    Miss Javeria Iqbal

    General Surgeon

    5.0

    Verified

I would like to share my heartfelt experience with Miss Javeria Iqbal, because the care, skill, and compassion she has shown me throughout my breast cancer journey has been nothing short of life-changing. Being diagnosed with breast cancer was one of the most frightening moments of my life. Everything felt overwhelming — the uncertainty, the fear, the endless questions running through my mind. But the moment I met Miss Iqbal, something inside me shifted. She brought a calm, gentle reassurance that instantly put me at ease. She spoke to me with kindness, understanding, and total honesty, and from that first meeting I knew I was in the safest hands possible. Throughout every stage of my treatment, Miss Iqbal treated me with dignity and genuine care. She didn’t just explain things; she made sure I truly understood them. She listened to my worries, answered every question, and never made me feel rushed or dismissed. She treated me as a person, not just a patient, and that made all the difference during such an emotional and challenging time. As for the surgery itself — I am still in complete awe. The results have been absolutely amazing, far beyond anything I could have hoped for. The precision, skill, and detail in her work are mind-blowing. I am so pleased and relieved with the outcome. She didn’t just operate on me; she helped give me back my confidence, my comfort, and a sense of myself that I thought I might lose. I will never be able to thank her enough for that. What stands out most about Miss Iqbal is not only her exceptional surgical expertise, but the compassion and warmth she brings to her work. She made me feel strong when I felt weak, supported when I felt scared, and cared for when I felt alone. She carried me through one of the hardest chapters of my life with kindness, patience, and unwavering professionalism. I will forever be grateful to Miss Javeria Iqbal and her incredible team. She has changed my life in ways I can’t fully put into words. If you are facing breast cancer and searching for a surgeon who is not only extraordinarily skilled but truly compassionate, I could not recommend Miss Iqbal more. She is exceptional in every way. Many thanks again Helen B and family x

It's not fair that being an NHS patient meant that we couldnt use the disabled parking, which was empty, right outside the hospital, meaning a much longer and uncomfortable walk. We we greeted well upon arrival and called through almost immediately. Although I found the nurse abrupt and abrasive to start with, I put this down to her working from the computer, checking through info. Perhaps that wasn't her strong point with technology. I have many complex needs, including some communication needs, being ADHD and Autistic. I clearly hadn't understood some of the portal questions and answered them differently to its intended expected responses. Perhaps some more understanding around neurodivergent conditions would be helpful and clarity around the context of their questioning, rather than to feel berated for replying "I fear spiders". The question asked for my fears or what I am scared of, if it was specifically regarding the procedure, it should have been clearer. I was clearly struggling with the bright lights in the office, holding my srm up to shield my eyes from the lighting, even commenting to my daughter who I took with me, my questionnaire replies would have told her I am photophobic, but because of how she initially presented to me, I felt unable to raise my concerns and ask for the lights to be adjusted. (This resulted in triggering a migraine after I left). Im still working on advocating for my own needs. Once the computer work was complete and she faced me to go through expectations of the operation day, she mellowed and warmed, her body language positively changed. This helped reduce my heightened anxiety. She was very good when it came to taking my bloods and I didnt even feel it, for the first time ever. I left feeling far less anxious than I did upon arrival.

The admissions brochure fails to state that family members are not allowed to stay with patients during the pre-operative wait. This is a significant omission, as it creates avoidable anxiety for patients who are already nervous about their procedure and are only informed of this restriction upon arrival. The pre-op nurses showed poor bedside manner when I asked about this. Instead of offering reassurance, they quoted “hospital policy” and then gave reasons that felt dismissive and inaccurate — for example, claiming that “too many people come in and out of rooms,” when in reality only one nurse completed paperwork, followed later by the surgeon and anaesthetist. I was also told I would be going to theatre “shortly,” even though I knew (correctly) that I would be waiting another 1.5 hours. My family member could easily have stayed with me during that entire period, as is standard in the Ulster Independent Clinic and in my previous NHS experiences. The lack of engagement from the pre-op nurse beyond basic paperwork questions made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. The pods themselves felt more like small, bare cells than a calming space prior to surgery — no TV, no artwork, just two chairs and a table. It was far from a soothing environment. In contrast, the theatre staff and post-op nurses were outstanding. They were friendly, proactive, and reassuring, and they made up for the negative pre-operative experience. One final issue: the staff arranging my discharge medication did not check my notes and prescribed a medication I am unable to take. Because the pharmacy had already closed, the only solution was to remove it from the prescription entirely.

