    Mr Jonathan Collier

    Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

    5.0

    Verified

I went to Mr Collier because of issues relating to my jaw and a bite that wouldn't close with orthodontic treatment. This is one of the best decisions I've made. In one surgery, Mr Collier performed a maxillary osteotomy (Le Fort I), fixed issues with my septum and sinuses, and removed my lower wisdom teeth. I'm just over one week post-op and his work has been exceptional; I couldn't be happier with the results. Beyond his surgical abilities, Mr Collier is also one of the best doctors I've had the pleasure of interacting with. Before we committed to surgery, we explored other treatments to help ease my symptoms, like Botox for my TMJ and a dental splint. I always felt listened to, and that he's given me advice and treatment that's genuinely in my best interests. The rest of his team is also brilliant. They're efficient, kind, and have been helpful at every stage. The post-op care from his surgical nurse has been outstanding. Recovery hasn't exactly been simple or easy, but she calls every morning, and by the end of each call, I feel more confident about how things are going. It genuinely makes the start of my day better. Surgery is a big thing, but four hours in an operating theatre with Mr Collier has now set me up for the rest of my life! It couldn't be more worth it. The only piece of advice that I have for future patients is that it will inevitably take longer than you initially expect to get everything organised and ready for surgery. Mr Collier's team will help, but some factors are out of everyone's control, so make sure you give yourself more than enough time.

I attended the hospital to have planned eye surgery consisting of cataract removal, lens replacement and full thickness corneal replacement under general anaesthetic. I arrived early and was allocated to a private ensuite room with secure storage. Nurses confirmed all the necessary checks that had been conducted the previois day in pre-assessment. A nurse applied gel to my hand to numb it ready for a cannula and provided surgical stockings. The anaesthetist visited to re-confirm details and provide reassurance. The surgeon visited to review procedure and risks. The nurse accompanied me to the anaesthesia room and looked after my clothes. After fitting the cannula painlessly, after the anaesthetic I knew nothing until awakening in recovery, with a pad over the affected eye. I was taken back to my room feeling fit and well. Nurses checked on me and provided the refreshments I had ordered. The surgeon visited again to confirm the follow up appointment. Medications were made ready, with post operative guidance. My chaperone arrived to take me home. The whole thing was completed on schedule.

I was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED that the misleading named "Disabled" toilet is still used as a storage centre. I have formally complained about this to the CEO after struggling on a number of occasions to assist my elderly disabled mother. It is too cramped to get a wheelchair and carer in there. Having moved items out into the corridor I then struggled to transfer her from her wheelchair. Naturally she was getting more & more anxious to get on the toilet, knowing that she was about to see a consultant. I suggested to the anxious person outside that he ask to use another toilet. This is a private hospital, built AFTER the Disability Discrimination Act. How did this even pass building regulations & considered acceptable? All the designer had to do was to go next door & copy the design of the disabled toilet in QEQM. We were under enough stress having to attend the hospital appointment. This just compounded the stress for my mother and me. PLEASE attend to this ongoing problem. Why is it taking so long? UTTER DISGRACE & INSULTING to all disabled people and their carers.

I have been seeing Dr Manjaly for bone anchored hearing aid help as I was born with Microtia and Atresia. I am still on my journey and can say that he has been patient and kind throughout, always making sure that I am able to make the best decision and he does so without any pressure. I cannot stress how important that is to me as I have a history of choices taken for me as a child due to my birth defect, so his approach has given me back that agency. Most recently I had the abutment and Cochlear BAHA after a long time considering that and the magnetic option. I opted for the abutment and can definitely say the BAHA has made a huge difference to my life. After two years of having it, for me there is discomfort and some pain so I returned to Dr Manjaly and we are going to go in a direction to first remove the abutment, let it heal to check that it isn't something else causing the pain/discomfort, and depending on the outcome try the magnetic option. While to me this irrationally feels like I've failed, he was kind and supportive.

Recent visit was ok. My Nurses could have been better organised. On arrival no one was there to greet me despite being told to be there at 7.30 am I wasn’t told no one could come up and wait with you or be present after my procedure. The room for pre theatre and after theatre was far too small for 3 beds to be in it. It was also flat too hot in the room making me feel worse.. Unprepared for someone feeling unwell after the procedure. I did feel very rushed after my procedure despite feeling unwell! The doctor on shift however was very good. Nurses rushing to finish their shift in theatre to hand me over made me feel uneasy. Nurse looking after me rushing me out the door as it was past 8pm. I was worried about leaving as still felt pretty unwel. Overall was not tailored to my needs Surgeon & anaesthetist very good can’t fault them at all. Made me feel very at ease before my procedure.

