Mr Matteo Massanova has been a Consultant Urological Surgeon for two years and specialises in pelvic surgery and pelvic malignancies (prostate and bladder cancer). He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery, with a particular focus on robotic surgery - having performed more than 350 operations as the main surgeon. Currently, Mr Massanova is the only surgeon offering robotic intracorporeal neobladder formation after radical cystectomy (removal of the bladder) in his area.
Mr Massanova is an expert in pelvic surgery, both open and robotic. He has a specific interest in prostate and bladder cancer, from diagnosis (flexible cystoscopy, transperineal prostate biopsy) to treatment (transurethral resection of bladder cancer, radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy with urinary diversion). However, he also treats a range of general urological conditions such as stone disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), circumcision, vasectomy and hydrocele.
Additionally, Mr Massanova has performed over 250 robot assisted radical prostatectomies and 70 radical cystectomies with urinary diversion, via either open or robotic approach. To date, he has also carried out 500 general urology procedures, including stone surgeries, TURPs, circumcisions, repair of hydrocele, removal of epididymal cysts, vasectomy, TURBTs and correction of varicocele.
In addition to his successful clinical work, Mr Massanova is an honorary lecturer for Urology at the University of Naples Federico II. His active involvement in research has resulted in several publications in peer reviewed journals, with a particular focus on robotic surgery, prostate and bladder cancer.

Mr Massanova has always kept me fully informed during pre-op procedures, during my bladder operation and during all reviews subsequent to the operation. I have always found him to have a pleasant manner and always explains all procedures and the reasons for doing them. He also gives the opportunity to ask questions or explain things further.
4.5
Friendly and helpful, with a clear explanation of the procedure involved. Also showed an animated video of the surgery and provided further information on paper to take away, which was all helpful.
