    Mr George Voyatzis

    Ophthalmologist

    5

    Verified

Every part of my treatment at Moorfields Private by Mr George Voyatzis has been exceptional, from the initial consultation through the post op follow up - and I would very highly recommend him as an outstanding surgeon and consummate professional to anyone who needs cataract surgery. Mr Voyatzis was fantastic in methodically walking me through all the procedures and options. I settled on a pair of premium lenses specifically the Technis Puresee EDOF lenses; which he thoughtfully probed at our consultation, just to be sure this was indeed the best option. I have been absolutely delighted by the results. As someone who has been an avid clay pigeon shooter all my adult life, I wanted the ability to see the clay from the trap to the horizon, and the EDOF lenses facilitate this transition seamlessly, without the staggered results of multi-focal alternatives. Whilst they have been around for a while now it is mainly confined to active sports people. To my mind they should be considered by many more people as the solution was life changing, providing exceptional visual acuity, much greater brightness and far better contrast even at night with minimal halos. Both eyes (treated with a 2-week gap) have healed perfectly well (yes I followed the procedure re the three different drops to the letter) and I couldn't be happier, another 4 weeks out. Yes, I still need reading glasses (of low power) if I want to read really fine print, but the balance between the eyes, what I believe is called mini-monovision, with a crisp Toric lens in the left and a slightly short-sighted dominant right to stretch the vision seamlessly from computer to dashboard and reading ranges for restaurant menus. I would say that in 95%+ of day to day work I need no glasses at all (I do need to hold my phone with arms partially extended to be comfortable and there are residual halos on a very bright screen if it is held to close); exceptions are using a screwdriver on a screw at short distance picking up crumbs from the floor which was a novel surprise, and more understandably threading a needle, of course. However, having spent a lifetime quite shortsighted, it is a joy to behold the world again in glorious technicolor, and the odd need for readers is in no way restrictive for me. I can read a newspaper well; it is only if I am going to undertake prolonged reading that the glasses make it a more relaxed pleasure. I have always suffered astigmatism in my left eye presumably from birth, and Mr Voyatzis suggested a Toric lens version of the Technis Puresee EDOF in the left eye (2nd op). The most remarkable thing being that for as long as I could remember I have always found it slightly discombobulating going downstairs or ladders whether I had glasses to correct it or not. I have no fear of heights per se but it always felt slightly out of kilter which was probably due to the astigmatism. The new lens is phenomenal as this has entirely disappeared and it is a quite wonderful, unexpected benefit. I probably left it a bit long to get my cataracts removed, even though I am mid-fifties, so if patients are in two minds they really should make an appointment, and also talk to other patients who have had this procedure. Whilst a first for the patient it is now quite routine and would provide much better quality of life in many cases. His medical secretary, Elizabeth deserves special mention as well. She is an absolute delight to deal with; prompt, a dedicated professional, on-the-ball with a lovely sense of humour – she even called me back when she was on holiday, which was very generous given it was the middle of the summer. George himself is very knowledgeable, relaxed in manner and explains issues, risks and options flawlessly. I was of course slightly nervous (as anyone would be before eye surgery) despite having a local friend who had gone through the very same procedure a year or so previously and referred me to Moorfield Private. However I need not have worried at all: the first operation (of two ) not a moment's pain or even discomfort; it was very efficient and I was amazed that when I first stood up, the bedside curtain which had appeared a non-descript dark teal colour prior to the first op, burst into colour now appearing lavender with patterns on it –showing how much light, and colour / contrast had dropped out unbeknownst to me due to the developing cataracts. These profound changes creep up so slowly that your brain adjusts, and you just think the world has become slightly dull. I could not wait for the second round, which was equally exceptional and was much easier knowing what to expect and indeed allowing brain to see more consistent images. Post-op care was likewise flawless and the end result was extremely good eyesight across a wide range of distances - my brains seems to have leapt at the chance to see better. I do fully understand that the final result may not be precisely knowable until up to 6 months out and it is only the end of week six and four respectively. but I could not have asked for, or received, better care so for. Thank you again to George, Elizabeth and his entire surgical team for enriching my life immeasurably.

