    Dr Arif Aslam

    Dermatologist

I do not often write reviews, only usually to complain ! But I must make an exception for the kind and brilliantly talented Doctor Arif Aslam and his team. I have a recent history of skin lesions/ basal cell and squamous over various parts of my 64 year old female body. I discovered a lump on my nose, an NHS test revealed I had a basal cell carcinoma on the tip. An initial attempt to remove it was unsuccessful, I was told by my NHS registrar that the pathology revealed uncertainty around the edges and an intermingling with the nerves in my nose( my description as I understood it, not theirs!). Surgery was required, I was put on a waiting list….. Anxious about the whole prospect of waiting I was recommended by a number of close friends to contact Doctor Aslam. I am so pleased I did. Within 48 hours I had seen him at Spire, he had confirmed a diagnosis of a number of patches of worrying lesions on my hand, he treated those immediately, there and then! I had been between GP and hospital for months trying to sort this out, yet in a couple of seconds it was dealt with. My nose though was as it transpired, a lot more complicated. I was booked for a surgery by Dr Aslam at the fabulous Leeds clinic , only a couple of weeks to wait. I had the offending lump removed under Mohs procedure. I had never come across this before but Doctor Aslam explained everything to me clearly and was happy to answer any questions. I remember him sitting me down before the op and drawing a pen mark in a circle around the circumference of the tumour, he gave me a mirror and explained he believed these were the edges to cut around. Considering that it was on the tip of my nose, and the circumference was about 1.5 cm, I confess I inwardly gulped. But he said to trust his judgment and I had absolute faith in him. The Doctor doesn’t brag, no swagger, no big shot. Just calm, amusing where appropriate and gets on with the job. The hole created by removing the tumour was plugged with a living transplant from my cheek( again, my description!). Dr Aslam’s manner was such that I had absolute faith in the whole op, his team of ‘Angels ‘ who assisted were clearly trained to a high degree, yet still very compassionate and good humoured. I returned to Leeds for dressing changes and then for my final op again with local anaesthetic. This was 3 weeks or so after the original operation when the ‘ pedicle’ was going to be finally cut and my nose ‘ shaped’. Each op took around an hour or so, at all stages I was treated with respect, kindness and good humoured. I followed Doctor Aslam’s instructions faithfully about resting, he accommodated a dressing changes and then at Blackpool to make it easier for me in spite of his busy schedule. I was able to text him direct if I had any worries, he rang to make sure I was ok after the op. I was able to remove my own dressing 2 days after the separation and shaping. I was absolutely amazed at the neatness of my new nose! I texted the Doctor immediately to tell him I had successfully opened my phone using facial recognition! ( I had been unable to do that since the original operation due to the dressings that were in place to protect my pedicle). Yes, there were stitches running down from edge of nose to chin, but so neat, my nose was better than before( previously scarred by the original attempt to remove the tumour by another doctor). It is now almost 2 months since my first surgery by Doctor Aslam. I am on the mend nicely, back doing all the things I did before. A little more makeup over my stitches scar but this improves all the time. I will be back to see him in around 10 months for final check and discharge but am retaining him for interim checks generally. If it weren’t for Doctor Aslam, I would not have gone down the MOHs route. I was offered an inferior alternative by previous medics that would clearly not have been appropriate in my particular circumstances . Thank you Doctor Aslam and your team. My ordeal is over quickly, successfully and with no big drama. You are a kind , humble and talented consultant. You did what you said you would do all through this process. Rare indeed!

