Name: Patricia H. H. Patient ID: xxxxxxx Consultant: Mr Graham Bailie On Monday 8 December 2025 I visitied No. 6 Lisburn Road to have my wound reviewed. I recently had a full hip replacement with a wound on my hip with approximately 10 staples. The wound was reveiwed and reported that it was mending very satisfactorily. The original dressing on the wound was 30cm x 10cm. When the nurse was finishing examining the wound, she replaced the dressing with a smaller one - 15.5cm x 8.5 cm. She Spent some time stretching the smaller dressing to get it to cover all the staples in the wound. That evening, I experienced great pain with my wound. When I touched it through my clothing, the skin was extremely tender. Eventually, I removed the dressing to find extensive bruising at either side of the wound. It appears, that by stretching the smaller dressing to cover the staples, the wound itself had become extremely aggravated and angry. I replaced the dressing with a larger dressing. Within a few hours, the pain had subsided. However, 4 days later, the bruising is still present. I cannot understand why the nurse chose to use a smaller dressing which obviously caused great discomfort/aggravation to the wound. Having made a great recovery since the operation, this was a major setback to such a successful recovery.

I reached out to TCM after I was told that I had a very low AMH and AFC and that I would likely go through early menopause. This caused me a lot of stress as I had always had regular periods and had never considered that I may have fertility troubles. Prof Au talked me through my results and educated me on AMH as a poor predictor for menopause. He advised me that I would need further bloods to fully assess my fertility and I was able to request them from my GP. Following this he reviewed my bloods with me again, without charge, and advised me that everything was normal and I did not need to be seen at TCM. I am very grateful for all the help, support and education. Thank you!

As previously commented, the experience at the clinic was faultless. This is particularly important for those in unfamiliar surroundings. Reception staff were charming, reassuring, happy to help and crisply efficient. I knew my consultant well and was seen on time, after a short while in the comfortable surrounds of the waiting room - excellent coffee! I will attend again in the Spring and feel confident this will be an equally satisfying experience, in the knowledge the expertise of my consultant and the LUS practice, housed at the HCA Clinic, must be amongst the finest available anywhere.

I left after that initial meeting feeling that I was in very capable hands. On the day of the operation I was visited by him where he outlined the procedure again, explaining the possible issues that could happen. I was visited again after the operation to check on my progress and to update me on how the procedure went.

Just a couple of things… Firstly, during the pre-assessment appointment with the specialist nurse, I was informed that a catheter would be inserted by the anaesthetist - which is incorrect! (think it’s the nurse, but it was important to me as I knew the anaesthetist personally) Secondly, please move the wall clock in the room! Following surgery when you’re lying awake during what feels like an endless night, it would be good to be able to know what time it is.

Nurses were all keen to offer care, and talk, which I appreciated, it's easy to get in your own head, and I appreciated the distraction! One thing I would comment on is that there is always a long wait. I was asked to arrive at 8:30am, but I didn't actually have my procedure until 10:30, which gave lots of time to think. A more streamlined appointment process would be helpful
