About Professor Christopher Boos

I am a Consultant Cardiologist who has worked at Poole and the royal Bournemouth Hospitals since 2008. I graduated from Imperial College London before undertaking junior doctor posts across London, Surrey, and Hampshire. My specialist cardiology training began within the Wessex Deanery and later continued in the West Midlands, where I completed a research MD at the University of Birmingham on Cardiovascular risk. Therafter, I undertook advanced training in heart failure and device therapy at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

I also obtained a PhD (Bournemouth University) on the issue of cardiovascular risk and high altitude exposure. I am a keen researcher and I have published over 170 papers in peer-reviewed journals. I am a Visiting Professor at Imperial College London, Bournemouth University, Leeds Beckett University, and St George’s University in Grenada, as well as Visiting Researcher at King’s College London.

My clinical expertise includes the management of heart failure, bradyarrhythmias, complex cardiac pacing (including cardiac resynchronisation therapy and implantable cardioverter defibrillators), the breathlessness patient, SportsCcardiologyand Cardiovascular Risk Assessment.

In addition to my busy NHS work and academic roles, I am the Armed Forces Civilian Consultant Advisor in Cardiology, supporting the delivery of specialist cardiovascular care to service personnel. I am the President of the Poole Heart Support Group.

Overall the experience was very positive because it the consultation happened very quickly after I made the request and it covered a great deal of information quickly. On reflection, I feel the anxiety I was feeling inhibited me in responding thoughtfully enough to some of his questions. I am satisfied that the referrals for further tests is the right path forward.

Professor Boos has been looking after my heart since July 2014, and it’s thanks to his unwavering attention and support that I’m still here! Apart from regular check -ups and consultations, he has selected the best surgeons, including Sam Dawkins who carried out a TAVI and mitral valve repair at The Cleveland Hospital, London. I look forward to many years together! John L.

woman regularly fainted after eating sandwiches or drinking pop, British doctors say in a case report of the unusual case involving stimulation of a cranial nerve. Doctors diagnosed the 25-year-old in after she was repeatedly admitted to hospital between 2001 and 2007 with numerous medical tests that gave normal results. In the Dec. 20 issue of the medical journal The Lancet, cardiologist Dr. Christopher Boos of University Hospital Birmingham and his colleagues said they found she had an unusual swallowing reflex that caused her heart to stop briefly.
