Dr Darr is the most straight talking dr we have ever met told us exactly what he was doing to do our son. His care and attention has been amazing. The operation well really well. Today we went for our after care appointment to have stents removed Dr Darr was very gentle we had no idea how long they were. He went on to reassure us of the healing process and was very kind and gentle with our son who is 16 and austic. He explained to all of us what he did and how long the healing would take. We are due back in 3 months. Dr Darr's booking assistant is an amazing man called Pete i was very worried about this operation and he was so lovely explained how he knew Dr Darr and reassured me what a talented surgeon he was. Pete called me while away on holiday booked the appointment for February 2 days later called again to say a cancellation had come up for Jan 6th that was 1 day after our holiday i was hesitant but again Pete reassured me of the care and consideration they would show my Son. I know the Nhs has a bad reputation but the team around him was amazing from Pete who booked the appointment Oliver the anesthesiologist a junior surgeon who i forget her name to Sharon the nurse who gave us the best after care. Thank you to this lovely amazing team.

I am absolutely delighted with my new breasts following my breast reduction surgery. I was extremely nervous going into the process, but Mr Fairbairn put me at ease from the first consultation. What truly stood out was his commitment to patient care. Mr Kumar went above and beyond to align his schedule with the other two surgeons, working late into the evening, to ensure the operation could proceed as planned. Despite heading off on holiday shortly afterwards, he still made the effort to visit me post the operation over the weekend. After the first right eye cataract removal Mazen Tahhan gave me his telephone number and said to call him if I had a problem. I am a very keen insect photographer and found with the distance lens I could not see the camera screen clearly. I became worried about the impact on my ability to focus close up on insects. About 8 p.m. I sent him a text briefly outlining my concerns . He called me back immediately and listened carefully. I was even considering other options than the NHS lens and he kindly sent details of these. However he advised me to I stay with a close-up NHS lens to get as much light into the eye as possible. The assessment was very thorough but efficient at the same time. The team on-site put me at ease, demonstrated confidence in their abilities and ensured I understood the problem and potential next steps. The practical next steps (eg costs, timescale and dates) were not the focus of this appointment and therefore, at no point did I feel a pressure to commit. The focus was more on the calibre of staff who would manage my next procedure and we also discussed any medical concerns I had. I walked out of the session thinking why on earth have I held back so long on getting this treatment done! Thanks to the team both the Dr and Fabrizio were incredibly professional and welcoming.

This was my second cataract operation on my left eye having had a very successful cataract removal and lenses replacement on my right eye performed by Mr Sian a couple of months earlier at Musgrove Park. Mr Sian’s skills , patience and care are exemplary. The outcome hss exceeded all my expectations. For information I initially saw Mr Sian at the Nuffield and had my resulting procedures at Musgrove Park due to the complexity of both eyes. My comments apply mainly to Musgrove although are also applicable to treatment received by Mr Sian at the Nuffield Taunton.
