Mr. John Terrace is a Consultant Surgeon with a wealth of experience in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2001 and went on to complete extensive training in general surgery in Edinburgh, including earning a PhD. He has substantial experience in performing hernia surgeries of all types, as well as gallbladder and gallstone surgeries. Mr. Terrace is a committed member of the British Hernia Society, promoting high standards in hernia surgery, and the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons, representing excellence in adrenal surgery. I could not rate the care and service any higher. Thank you
I was pleased with the explanations to my questions and did not feel the appointment was being rushed in any way
I was very happy with the service I received from Mr Terrace. He clearly explained the treatment, the likely outcome and the risks. I was especially pleased that he dropped by the ward the following morning to check my progress and to address my concerns.
John was very professional and was clear on what would happen during my operation.
Throughout both my consultation and at the pre-operative meeting, Mr Terrace took the time to provide a full explanation of my procedure, including making me aware/reminding me of the risks involved, the expected process immediately after the procedure - I found this greatly reassuring and it helped quell my anxiety. On the morning after the procedure, Mr Terrace followed up with me to check how I was and let me know how the procedure went. He also gave an explanation of the post-operative care required for my condition, how to take appropriate care of my wounds on my return home, and answered the questions I had surrounding timescales on getting back to work and "normal" eating, drinking etc. Mr Terrace has since contacted me to check how recovery was going, and I have a follow-up appointment arranged in the near future. I would highly recommend Mr Terrace to anyone considering booking him to perform their procedure - friendly, professional, informative, straightforward and reassuring.
I was a bit apprehensive about my hernia op but my surgeon John Terrace put me at ease right from the first consultation by explaining everything & his easy bedside manner. I knew I was in safe hands. I’m so glad it was John who performed my procedure.
At all stages, Mr Terrace was pleasant, professional, very clear on diagnosis, options, risks, likely outcomes, the proposed procedure and subsequent considerations. He was happy to answer all of the questions that I had. Discussion was 2 way and unhurried. The standard of care in the Spire hospital was excellent, Mr Terrace was very attentive and the operation appears to have gone well. My interactions with Mr Terrace consisted of initial consultation, pre-operation discussion, post-operation discussion and pre-discharge discussion. I found this level of contact to be very reassuring. He was also very clear that I continued to be under his care for a period after discharge and provided details on how to contact him, should I wish to discuss anything. This was appreciated.
Great session, totally put at ease with what needs to happen.
