a very young age and it was a constant battle to get support for her - I wish I had found Dr Steifel back then! He is honestly a breath of fresh air and I feel very fortunate that we have seen him, I would recommend him to anybody looking for help and support in this field. Both Dr Steifel and the nurse who did the skin prick test on my daughter were extremely friendly and welcoming, as well as very accommodating and patient with my young daughter (even getting the colouring pens out), I cannot thank you both enough! Extremely positive experience - if you are looking for support in children’s allergies in the Cambridge area then I thoroughly recommend Dr Steifel’s clinic!