I recently underwent a hernia repair performed by Mr Keeling, and I am very happy with the care I received. From the beginning, he offered clear explanations about the procedure, what to expect, and the recovery process. His manner was reassuring and professional, which helped me feel confident and at ease. During my consultations, Mr Keeling took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and made sure I understood each step. On the day of surgery, his calm and approachable attitude gave me great reassurance. My recovery has gone smoothly, and I feel that this is a reflection of both his surgical skill and the clear guidance he provided. I am grateful for his expertise and the way he communicated with me throughout the process. Overall: I would highly recommend Mr Keeling. He combined excellent surgical care with clear, patient‑focused communication, which made a big difference to my experience.

I arrived 10 minutes early and found a parking space opposite the main entrance. I reported to reception who directed me the check in where I was booked in and directed to the waiting area. Only a couple of minutes later I was called for my scan, shown where to put my belongings and then directed to the MRI scanning room. Here I was explained thoroughly what would happen and then I went into the scanner for 15-20 minutes. When I came out I was told my results would be sent to my doctor in about 2 weeks and then advised I was free to go home. I have no complaints and don’t think you could improve on the service. Very well done to you all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bernie.

My experience at the hospital was excellent from start to finish. The room was extremely comfortable and well appointed, which certainly helped with rest and recovery, but what truly made the experience exceptional was the nursing team. The nurses were absolutely superb in every way — kind, attentive, professional, and endlessly patient. Nothing was ever too much trouble, no matter the time of day or how small the request. I was made to feel safe, cared for, and genuinely supported throughout my stay. I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding care I received and would not hesitate to recommend this hospital to others.

This was my first experience of private health care. All staff are welcoming the clinic is very clean. It was self service to Refreshments but that's not to clear. I think it would've been nicer to be offered a beverage when you check in. I found myself being forced into this option as the nhs weren't listening. I met with Dr. Howie (GP) I found it such a relief just to be heard. It has only taken 1 visit and 1 review appointment to help with my menopause issues. i have been suffering for many years and it has ovly taken 3 months to solve going private. Thank you!!

I reached out to Doctor Ramcharan to see my 10 year old Son who has Cerebral Palsy and is experiencing a lot of chest pain. Doctor Ramcharan saw him very quickly, he listen to my son and listen to us (Parents), he read all my notes and concerned, he gave him a thorough examination, ECG and Echocardiogram. He spent a lot of time checking everything, and taking pictures of the results. He discuss the results with us all and in layman's terms both for us and for our son. He put our minds at ease. I would highly recommend seeing Dr Ramcharan.

Consult over pain and lack of mobility - Mr Gordon performed an op for varicoceles recently at Spire hospital Leeds. Can't recommend him highly enough. Op was performed as a day case and we we were able to drive home (1.45 hours drive)without experiencing any pain. From being unable to walk 100 metres without experiencing severe pain before the op, I have my life back. It feels miraculous and I can enjoy a full social life, travel to work and a huge lift in my mental wellbeing. Can't praise enough and I will forever be grateful.

Can’t fault the surgery team or the staff on the children's ward. The care and treatment my son received has been amazing! The only thing that was far from great was the long waiting time for an MRI scan after the injury happened and the 3 month wait for surgery after the results. I feel Zak suffered a lot hiring this time and I don’t think patients especially minors should wait that long for important surgery. I do realise that sadly this is a poor governmental factor within the Uk though and not fault of the NHS… 😢

There won’t be enough space here for me to do justice to Mr Tom Setchell. It is rare to find a Dr who is a technical genius coupled with a perfect blend of warmth and professionalism in his bedside manner. I trust his judgement entirely and have complete confidence in him. He deservedly has the very best reputation as a leading UK Obs and Gynae surgeon and if you are lucky enough to find yourself in his care you, like me, will feel incredibly fortunate that you found yourself way to him.

I saw Mr Sahu on Thursday 4th December 2025 I was terrified frightened what was going to become of my eye's. What a man, a gentleman a true professional who took his time to explain in detail what was wrong with my eyes and what could be done to help me. It's going to take time to go through procedures and operations, but at the end of the day if my eyes have been saved it will be entirely down to Mr Debendra Sahu, thankyou Sir. There was a lack of clear simple explanations as to what actions I had to take on the day after seeing the consultant. The waiting area is near reception and staff were noisy and quite intrusive. I was sent to St Olaf’s for an ecg. The technician was excellent. As I walk over yet another HCA registration arrives for that appointment.
