Post-operative pain was minimal, which greatly eased my recovery journey. Mr Divyang Shukla

Mr Shukla originally saw me as a private patient in order to relieve the pain in my left shoulder. He gave me a pain reliving injection and advised me that I really needed an operation to solve the problem. He offered to write to my GP and ask him to refer me back to Mr Shukla as an NHS patient for the necessary operation. Subsequently I had an X-Ray and an MRI scan on the shoulder. Yesterday Mr Shukla saw me having seen the X-Ray and scan results and advised me that instead of a shoulder replacement op. he recommended that he carry out a key-hole operation to remove a piece of bone on the shoulder which was causing me pain and also to repair two damaged tendons. This I have agreed to and I now await a date for the op. Mr Shukla is very courteous, kind and re-assuring and also explains what the problem is and what is the best way to resolve the problem.

I had been experiencing symptoms which had been unexplained for months, and which had led to a lot of anxiety for me. My experience was the first time i was a patient in kingsbridge . I have to say my initial contact with vickie nurse who took my details left me very relaxed which left me taking the gas and air instead of sedation as I am a very anxious person . We need more nurses like her dealing with patients . Then I had grace who spoke to me and held my hand through the procedure and kept me relaxed and a special thank you to dr Seamus Murphy who carried out the procedure was very informative and gentle on the procedure .

No complaints about the staff or the appointment. BUT: 1. The waiting time for a porter to wheel a disabled patient was too long. The only wheelchair available for use by an accompanying person was seriously damaged [no footrests]. 2. the wait by the lifts took 28 minutes. After selecting the floor we needed, it kept saying lift C, then changed to E then A and so on. A nightmare. They need more porters [who are always unfailingly nice and polite] and more wheelchairs, and a better system.

Mr Wong is an excellent gynaecologist. He listens, asks the right questions, and explains every step in clear language. You feel comfortable the moment you walk in because he treats you with respect and patience. He does not rush you. He checks that you understand your options. He makes difficult appointments feel manageable. My visits with other gynaecologists felt stressful, but he changed that for me. Overall I got what I needed which is all that matters ultimately. Found it annoying to have to fill in yet another paper form when I’d registered online as requested via email the day before. Yet another different NHS portal - the third I have had to sign up to. Was also not happy to be asked for a credit card when I was there as a fully insured patient. I was told it was ‘policy’ but when I said I’d rather not it no longer seemed to be policy.
