    Mr John Ferris

    Ophthalmologist

Having suffered from very poor long vision I had laser surgery in both eyes about 18 years ago which for the first 7 or 8 years was exceptional and I achieved better than 20:20 vision. However, the myopia came back and while no where near as bad, it was annoying having to wear glasses or contact lenses again. Over the last couple of years I found that my near vision which was exceptional, became blurred when wearing contacts or glasses and I was on the brink of having to have various different pairs of glasses to cope with the changes. It was at this point that I started to investigate intraocular lens replacement. I researched this on and off for probably a year before I had a really good conversation with my optician and she gave me a recommendation of John. The recommendation was the missing piece for me and having read his reviews and the excellent information on his website, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue further. The initial chat with John was very informative and he kindly replied to my many questions giving full and clear answers. He was also very clear and honest from the onset of what the possible complications could be. For me this was the fact that my eyes were still myopic in shape and that I had previously had laser surgery. These areas were discussed further in our face to face meeting and having carring out a full examination, I booked surgery straight away. The wait for surgery was nerve racking and exciting in equal measures and I had chosen to get both eyes done at the same time. I also chose the Galaxy lenses as my goal was to be free of glasses and contact lenses. The procedure was carried out at Tetbury hospital which is a wonderful cottage hospital which has a very warm and welcome feeling. Alll the nurses and team there were incredibly supportive as was John who came over to say hello and administer the anesthetic drops about 30 mins before surgery. The surgery took about 45mins to an hour which included a short break inbetween eyes for all equipment to be changed. Initially you see a very bright light and feel some pressure, I had a mild bit of discomfort on one eye as we were coming to the end of the procedure but noting unpleasant. After having the first eye done, I was sat up and to be honest you see very little other than light, shadows and it looks like you have lots of water in your eye, that is the only way I can describe it. For a short time my vision was also tinted slightly orange which cleared quickly. By the time the other eye had been done, plastic goggles stuck to your face to protect the eyes, the first eye operated on was much clearer. There was no pain. The following morning it was a very bright and sunny day and there was some minor pain everytime my eyes had to adjust to light. I spent the next couple of days indoors, sometimes wearing some sun glasses which really helped. John's call at the end of the first day confirmed that everything was fine and apart from some gritty/itchy feeling, all the symptoms quickly subsided. Lots of drops supplied along with a handy reminder sheet really helped. At the four week checkin John informed me that the results were excellent and I have better than 20:20 vision for both close, medium and long distance. Some days things can be a bit blurry but this is apparently as the brain gets used to the lenses and this process can take up to 9 months. However, the results were amazing and I can't believe that this is my eyesight for the rest of my life. Lots of people have asked me what it was like, did I have my eye balls injected? Can I feel the lenses in my eyes? Did I see the knife as it cut my eye open? I can confirm that the process was a lot less terrifying than the nature of those questions and not as dramatic! I would recommend this procedure and especially John as a surgeon in a heart beat. It is life changing and brilliant to have John and his excellent team there to support and guide you through the process. I also have to recommend the fabulous service you also receive from his PA Carole-Anne, you are very well looked after.

Receptionist was absolutely lovely and really friendly and helpful. The building and facilities were all excellent and kept clean and tidy. The consultant I saw was extremely rude, arrogant and judgemental. There were several comments he made that shocked me and that made me feel very uncomfortable to the point I almost walked out mid appointment. There was very little sympathy or mindfulness of my injury and he came across extremely judgemental in the assumptions he made about the level of sport I played, what I could afford, and several other things. I actually play semi-professionally and have represented our country in World Championships in the sport I play, and I also have a law degree and accountancy qualification which I did not mention as quite frankly it is irrelevant. It was apparent he took a dislike to me for whatever reason from the start and the whole experience was very uncomfortable. His behaviour aside, he is clearly very knowledgeable and good at what he does. Reading between the lines I got the answer I needed. This hospital was recommended to me by one of your previous patients and I was lucky to get booked in through an NHS referral but after my experience I would never return for any issue and am relieved I didn't pay to go private.

