The hospital was very clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. The procedure staff were particularly nice and professional. I was very happy with the procedure and the level of professionalism and also good bedside manner. One/two areas which could be improved if you are interested : 1. Pre-procedure information suggested an overall time from entry to release of approx 2hrs. With a 6pm admission time, I assumed I could arrange a collection for 8.30pm with some time to spare. However, on arrival, after approx 1hr 15mins it became apparent that the admission time of 6pm was a general time for 3 patients to be admitted and seen that evening between 6-9pm. I happened to be patient no.2, so was seen around 7.30 and released around 9, meaning I could not use the lift arranged (my wife &kids were ok til then, but not after). This then presented me with a choice of either taxi home or to ask someone at short notice to come and collect me. Had I known the range of procedure/release times in advance, I would have arranged a different, more appropriate, lift from the start. This leads to point no.2 2. I was not made aware of the choice on whether to have sedative or not. The literature states "you will be given a sedative" not that you have a choice. After the delay above, this then created a difficulty whereby if I took the sedative, I could not legally be released to an unknown taxi driver and would have to arrange another lift at short notice or not take the sedative. I opted to not take the sedative. Had I known this option was there, I could have driven myself to and from the appointment. It also would have saved my wife and kids spending time in the car on a busy evening. In connection with this, during the appointment, it sounded like release/recovery after the sedative was likely to be several hours, so release before 10-11pm was unlikely from the start and it was always probably going to be later if I took the sedative. Please don't take the above as criticism, just highlighting that making the choice on sedative clear would have allowed me to more easily plan both my transport. Also providing a bit more detail on the admission/procedure time range and release time range would have allowed me to more easily arrange appropriate transport. Basically, more information would have made things a bit easier is all

Mr Naveen Cavale is truly exceptional — one of the best plastic surgeons in the UK, and possibly worldwide. I had a very large, bulbous nose that I had disliked for as long as I can remember. After three previous rhinoplasties, I was still unhappy with the wide, rounded tip. I consulted several surgeons on Harley Street who told me my nose could not be corrected. An NHS colleague then recommended Mr Cavale, and I’m so grateful they did. My experience at The Real Clinic was outstanding from start to finish. What stood out most was the reassurance that Mr Cavale never takes on a case he feels is too risky or unsuitable. He has an honest, kind and extremely competent manner, which immediately put me at ease. Knowing that he also works in the NHS gave me additional confidence in his integrity and skill. On the day of surgery, the entire team at The Real Clinic were wonderful — from the warm and welcoming receptionist, to the nurses, to the anaesthetist. My anaesthetist, Mr Alasdair Wills, was calm, reassuring and highly skilled, and he chose the perfect anaesthetic so I had no nausea after surgery. Now, three months on, I am in love with my new nose. Mr Cavale truly understood what I wanted. I had explained that my biggest fear was an unnatural “Michael Jackson”-style tip, and that I didn’t want an overly done, pinched or upturned “Barbie” nose. He listened carefully and delivered exactly what I had hoped for. Mr Cavale underpromises and overdelivers. He has transformed my nose while keeping it so natural that even my closest friends couldn’t tell I’d had surgery. I trusted him completely, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

A bad first impression: I arrived as requested at 7:30 to find no staff in Reception and the whole area in darkness! After about 10 , mins a nurse arrived to take us through to the ward. I had been told by the nurse on the phone doing the pre-op check that I was first on the list. However on the day I was told I was 6th, but suspect there were more than 5 people in front of me, as I was not taken downstairs for the procedure until 1about 11:30.. The problem for me was that I was very nervous and the unexpected delay made me very anxious. During my time in Room 19 the male nurse (?) looking after me did an excellent job, trying to reassure me as well as doing all the necessary preparation. Once I got to the operating theatre everyone was pleasant, efficient and friendly, The sedation was effective and the experience much less unpleasant that the retinal tear repair I had had at Moorfields about 10 years ago. I am now in a much better state to face the procedure on the 2nd eve in a few days time.

O 13 December I attended for a pre-med prior to spinal tap. Very good treatment until advised that the spinal tap cancelled due to my ECG. I was urged to immediately contact my GP or A&E. At Worthing A&E I was advised that due to current medication that I am taking for this issue it would have been OK to continue with the spinal tap and it was suggested that One Hospital refused to continue due to your lack of facility if the op went wrong. The journey to One Hospital, 90 miles each way, the time taken for that journey and the pre med followed by 2 hours in A&E was expensive. Before attending One Hospital I had completed a form at your request which listed the medication that I was taking and the reason. Why was I invited to that pre med? This is the second time that One Hospital have refused to go ahead with an operation that was subsequently completed by NHS without a problem. I now have no confidence in the One Hospital and will not seek further appointments.

He explained everything clearly and reassured me when I was nervous. On the day of the operation, he visited me in my ward before operating to ensure I was feeling ok. His calm, professional and caring approach made me feel like I was in the best hands possible, which helped me to relax. 6 weeks on from my op, everything has healed really well and I’m delighted with the result. Joshua explained to procedure, the importance of the follow on post surgery and also took the time to explain how to use the brace that I was required to use as part of my recovery. It was extremely kind of Joshua to also take the time to speak to my wife and explain the procedure, then updated her on how the operation went. He is excellent and both my wife (Joshua undertook a two full knee replacements) and I feel very fortunate to have Joshua as both our surgeon and specialist. To put this all into context I was referred to a specialist at another hospital, prior to Joshua, and four weeks later I've still not been contacted by them!

Dr Khan explained clearly regarding the battery of the pacemaker and we agreed to confirm 12 monthly checks on the pacemaker at the Alexandra Hospital. In fact prior to this visit and prior to the procedure Dr Khan was very clear and fastidious regarding checks on Jack and the fact that his heart rate was dropping to 30 - to ensure safety during the procedure Dr Khan has gone above and beyond our expectations and made us feel confident and safe under his care

The New Vic --- now known as the 'BUPA New Victoria' --- is a smallish but excellent private hospital situated just off the A3 between Wimbledon and Kingston. It has recently been enlarged and its large Reception is now most welcoming. So far as I know, the rooms are all of the ground floor and overlook well-maintained gardens. Surgical procedures that my family and I have had at the New Vic over the last thirty years have all been trouble-free and successful.

Although the prospect of eye surgery was daunting I could not have received better care throughout the whole process. Communication was clear and kind, surgery was efficient and recovery uneventful. I would totally recommend Mr Woodruff to anyone who is contemplating correction of a ptosis/ blepharoplasty.
