Mr Chakri Munipalle

Mr Chakri Munipalle is a Consultant General and Upper GI Laparoscopic Surgeon who works at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. In addition, he maintains an outreach clinic at Guisborough General Hospital. He leads the South Tees NHS Trust's acute laparoscopic cholecystectomy service. Mr Munipalle was shortlisted for Doctify's annual Patient Voice Awards in the Healthcare Professional category for 2023 for his commitment to actively listening to patient experiences and feedback, valuing the insights and suggestions provided by his patients and harnessing their voices as a driving force for positive change.

Mr Munipalle provides Independent Health Sector consultation, endoscopy and surgical treatment at Tees Valley Hospital, Acklam, Middlesbrough. He sees Choose & Book (NHS), Insured and Self-pay patients at this hospital.

His special interests are day case and laparoscopic surgeries.

After completing General Surgical training in India, he earned a Master of Surgery (MS). He went on to train in the UK and gained MRCSEd, FRCSEd (Gen Surgery), and Dipolma in laparosocpic Surgery (IRCAD, France). He completed Higher General Surgical training in North East England, and practices as Consultant in NHS and Independent Sector.

Outside of clinical practice, he has interests in teaching and research.  He obtained PG certificate in Clinical Education that enables him excel at teaching to medical students, surgeons in training and Healthcare workers.. In recognition of his contribution to teaching, he was awarded Honorary lectureship by Teesside University.

Mr Munipalle conducted original reasearch into Upper GI pathologies, in recongnition of which he was awarded M Phil by Teesside University. He published his research and clinical studies in scientic journals, and presented at various National & International conferences.