Administrative Coordination & Appointment Hypocrisy The administrative side of the service is currently in a state of chaos. There is a profound lack of coordination that undermines the "private" experience. While individual teams may operate well in isolation, they demonstrate that they are merely a collection of separate silos rather than a single, unified hospital. This fragmentation leads to significant "hassle factors," most notably regarding time management. There is a frustrating double standard: while hospital appointments consistently run late, patients are afforded no such flexibility. If a patient arrives late—often due to the cascading delays of the hospital's own previous appointments—they are immediately told they are late and reprimanded. This asymmetry erodes trust and creates a hostile environment where the patient is penalized for the provider's inefficiencies. NHS Integration and Service Quality The reliance on NHS workers to support the private wing is a major barrier to achieving world-class private services. The current model fails to create a seamless "one hospital" culture. Having staff transition between these two different environments without a unified standard of care means that the specialized, attentive service promised by private healthcare is never truly reached. Staff Attitude & Unprofessional Conduct The most disappointing aspect is the staff's unwillingness to understand the difficulties patients are facing. Interactions often feel rushed and dismissive, with a lack of genuine empathy or responsiveness to personal circumstances. This lack of respect frequently manifests in aggressive body language. It is alarmingly common for staff to physically point their fingers at patients when assigning blame for delays or giving instructions. This accusatory gesture underlines a culture that prioritizes asserting authority over offering care, leaving patients feeling like targets rather than people in need of support.

I highly recommend Dr. Shiroma De Silva-Minor. She is an exceptional oncologist who combines outstanding medical expertise with genuine compassion and empathy. From the very first appointment, she has been an attentive and sensitive listener, always taking the time to understand my concerns and answer questions clearly and thoughtfully. Dr. De Silva-Minor is highly experienced and extremely knowledgeable, and this shows in every aspect of her care. She is consistently reassuring, supportive, and available when needed, which has made an incredibly difficult journey feel far more manageable. Her advice is always clear, practical, and deeply considered, and I have felt completely confident in her guidance and treatment decisions. I also really appreciate her holistic approach to care. Beyond her excellent clinical care, Dr. De Silva-Minor went above and beyond by helping me with important letters for work, government support, and my landlord. This support made a huge difference during a very challenging time and showed just how much she genuinely cares about her patients as whole people, not just diagnoses. I feel very fortunate to be under her care and am deeply grateful for her kindness, dedication, and professionalism. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Shiroma De Silva-Minor to anyone seeking exceptional oncological care and unwavering support.

I booked an appointment with Dr Katie Cowie after being started on HRT by my GP 6months ago. Since then, getting reviews and adjustments in treatment, blood tests has been arduous. Having to re explain my story to a new medical professional each and every time is exhausting. Particularly when you’re incredibly menopausal and you are fully aware the person opposite isn’t really that bothered. It’s exhausting and stressful. Yesterday I walked into my appointment with Dr Katie Cowie. What an amazing experience. To be properly, really listened to and understood. She was incredibly kind and understanding, taking time to listen to what I had been through. She explained my blood results and how that related to my symptoms. She took my medical history any relevant family medical history. We talked through my current treatment and discussed different options available. The decision was very much mine to make, nothing was forced upon me. Prices and delivery options were explained within the appointment and she wrote to my GP to notify them She allowed me plenty of time to go through my list of questions and make sure I had asked everything I wanted to and explained what she wanted to do for follow up. Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr Katie Cowie. I’m at the beginning of my journey with her but I feel well looked after.

We are extremely grateful to Mr Wright who treated our daughter’s arm fracture. He was highly skilled, professional, and very reassuring throughout the whole process. He took the time to explain the injury and treatment clearly, and his calm, caring manner helped both our daughter and our family feel confident and supported. We especially appreciated his thoughtful conservative management and clear guidance on a controlled return to sport. His approach showed real expertise and judgment , recognising that sometimes less is more, and that careful, measured treatment can be the best path to a full recovery. We would also like to thank practice manager Leanne Crichton, who went above and beyond to find us an appointment at short notice and helped to navigate the whole process and efficient communication during treatment. What could have been a very stressful experience was made much easier because of their kindness, patience, and professionalism. We are truly thankful for the excellent care our daughter received and would highly recommend Mr Wright to any child needing orthopaedic treatment.

