    Spire Elland Hospital

Overall, Spire Elland was great and I would happily return should I require any further procedures in the future. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and everything is very clean. I think the main thing letting the hospital down is patient communication. All appointments and comms are recorded and delivered via an app. If you don't want to or aren't able to download the app (like me), you do end up being left a little in the dark about things. For example, I had been given a surgery date fairly soon after my initial consultation, which was great, however I hadn't been informed that there would be multiple pre-operative assessment appointments to attend - all of which were on-site at Spire Elland, which is around an hour's drive for us. On one occasion, I had to make last-minute arrangements to move clients around as I'd been unaware of an upcoming appointment - I'd received no email, no text, no phone call, no letter. I just so happened to log in to my online portal and find the appointment date there. I moved clients around so I could attend, and just a couple of days before my appointment received a text message to say the date had changed, with no explanation provided. I called to try and find out why this might be, but was met with a dismissive reply of, "We just had to move it". All of the documents outlining the process for my surgery and the prep I should do beforehand were provided online, and the online portal isn't the simplest to navigate, so accessing them wasn't as easy as it could have been. When I was admitted for my day surgery, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, although I did find that I received a blunt reply whenever I asked a question about anything. This was my first ever surgery and my first time being put under general anaesthetic, so naturally I was quite nervous. Some of the members of staff were very helpful and supportive, but others seemed to have little patience, which wasn't ideal and only served to make me more anxious. When I came to after the surgery, I had been expecting to have a bit of a handover with someone so I could at least find out how it had gone and what they had/hadn't found. Unfortunately, Mr Gan was occupied in another surgery, and so I was discharged before having the chance to speak to him. I asked the nurses for some clarification - any brief notes or insights they might be able to give to put my mind at ease a bit until I could speak with Mr Gan - but this was met with quite curt replies. I was told no one could read Mr Gan's handwriting so no one could tell me any information, which at the time was quite frustrating as I'd been dealing with the pain for so long and had viewed the laparoscopy as the light at the end of the tunnel. It was disheartening to leave the hospital without any real clarification of the issue. Now having had my final follow-up with Mr Gan, I can say with confidence that all of my questions have been answered, and I feel validated and supported as a patient. However, I can't help but feel that had the communication from the hospital team been a little better throughout the process, it wouldn't have been so frustrating to wake up after the surgery and find that no one could tell me how it had gone.

Not sure where to start, but I honestly can’t recommend Dr Tan highly enough. As a boxer, he immediately understood the type of issue I was dealing with and knew exactly what to look for. I’d previously had nine months of physio and was constantly reassured that things were improving, but deep down I knew they weren’t. After an MRI, it became clear there were loose bodies in the joint. I was then referred to Dr Tan, who was confident they could be removed and that recovery would be quick and he was absolutely right. He was incredibly accommodating and even rearranged things to fit me in for surgery as I was due to go away, which I really appreciated. The surgery itself was a breeze, and I had no major pain afterwards, which was a huge relief. Everything moved quickly and smoothly, start to finish was all done within a month, which was amazing. Dr Tan was thorough, helpful, and flexible throughout, with a genuine focus on getting me back to sport as safely and quickly as possible. You can even Google or AI-search him and he comes up as one of the recommended elbow surgeons in the UK, so I’m very glad I was in his care. Brilliant doctor and a genuinely nice guy. I also want to mention his secretary, Julie, who was fantastic, always helpful, easy to reach, and happy to answer questions, even if it meant going back and forth. That level of support makes such a difference. This is exactly the kind of team you want looking after you. Thank you, Dr Tan and Julie. I’m very grateful, and I hope this review reassures others and gives them confidence that they’d be in great hands.

It was OK. Sorry this system doesn't allow me to write why I went there and therefore wastes my time! I was there for a Pre op assessment. My Op is 9 Feb 2026 under Dr Panos Gikas. I asked him if I could attend this clinic as it is nearer where I live. The. appointment was alright. The only issue I had was that when it came to having a blood test, they insisted that I had to have 2 separate ones in each arm? I get blood tests regularly as I have a long term condition. The first one was relatively pain free which was performed by Isabella. The second was performed by Riggs(?) and was unneccessarily painful due to him holding down the needle when it was in my arm. I was not happy about that. I did not understand the reason for the second blood test, when one is usually fine and if more blood is required, then usually another vial is attached as necessary.

I recently had a PFO closure operation after discovery of a congenital heart issue with Dr Aggarwal. From consultation he explained everything and made me feel valued, allowing me to ask questions freely. I felt confident in his care and this continued to the day of the operation, where any fears were alleviated. I’m pleased to say he did an amazing job! Recovery was explained and I felt comfortable to ask anything. Dr Aggarwal’s medical secretaries are also worthy of a mention - their communication, friendliness and efficiency are second to none and I have been able to contact quickly at every need. Thank you for giving me a fixed heart. If I ever needed a heart operation again (fingers crossed we will never meet again!) I would be straight to Dr Aggarwal with no hesitation. Thanks again with appreciation

I have nothing but praise for Miss Pissanou and her entire team including Claire Gibbons her secretary , as well as everyone at The Princess Grace Hospital. From start to finish, the care I received was outstanding. Miss Pissanou was professional, compassionate, and extremely thorough throughout the whole process, and her team were equally supportive and attentive. The hospital staff made me feel comfortable and well looked after at every stage, and the standard of care was exceptional. I am truly grateful for the expertise, kindness, and reassurance I experienced, and I would not hesitate to recommend Miss Pissanou, her team, and The Princess Grace Hospital to anyone in need of first-class medical care.

It has been a nightmare for me trying to get through to talk to someone at the front desk regarding follow up appointments for steroids injections etc.I have been put through to various people & end up talking to someone on a central line in Glasgow 😩 now I have to wait until April for an appointment😢 This system should be addressed!!! It would be a joy if more people were like Mr Syed. & also his very obliging secretary 🤗 Kindest regards Georgina P.

Apart from a reception that were unaware of their visitors - the building and facilities were excellent. Dr. Bradley is a practitioner who has a broad grasp of all areas of HRT treatment. Her extensive knowledge makes you feel very confident about the decisions you make with the doctors assistance. She is never rushed and allows extensive discussion about past and present research. I am extremely impressed by her professionalism. I left after my consultation feeling I had explored all the areas I had questions about but came away with a lot of new information.

I recently attended to undergo an Endoscopy under the care of Professor East and his team. This is the second time I have had contact with Professor East. I always find him easy to talk to, he is a good listener and gives clear, straight answers to all my questions with a no nonsense attitude. He is extremely professional and speaks with authority, which gives me confidence in his diagnosis and recommendations. He is clearly one of the leaders in his field of expertise and was recommended to me by a family member who had previously had a consultation with him.

I visited the clinic to discuss removal of a lesion on my eyelid. Having spoken to the consultant Mt Murray I decided to have it removed. I returned two weeks later to have the surgery. All the staff were very supportive and took time to explain the whole procedure to me. In particular Jenny took great care of me and made sure I felt as relaxed as I could be. Everything went to plan and I would like to thank everybody that was involved.

He has always time to answer my many questions. I think what impressed me most, was how quickly I was slotted in to see him on two occasions post treatment when I was having problems to discuss and advise.