After going through recurrent miscarriages and a difficult fertility journey, we went into put consultation with Jiva Fertility feeling quite apprehensive. I honestly wasn’t expecting the experience to feel so different, but it was genuinely night and day compared with what we have experienced previously. We saw Dr Bhandari, and from the moment the consultation started, we felt listened to. The amount of time we were given was incredible, and there was such a level of detail in going through not only my medical and fertility history, but my partner’s too. That was particularly important to us, as fertility and recurrent miscarriage can so easily feel like something that falls entirely on the woman. For the first time, it really felt like we were being looked at as a couple. Dr Bhandari took the time to explain the medical side of things in a way we could actually understand. Nothing felt rushed or like we were simply being given information without explanation. We were able to ask questions, understand the reasoning behind things and genuinely feel involved in the conversation. What really stood out to us was that there was absolutely no feeling of being pushed into unnecessary tests or treatments. In fact, the opposite. The tests suggested were explained in terms of what would actually be useful for us, rather than feeling like we were being offered everything possible just because we were paying privately. We also discussed lifestyle in much more detail than we ever have before. There were things I had genuinely believed I was doing correctly including aspects of my exercise regime that I now understand may need to be approached differently. I came away with practical things I can actually change, rather than just being told to “live healthier”. Most importantly, I left feeling validated, listened to and reassured. We weren’t given any pressure to make decisions there and then. We were given two options: book the recommended tests now, or wait for our letter and decide which tests we wanted to proceed with. Having that choice, without any pressure whatsoever, made such a difference. It was only a consultation, so we haven’t had any tests or treatment through Jiva yet, and I can’t comment on those aspects. But based purely on our experience today, I can honestly say that it has given both of us a renewed sense of hope. After everything we’ve been through with recurrent miscarriage, sometimes you don’t realise how much you need someone to simply listen, take you seriously and make you feel that you’re not carrying the whole journey alone. We walked into the appointment feeling like patients who needed answers, and walked out feeling like two people whose concerns genuinely mattered. Thank you to Dr Bhandari and the Jiva Fertility team for giving us that feeling. ❤️

    Mr Scott Robbie

    Ophthalmologist

As a higher risk patient with astigmatism needing cataract surgery on both eyes, I wanted a senior consultant to look after me. At the first consultation, Mr Robbie carried out a thorough review and asked about my lifestyle, hobbies and requirements in order to assess my needs. Taking these into account, he suggested lenses which he thought would work best for me while at the same time minimise the risk of intolerance. There is always an element of compromise and he devised a strategy involving monofocal EDOF toric lenses of different strengths with the objective of making me as free from glasses as possible. I also received a very detailed opinion letter. The other private consultant I had seen had been far less meticulous and this option had not been mentioned. There were complications in the recovery of one of my eyes and recovery is ongoing. Mr Robbie was extremely supportive and saw me several times post-surgery and was also available over the phone. His examinations were thorough and effective. I am now in a position where I am able to go about my day to day business without glasses, including reading, and overall have good vision. Mr Robbie is also supported by a very efficient PA who arranged appointments and provided transparent pricing.

I have just been diagnosed with lung cancer and decided to have a consultation with Dr Wilson after reading about him online. His own website is particularly helpful and stresses how beneficial it is to get early treatment after receiving this diagnosis! I was anxious before the consultation but found that he has an extremely friendly and helpful manner. He had already looked at my X Rays and scans even though I had only arranged to see him the previous day! He soon mapped out a detailed plan for further tests and procedures, some of which had not previously been made available to me. Incredibly he was able to action this plan immediately. Over the next two days it was all accomplished and I was subsequently discharged from hospital. I feel I am now making excellent progress and have complete faith in this wonderful Doctor who I found to be a very kind and compassionate person who is totally committed to his patients. I would urge anyone in my position to telephone Dr Wilson’s secretary to make an early appointment.
