I have been under the care of Professor Faiz for approximately 18 months, during which I underwent major and complex surgery performed by Professor Faiz himself. This followed almost two decades of severe inflammation in the bowels, which had resulted in a very aggressive disease with numerous complications. When I first met Professor Faiz, it quickly became clear that he had an exceptional understanding of the progressive nature of my condition, as well as its many intricacies and complications—far beyond any other consultant or surgeon I had previously spoken to. Professor Faiz was extremely thorough in conducting tests and assessments to gain a complete picture of my situation. He then developed a clear surgical plan, carefully considering the best approach while prioritising the elimination of all possible risks. Professor Faiz also collaborates with highly skilled and experienced colleagues, whom he involved at the appropriate stages of my care without hesitation. His secretary has likewise been outstanding and extremely helpful. On several occasions after surgery, I was able to contact her and receive a prompt response from Professor Faiz, which greatly helped to alleviate my concerns. In addition to being exceptionally talented in his field, Professor Faiz is also deeply caring. He understands the human aspect of living with complex conditions and the profound impact they can have on people’s lives. In summary, Professor Faiz is a highly experienced and skilled surgeon who prioritises minimising risk and achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients. He is supported by an excellent team. I feel extremely fortunate and grateful to have met Professor Faiz during what was a very challenging and worrying time, and I could not have asked for better care.

I had been experiencing symptoms for more than six months and decided to go private when my NHS referral was postponed a second time. I was nervous beforehand, but Dr Gratwicke was very reassuring. He gave me time to explain my symptoms and listened carefully. He took into account my family medical history and carried out an examination with a chaperone present. I did not feel rushed or that my symptoms were being dismissed. He recommended two scans and clearly explained the purpose of each. His report of my initial consultation came through in less than a week and was detailed and accurate. Once the scans were done, I was able to see Dr Gratwicke soon after to get my results. Again, he explained everything clearly and gave me a good understanding of what was causing my symptoms. The MRI had flagged something else as well, which required me to contact Dr Gratwicke through his admin team after the appointment. He responded to the additional information I sent through the very next day, again putting my mind at rest. Dr Gratwicke is calm, reassuring and extremely efficient in terms of organising referrals and reporting results. I am very grateful to him for his time and expertise.

Mr Awad has been absolutely amazing throughout my mother’s treatment. She’s been seeing him for around 4 months for a lower eyelid growth, which was both invasive and extremely painful. Mr Awad has been so warm, kind and professional at all times and has been so reassuring. My Mum had the growth removed and eyelid reconstruction on the 18th Dec by Mr Awad and the results are truly fabulous. Mum is already mostly pain free and the surgery is so discreet that it’s hardly noticeable. We cannot praise Mr Awad enough and we would also like to say the same for his team in surgery, recovery and clinic. I spent 3 days at the Royal Free PPU as an in-patient following major surgery and I have nothing but praise for the treatment I recieved from start to finish. My surgery was scheduled speedily, the operation went as well as hoped, and all of the PPU team members who took care of me - Consultants, Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Housekeeping - were professional but at the same time, kind and reassuring. I was really anxious about the surgery and for me, the care that I received as an in-patient, made the whole experience so much less stressful.

I had a part knee replacement and the staff were really caring and polite . I couldn’t fault them in fact I would trust them 100% and I don’t trust nobody but the staff were truly amazing . A big Thank you to Mr Patel truly amazing gentlemen and the aneasathetist wow I didn’t feel any needles top people. All I can say is I would highly recommend this hospital the service was amazing. The staff that looked after you couldn’t do enough for you . The place was spotless and the best part of it all you were respected as a person

I underwent a shoulder operation on the 17th November. I was treated with respect and kindness throughout: the room I was allocated for the day was clean, tidy and comfortable as was the bathroom. The post-operative tuna sandwich was delicious! All the staff were excellent, including admin staff, nurses, physios, anaesthetists and my surgeon, Mr Jahnich. The followup care has also been excellent, with especial praise to my physio, Chris.