I would not go back to this dental practice again.. I was booked in to have an extraction by a surgeon who I have since found out only comes in on a Tuesday. I was not that impressed with her bedside manner or the Nurse.. I was extremely traumatised and told them I was nervous. The extraction took a really long time and was not an easy removal and was extremely uncomfortable. I was shaking like a leaf and afterwards,, I was basically dismissed and sent away without being offered any form of empathy. I’ve since had terrible problems and I’m in a lot of pain four days later. I rang the dentist this morning. who then informed me that the surgeon only comes in once a week and I needed to go back to my own dentist, which is quite a drive away. I’m not impressed at all and would definitely not return. Also, the Dental practice is obviously undergoing some sort of renovation. The waiting room was a blank white room with no window extremely uninviting, no music not good when you are an extremely nervous patient waiting to have a horrible procedure done .not a good experience for me I’m afraid.

We travelled a long distance for a specialist blood test for my daughter, and I cannot express how grateful I am for the care we received here. Dr. Fiona Moore who looked after us was truly exceptional — so kind, patient, and deeply respectful with my child. She gave Madison all the time she needed to feel safe and ready, explained everything gently and clearly, and never applied any pressure. Her friendly, calm manner made an experience that could have been very stressful into something positive and manageable. The staff at the clinic were also wonderful — welcoming, understanding, and very supportive throughout our visit. Everyone treated us with kindness and professionalism, which made such a difference to our day. It’s rare to meet a doctor and team who combines such professional skill with genuine warmth and understanding, and we felt completely supported from beginning to end. We are so thankful for the way we were cared for, and would highly recommend this practice to anyone.

Doctor Khanna who I met 5 months prior is very direct, professional and confident which I liked because it showed me his passion and commitment to his craft. The day of the surgery when he came to speak to me and tell me what was going to happen he again was direct and confident. He spoke very clearly and I felt very informed of what was going to happen which gave me an assertive and positive assurance in his ability to perform the surgery which went amazingly well. I had no worry or anxiety about the surgery leading up to it and am extremely grateful to Doctor Khanna and his team for performing the surgery and fixing my hernia. His work is extremely neat and tidy, which also gives me confidence in my ability to heal. Thank you again for all your help.

I have phone appointments and video call reviews with Dr Umoh and genuinely couldn’t speak more highly of him. I recently had some unexpected medical changes and he managed to accommodate me at very short notice, which made a huge difference. Even when I need something later than ideal, he always goes out of his way to make sure I’m fully supported and never left waiting. He takes my wider medical situation into account each time, which makes the whole process feel safe and well-managed. He’s consistently thoughtful, clear, and incredibly committed, and every call is handled professionally and efficiently.

My experience overall was very good. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the Receptionist in the Imaging Department (Basement) was off-hand, unhelpful and unfriendly. My only other complaint is that I was told that it is never possible to speak to anyone in accounts regarding invoicing, whether it is face to face or on the telephone. This is an unacceptable practice which upsets a lot of people. The thought of not being able to sort out any invoicing issues except by email is a worry to many, especially older people.

I went to see Doctor Akeel Alisa with great expectations and I have said it to him on our first clinic appointment that he is my last hope of finding out what is causing my symptoms noting that I was seen by other gastroenterologists in past. He was very empathetic and careful listened to the chronology of my symptoms. He conducted the relevant investigations and started treatment. I told him that a I am very pleased with outcome and at last I feel much better. Thank you so much Dr Alisa

I recently saw Dr. Tasha Gandamihardja for a short visit, and even in that short time she made a wonderful impression. She was warm, reassuring, and instantly made me feel comfortable and at ease. Her calm and caring manner helped take away any nerves I had, and she explained everything clearly without making me feel rushed. Even though the appointment was brief, her kindness and professionalism really stood out. I’m truly grateful for the care she provided.

Thoroughly impressed with The Harborne Hospital. The moment you walk in you know you’ve entered a place that really cares. Ultra clean, comfortable and welcoming. Every member of staff had a smile on their faces. As a designer I pay attention to detail and hats off to the person who decided to place Temple Spa scents in the waiting area. Made feel like I was in a 5 star hotel. Such a lovely and pleasant atmosphere. Totally forgot I was in a hospital.

I had a Carpal Tunnel operation to my left wrist done by Mr Andrew Logan at St Julian’s and was made very comfortable as every step of the process was explained clearly. I was extremely nervous as this procedure was done with local anaesthetic but I didn’t feel anything. I was very happy with my experience and was treated with care and consideration both by Mr Logan and all the staff, thank you all.

Came in for full health check. Appointment was on time. Staff very friendly. O was offered a hot drink before I sat down. Staff asked if I minded using AI technology to record my consultation. Process was explained to me. I asked if I could be tested for allergy. The Staff found out for me and, for extra charge, arranged for further bloods to be tested for allergy. Check was completed in good time.
