Mr Jeremy Nettleton is a highly skilled Consultant Urologist, currently practising at Cheltenham General Hospital, The Nuffield-Cheltenham and The Winfield Hospital-Gloucester. He is also the Clinical Lead for Urology. Mr Nettleton is known for his patient centred approach, delivering exceptional urological care through innovative techniques and advanced surgical practices.
Mr Nettleton has an international reputation for his treatment and mangement of men with lower urinary tract symptoms.
He was the first surgeon to treat patients with Aquablation in the South West of England and has a high volume practice. Jeremy has established Cheltenham as a international visitaiton centre for Aquablation and is a key opinion leader in this field, speaking regulalry at national and international events. He has completed over 250 Aquablation procedures.
Mr Nettleton completed his undergraduate medical training at Guy’s, King’s, and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London, and earned his MBBS in Medicine from King's College London. He also holds a BSc (Hons) in Pathology/Experimental Pathology from Queen Mary University of London. To further develop his leadership and strategic skills, he completed the Health Leadership Programme at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. His comprehensive educational background underpins his expertise in both clinical practice and healthcare management.
With a specialist interest in prostatic enlargement (BPH), day-case bladder outflow obstruction, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and kidney cancer. He has developed a pioneering programme at Winfield Hospital for managing benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), including performing the first Aquablation cases in the South West of England and Midlands.
Since his appointment at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in October 2020, Mr Nettleton has led transformative projects within the department, including the procurement of two DaVinci surgical robots and the establishment of a nationally leading day-case prostate surgery programme. His commitment to improving patient care is reflected in his successful leadership and quality improvement initiatives, which have resulted in nationally leading clinical outcomes.
His dedication to innovation and patient care has earned him a reputation for excellence, and he continues to lead educational initiatives, including national webinars and quality improvement projects.
Mr Nettleton is also actively involved in research and medical education, having written book chapters, published articles, and presented his work at various professional conferences. He has advised the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), Olympus Medical, Procept, and the International Incontinence Society.