    Raynaud's Clinic

I was very pleased to find out about this clinic and have it so local to me, I found out through a Raynaud's Facebook group. I was able to self refer. I am an NHS nurse with experience in vascular and tissue viability but felt like I still had some questions as I had gone through an acute episode last weather resulting in requiring interventions. I felt I had some questions that wasn't really getting explained to me from my rheumatologist and also the tests were not available on my nhs appointments/trust, so it helped give me a picture of how severe my Raynaud's was and advice for next steps. I have both Raynaud's and Sjogren's. I found both Louise and Dr Howell very knowledgeable and thorough, they took time to listen and explain. I felt supported throughout the appointment. I left much more informed and reassured. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone dealing with Raynaud's.

I reached out to Nadira at one of the hardest times of my life and literally had no support/help from her whatsoever. As she continually reminds everyone she is a full time mother and a full time NHS GP I don’t understand how she thinks she has the time to open a menopause clinic as she has shown me. Takes weeks to reply to any correspondence. Also she certainly has NHS GP mentality on any HRT. She has no up to date knowledge and is very nervous and unsure whilst in a consultation with her. She quoted lots of things that were wrong and outdated as new evidence has suggested. I would not waste your money and go to Menopause specialist who is only doing this full time.

I was struggling to get a face to face appoinment with my NHS GP. Filling out their triage forms where tick boxes didn’t cover half my symptoms and not enough room in the comments to describe my issues and concerns was getting me nowhere. So I decided to go private. Daleswood was recommended to me by a friend. I was happy to pay for a 30min consultation where I could go through the history and symptoms I was experiencing. It was well worth it, blood tests were recommended and a diagnosis made that explained all the symptoms not just one or two. I was so relieved to finally have been listened to and believed. Not just told ‘we only deal with one thing at a time’

I had the privilege of being treated by Prof. Allam, who quickly and accurately diagnosed me with Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome, a rare condition. I chose to undergo surgical repair, and from start to finish, Prof. Allam was exceptional. He explained the risks clearly, answered every question with patience, and made time to reassure me and check on my progress. His care during this major surgery and throughout the recovery was truly outstanding. I’m now completely symptom-free, and I couldn’t recommend Prof. Allam and his team more highly.

He explained everything in a way that I could understand and helped me make informed decisions about my health. I was quite nervous about surgery but Mr Duncan put me at ease and made me feel very comfortable about the procedure. My recovery has been great and I am so pleased with the care I received. I would recommend him to everyone. Thank you Mr Duncan.

Jonathan was very helpful, he clearly explained the conditions in both my eyes, one with muscle problems, the other with astigmatism, plus both are long and short sighted and both have cataracts. Quite complicated but he really helped me understsnd it all! Also I was lucky there was a free slot for a cataract operation in my right eye the next day, which he also explained thoroughly, so kind and helpful, made me ferl far less nervous and more at ease about the treatment.

I had a raised spot on my arm which was diagnosed as actinic keratosis- precancerous cells. GP recommend cream but didn’t want to use due to side effects. Dr Gupta was very professional and had a very caring and kind disposition. She used cryotherapy on the area which was only mildly uncomfortable for a few seconds and then checked the rest of my body for me. Thoroughly recommend and have booked my husband for a body check! Thank you ☺️

Arrived in the Spencer outpatient dept for my preassessment appointment they said I was in the wrong area needed to be upstairs in the ward which when I asked how to get there they arranged for a nurse to come and collect me to take me where I should have been. They were all very nice kept making sure I was okay while waiting and the members of staff in the ward were so helpful friendly couldn’t have asked for anything better.

When i went to the appointment I was unaware that I was having all that i had done. I had not recieved a message or letter explaining what was going to be done during this appointment. I found out at the appointment. I believe that I should of been told prior to the appointment. I would have prepared myself before the operation of what to expect. The appointment itself was very friendly and professional all through.
