Mr Alistair Angus Peyre Slesser

I have consistently received excellent care from Mr Alistair Slesser, Consultant Gastroenterologist/Colorectal Surgeon, both during my previous emergency admission and my more recent colonoscopy. In April 2023, Mr Slesser performed my laparoscopic-assisted transverse colotomy with excision of a very large transverse colon lipoma. This was an emergency admission, where I arrived in hospital one morning and underwent the procedure the following day. Although this took place in a public hospital setting, Mr Slesser ensured I was kept as comfortable as possible and that my concerns were heard and addressed. I particularly appreciated his responsiveness when I raised concerns about the noise level on the ward, which was affecting my ability to rest and sleep. In response, he granted clearance for my discharge once the final medical checks were completed. More recently, in June 2026, Mr Slesser performed my colonoscopy at Churchill Hospital. His bedside manner was exactly as I had remembered: calm, reassuring, respectful and highly professional. I had been anxious because of the discomfort I experienced during a previous colonoscopy, and he took the time to discuss this with me, explain how the sedation would be managed, and reassure me throughout. During the procedure, he talked me through each stage, which helped me feel more settled and informed. I had a great experience with my recent surgery performed by Mr Slesser. He is an excellent communicator, as well as thorough, and I felt in safe hands throughout. Communication via his executive assistant was also excellent. I would highly recommend Mr Slesser to others.

His bedside manner is outstanding, and he takes the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring you fully understand your diagnosis, treatment options and potential risks. He is incredibly thorough in his examinations and inspires complete confidence. I trust his judgement implicitly, and he has become my go-to person for medical advice. An excellent surgeon and a true credit to his profession.

I cannot recommend Mr.Slesser highly enough. From my very first consultation through post-op recovery, on both occasions (2 surgeries) I felt completely safe, heard, and cared for. Dr. Slesser is not only a brilliant surgeon but also incredibly compassionate. His PA, Yasmin was equally wonderful, always responsive, deeply knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. I am extremely grateful to Mr Slesser who has been hugely empathetic and professional throughout the process. A successful laparoscopic bilateral TEP inguinal hernia repair confirms his skills as a surgeon however the care that he took was equally important, helping build my confidence and putting me at ease. At the initial consultation, he clearly explained the surgical options and patiently answered all of my questions. On the day of surgery, he again took the time to run through the upcoming procedure, what to expect post surgery and outlined the do’s and don’ts for first two weeks of my recovery. He also explained that if I had any post operative concerns I was to reach out. All this helped reassure me and made for a calm and supportive environment. My recovery has been very smooth and successful. Two weeks after the operation we had a post operative review where he explained in detail what he did during the surgery, ran through the longer term recovery plan and again patiently answered all my questions. Thank you. The overall experience has been very positive and I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Slesser to anyone requiring a hernia repair.

My recent visits to Alistair Slesser were a great experiences he is very amiable and knowledgeable, he provided good information on my procedure throughout from initial referral diagnosis to my post operative checkup. He answered all my questions clearly and left me feeling very comfortable with the procedure that i had, and gave good advice throughout to make sure i was as comfortable pre op and could make sure my recovery would be as good as possible post op. I addition I can say that my good recovery is mainly due to Alister's skill as a surgeon and the recommendations made by Alistair on the best way to treat my hernia, i would highly recommend Alistair and his team.
