Mr Michael Hughes

I searched a fair few consultants' profiles then settled on approaching Mr Hughes mainly due to the extent of my confidence that I would still be in safe hands should something go wrong, as things unforeseen can, due to his military training and trauma surgery experience with such. At what felt like an equitable initial consultation, he was kind, understanding, direct, informative, and willing to work with me on timing. Not long thereafter, on the day of surgery, Mr Hughes' pre-theatre visit put me at ease again. Then, most importantly, he did what he said he would, and told me so afterwards, without any nonsense, and all is well now here, as confirmed during aftercare. Michael has my highest recommendation.

I can’t speak highly enough of Mr Michael Hughes. From the first time I met Mike, he was incredibly reassuring, down to earth and easy to talk to. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions and made me feel completely confident that I was in very good hands. I’d been having repeated problems with my gallbladder and was facing a very long wait on the NHS, so being able to have the operation privately with Mike made such a difference. The surgery went completely smoothly and my recovery has gone really well too, including the healing of my wounds. What really stood out for me was how personable he was. I genuinely felt that he cared about how I was doing, both before the operation and afterwards. I’m so relieved to finally have my gallbladder out and, for me, it was absolutely worth every penny. I saw Dr Hughes for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. He talked through all of the options available to me and was happy to answer any questions or concerns I had. He has an incredibly kind and caring manner and I felt very well looked after.

I saw Michael for a hernia operation. All communication from initial appt to follow ups post op were great. He was very clear on what I should expect and next steps along the way.

I had been experiencing issues for almost two years, having many tests but no real diagnosis, when I arranged my first consultation with Mr Hughes. I found him to be very approachable and professional, and he was able to reassure me and pinpoint the likely source of the issues at that consultation. An MRI was booked, however events overtook the timing of this and my local ED found my gallbladder to be the problem, confirming Mr Hughes's initial thoughts. By this time, some of the atypical symptoms presenting were severely impacting my life, and Mr Hughes made a huge effort to fit me in for surgery earlier than his schedule would usually allow. For this compassion, I am incredibly grateful. The surgery was breeze, the incision sites are tiny faint lines that I expect to heal to invisibility and the procedure gave immediate relief from the pain that has been life changing. I will have no hesitation in arranging a consultation again should I be unfortunate enough to suffer further gastric/abdominal issues.
