Mr. Jan Marciniak is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement surgery, with a particular focus on complex and revision joint replacements. He is also highly experienced in minimally invasive (small-scar) and day-case hip and knee replacements, as well as keyhole (arthroscopic) knee surgery.
Originally from Middlesbrough, Mr. Marciniak studied medicine at the University of Sheffield, where he was awarded the pre-clinical distinction prize and graduated with Honours in 2006. He went on to complete higher surgical training as a Specialist Registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery on the Yorkshire Training Programme, gaining extensive experience across the full spectrum of orthopaedic care.
To further his expertise, Mr. Marciniak undertook two prestigious sub-specialty fellowships — one at the Charnley Hip and Knee Unit in Wrightington, a world-renowned centre for joint replacement, and another at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, where he refined his skills in advanced hip and knee surgery.
In 2018, he was appointed Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, where he continues to provide high-quality, patient-centred surgical care using the latest techniques and innovations in orthopaedics.
