A self referral due to unacceptable time line (for me), for NHS treatment. This was acknowledged by Mr Thomas and after discussions he outlined options for my Inguinal Hernia. My operation was carried out within a few weeks and I have just had my post Op follow up consultation/review appointment. I have to say from the start to my last meeting at all times a very professional first class service was delivered. All those members of hostital staff supporting Mr Thomas during my visit delivered a first-rate service.

Mr Rhys Thomas performed a laparoscopic repair of a right side inguinal hernia on me at Shirley Oaks hospital recently. I am very glad I chose Mr Thomas as my surgeon. The results of my surgery are excellent. No complications at all and I only had minor aching for the first few days after the surgery. After one week no pain whatsoever. It is now 3 weeks after the surgery and I feel completely back to normal, no longer have any bruising and only minor scars remain from the small incisions required for laparoscopic surgery. From what I understand Mr Thomas is highly experienced at performing both open and laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs. I had a few anxieties about having a general anaesthetic, so Mr Thomas put me in touch with one of the anaesthetists to discuss and he was able to completely allay all my concerns. The operation was a comfortable experience, and I had a nice comfortable recovery in a private room in the hospital. I was able to go home a few hours after the procedure. Mr Thomas was also helpful and reassuring during my initial consultation. His PA Gemma was also extremely helpful throughout the whole process or arranging my surgery and related pre-operative assessments.

Saw Mr Thomas for the first time following a diagnosis of a small inguinal hernia and referral by my GP. He was very professional and covered all the options putting my mind at ease. In the end a conservative management was advised with a view to a surgical option when the need arose. Was very pleased to have seen Mr Thomas.
