I attended the Neurology Clinic at Cleveland Clinic, Portland Place London for a second medical opinion (covered by my insurance) and I had ALL medical reports with me. The booking process was straightforward, and the reception team were excellent—very responsive and professional, with great customer service. I also appreciated that the clinic arranged for my MRI images to be transferred ahead of my appointment, so the consultant would have access to my medical history. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with how the consultation itself went. I came with up-to-date MRI scans (completed recently through an NHS neuroscience unit), along with relevant medical reports and test results. However, the doctor did NOT properly review my MRI images, stating they were “bad quality,” and instead suggested I pay privately for repeat MRI scans at Cleveland Clinic London 3Tesla MRI scanner (my all mri's were done on 3Tesla scanners). He also recommended another lumbar puncture, again privately, despite the fact that I have already had one. Overall, I left with the strong impression that the focus was on arranging further paid tests rather than reviewing the information already available and providing a clear second opinion. In the end, I did not receive any meaningful second medical opinion, no conclusions were offered, and I felt I had not been listened to. To be fair, Dr Wallace Brownlee was polite, kind, and his manner was professional. The neurological examination was fine. However, I still left without any explanation or diagnostic opinion, despite no recent change in my clinical picture that would obviously justify repeating tests before offering an assessment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr Wallace Brownlee for someone seeking a genuine second opinion.

I had the misfortune of seeing Dr Mark Gillett recently for a shoulder complaint. I had been in pain on and off for several months, and felt somewhat frightened about the prospect of being unable to resolve the issue, or having to resort to surgery. At my first appointment, Dr Gillett performed a cursory physical examination, asked me very few questions about the course of my treatment to date and seemed keen to get me out of the door as quickly as possible. His recommendation for an injection was made within about five minutes, and he provided very little explanation as to why. After an MRI scan I returned for a follow up appointment. Once more I found Dr Gillett to be rude and unsympathetic. I was eager to understand the nature of my MRI results and the course of treatment that Dr Gillett was recommending, but he seemed to treat my questions as an affront to his medical expertise. Far from assuaging my fears or clarifying my understanding, he treated my enquiries as if they were a nuisance. When I explained that I still do not understand what was actually wrong and why he was suggesting an injection, he became increasingly obnoxious, suggesting that I should simply accept his 'twenty five years of experience' and telling me that I had a very 'rigid' view of my treatment. I tried explaining again that I was simply trying to understand the course of action, and again was rebuffed curtly. I found his behaviour throughout deeply unsatisfactory, and he only added to my distress managing what is already a challenging and painful injury. I will not return to see him again and I will not recommend that anyone else does.

Review for Podiatrist Consultant Liam Stapleton I have been a patient of Liam Stapleton for several years, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Liam is consistently professional, attentive, and genuinely thorough. The experience I had regarding the procedure was nothing short of excellent. All pre op discussions were clear and concise and with no pressure. Facts and previous experiences were mentioned to help me make an informed decision about my condition and how best to proceed. The procedure itself went as planned and Chris and the rest of the hospital staff were extremely professional throughout. Anything I asked for was dealt with promptly and efficiently. I never really felt at unease with anything even though the situation did involve a surgical procedure. Although I am only one day after surgery I am already feeling better and this is mainly due to the great care provided by Chris and the team.

After not getting an appointment with our GP I decided to book an appointment late on in the afternoon when I became concerned with my child. I was able to book online with ease and had the appointment for 35 minutes later. The staff were welcoming and it wasn’t long in the waiting room before we were seen. Fiona made my child and myself feel at ease and did a thorough check. She even offered a follow up MOT check the next day which left me very reassured. This is the third time I’ve used the clinic and would recommend to anyone needing piece of mind when they can’t access their own GP unfortunately..

The treatment I received at the Matrix Eye Clinic was excellent from both Mr Guy Smith and his first class team. The results from the cataract operation in both eyes is sensational. My eyesight is significantly improved, the length, the accuracy and the intensity of the colour are all enhanced. I am absolutely delighted. Before I had the operation I was considering exchanging our television for a new model because I was having difficulty in reading small print and the scene was blurred. Now I can enjoy watching. Amazing! I have no hesitation in recommending Matrix Eye Clinic.

This was my second cataract operation on my left eye having had a very successful cataract removal and lenses replacement on my right eye performed by Mr Sian a couple of months earlier at Musgrove Park. Mr Sian’s skills , patience and care are exemplary. The outcome hss exceeded all my expectations. For information I initially saw Mr Sian at the Nuffield and had my resulting procedures at Musgrove Park due to the complexity of both eyes. My comments apply mainly to Musgrove although are also applicable to treatment received by Mr Sian at the Nuffield Taunton.

It was such a contrast from the NHS left eye cataract operation where I was not given the required information that there would be no compensation for my high level of astigmatism and the outcome of an even greater astigmatism due to a less than perfect lens fitting. Professor Bourne answered all my questions fully and clearly and the outcome of the operation was perfect vision in my right eye. Fantastic!
