About Dr Simran Grewal
Dr Simran Grewal is a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. He specialises in complex inflammatory arthritis, axial spondyloarthritis and enteropathic arthritis, and has a strong academic and clinical background in sports and exercise medicine. His practice focuses on improving musculoskeletal health, long-term disease control and overall quality of life for patients with chronic rheumatological conditions.
Dr Grewal graduated with distinction from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He completed postgraduate training across several leading NHS trusts, including Guy’s and St Thomas’, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells, and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals, gaining experience in both rheumatology and general internal medicine. He was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2016 and completed the Rheumatology Specialty Certificate Examination in 2020.
He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health from University College London (with distinction), as well as a BSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine from Queen Mary University of London.
Dr Grewal has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics including psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis in men and immune-related sarcoidosis, and has presented at national and international conferences such as the British Society of Rheumatology (BSR) and EULAR. He is GCP-certified and has contributed to clinical trials, including as a sub-investigator in the BRAVE study.
He has led service development initiatives in axial spondyloarthritis and enteropathic arthritis across North East London, improving access to advanced therapies and enhancing multidisciplinary care pathways. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
