About Mr David Griffiths

Mr David Griffiths is a senior and well-known consultant gynaecologist practising in both the NHS and the private sector. With nearly 40 years of experience, he completed his formative training in the Midlands, followed by his first clinical fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and IVF at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds.

Mr Griffiths was awarded a Fellowship in Urogynaecology & Pelvic Floor Reconstruction, which took him to Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. After completing his fellowship, he trained at the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, Georgia, worked in New Zealand, and then returned to the UK to complete his training.

Known for his approachable manner and excellent communication, Mr Griffiths encourages a personal, holistic approach—supporting patients in a comfortable, relaxed setting.

His specialist interests include:

  • Pelvic pain and endometriosis
  • Menstrual disorders
  • Pelvic floor problems
  • Urinary incontinence

Mr Griffiths was the first gynaecologist in the UK to offer the non-invasive Endosure test for endometriosis, and he supports clinics across the UK. He is also an accredited British Menopause Society specialist and trainer.

As an expert surgeon, Mr Griffiths performs over 300 operations each year, specialising in advanced and complex laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic floor reconstruction, and other benign conditions.

He is also the Medical Director of The Hysterectomy Centre—the first and only dedicated centre of its kind in the UK, supported by a committed multidisciplinary team.

Mr Griffiths is married and has four daughters.

From the moment we made contact to book the Endosure test we were impressed with the swift response time and clear explanation that was provided on how to book the test. The medical staff that carried out the test were gentle and kind during the testing process which made all the difference to my young daughter. Our follow up consultation with Mr Griffiths provided a range of options to help manage the condition and was conducted with care and sensitivity. My daughter felt much better after the appointment knowing that we had been able to discuss her symptoms which were properly considered and acknowledged as Endometriosis. The level of care and compassion shown has been exceptional. Thank you.

A delight, as always. Mr Griffiths was not referred me to a few years ago by my GO because he is not local to me. Rather I did my research and 'found' him having had the need for a hysterectomy delivered in a highly insensitive manner. David Griffiths turned a negative experience into a positive one. I continue to see him annually for HRT and continue to feel the 3hour round trip worthwhile.

I had the pleasure of talking to Dr David Griffiths, and it was ultimately the best decisions I’ve made for myself. I was extremely nervous going into the appointment, especially where I haven’t had the best experiences with seeking help. But this appointment has completely changed my perspective. Dr Griffiths was friendly, kind and incredibly thorough. He took the time to listen to me and made me feel heard and supported, and answered every single question, and there were many. For me, the biggest thing is having someone who understands and believes you, and genuinely is there to help you. Being dismissed in the past, having this level of care and support was and is a huge deal for me. I am so grateful for the time and support he gave me and the experience I had, I cannot thank him enough!

Mr Griffiths recently performed excision surgery for my endometriosis. During every consultation leading up to the surgery he was attentive and listened to all my worries and questions. I felt like he empathised with me and wanted to help in anyway he could. The surgery itself went very well and the consultation after surgery was reassuring. Mr Griffiths has made me feel listened to and has helped me a lot.

My first visit to Mr Griffiths was 5 years ago and at that point I was having difficulty functioning, he totally understood and I went on the HRT medication, my life completely changed. This time I didn’t hesitate to see Mr Griffiths as I feel he is so understanding, kind and thorough. Within 3 days initial appointment, scan and review appointment everything was sorted. Mr Griffiths has given me treatment and peace of mind. Thank you
