Mr Jae Rhee

Mr. Jae Rhee is a highly esteemed Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgeon with over 20 years of experience, renowned for treating elite athletes, high-profile dancers, and musicians. He earned his medical degree with honours from the Royal Free University College London School of Medicine, followed by basic surgical training at the Middlesex/UCH circuit and advanced orthopaedic training on the prestigious Oswestry program.

Mr. Rhee pursued further specialist fellowship training in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at University College Hospital, London, and Hand and Wrist Surgery at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. He was awarded the distinguished EFORT travelling fellowship to the Karolinska Sports Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, further honing his expertise in sports-related injuries.

Since 2014, Mr. Rhee has served as a Consultant in Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgery at Princess Royal Hospital, where he led the development of the upper limb department. He has recently moved to London and has brought his expertise to South West London. He is a Consultant Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgeon in Croydon Health Services and the world renown South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC / EOC) in Epsom. His surgical interests include arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, shoulder joint replacements, and innovative treatments for rotator cuff injuries, irreparable tears, and biological approaches to upper limb injuries, including biological graft augmentation of rotator cuff repair.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr. Rhee is an Honorary Lecturer at the Institute of Sports Exercise and Health at University College London and has worked as a team doctor for London Saracens Rugby since 2008. He collaborates closely with the Lilleshall International Sports Centre and treats elite athletes from the English Ice Hockey Association and PGA European Golf Tour.

Passionate about research and education, Mr. Rhee has contributed to several orthopaedic textbooks, published widely in his field, and is a reviewer for international journals such as the Bone & Joint Journal. He regularly lectures MSc students at UCL and is a key faculty member for national courses accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr. Rhee also co-organises the London Shoulder Meeting, the largest independent shoulder and elbow conference in the UK.