This was my first time visiting. I came from Chesterfield due to reading the reviews and seeing this seemed like a really good service. I’m happy to say that it is after now going first hand. Even though it’s far away from me I would go back due to the service and care I received. I managed to get booked in the same week I booked. On arrived I was greeted by a lady at reception and was checked in and told to help myself to a drink there is a coffee machine / water etc. I used the bathroom while I was there which was well stocked and very clean. Next was my appointment time and Dr Poonam Pradhan came and called me on meeting her I could feel her warmth and care and she put me at ease straight away. She was very informative and made the whole process a lot smoother and easy as I do have quite high anxiety and it was a smear test. I am very happy with how I was treated here and cannot thank them enough.

🌟 A Remarkable Consultant Who Truly Cares As a patient, I couldn’t have asked for a better consultant. From the moment I walked into the room felt seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. Mr Patrini took the time to understand my worries, and all my questions. That level of compassion is rare, and it made all the difference. His communication was always clear, he explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, without ever making me feel rushed or overwhelmed. When discussing difficult topics, he had a calm, steady manner that helped me feel safe and confident in the plan ahead and always made sure every concern I had was addressed. I left each appointment feeling informed, supported, and hopeful. It’s rare to find a consultant who combines expertise with such humanity, and I’m incredibly grateful for the care I received. Anyone under Mr Patrini’s guidance is in exceptional hands.

Ifi was brilliant with our daughter (nearly 9). She can be very shy with strangers but she put her at ease quickly. In fact, our daughter said she really enjoyed the "play sessions"! Our daughter is high masking and intelligent - to the extent where you start to question if those little things you notice as a parent and others don't are all in your head. Ifi was able to pick up on the subtle differences in how our daughter responded to certain questions that showed just how "well" she's been masking her social understanding. We really appreciated having the examples given to us too. We chose to come to London from Cheshire as we knew how important it was to ensure that our daughter had a comprehensive assessment by experts who can spot masking. It was well worth the visit (and we made a nice trip out of seeing London at the same time!).

I have seen Dr Chris a few times now and it is the best experience I have had with any GP. From the start I felt relaxed, I was listened to, not judged and made to feel like things were in my head. I felt comfortable to ask questions and not made to feel silly. He takes the time to explain everything to you and doesn't rush you. It has definitely restored my faith in going to the doctor because it normally gives me so much anxiety and I normally come away feeling upset but I have never once felt like this with Dr Chris. I feel I have got further in the last year than I have for years with my own GP practice. I would highly recommend if you need an appointment with a GP to use Dr Chris at CAS Medical he really does provide an overall excellent service.

We immediately felt supported by Dr Edwards-Skadowska's warm welcome and structured sessions. We greatly appreciate her ability to quickly find the right words and deliver clear conclusions and explanations. We started consulting at a time when we were unable to resolve conflictual situations, repeating the same patterns of misunderstanding and incommunicability. The two of us instantly felt deeply heard and understood whilst Dr Edwards-Skadowska helped us a lot clarify our differences, gain greater self reflection and change our ways of seeing and reacting. We really needed help and we are very happy we found it in such a caring and professional person.

My mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and we recently met with Dr Perry, a neurologist specialising in dementia. From the moment Dr Perry came to reception to greet us and accompany us to the consulting room, I felt confident that we were in safe hands. He immediately engaged with my mother, greeting her first and directing all questions to her with a reassuring, kind, and respectful manner. His advice and recommendations felt exactly right. My mother usually dislikes medical appointments, but afterwards she said how much she liked him and that she would be very happy to see him again.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in my late 50s by Dr Cappai. The assessment went well even though I was very emotional. In the weeks after my first consultation, I had a break down and I felt very angry for all the years wasted without the right support. I also felt a lot of anger for all the missed opportunities and for the people who have labelled me without second thoughts. I am now working with Dr Cappai and my ADHD coach and am improving my self-love and forgiveness. I will always be grateful to Dr Cappai for her efforts to make me see the light at the end of the tunnel.
