After a rushed first appointment (in fact all were rushed), received a date for surgery from the surgeon. At the end of the appointment, I still had many unanswered questions. The surgeon didn't tell me on next steps or what to expect too, and simply said the hospital would get back to me. One particular query which was crucial for me to talk to my insurer and get approvals, and was answered by the surgeon's secretary after 9 days. On the day of the surgery, the surgeon saw me before the surgery, and did not even come to see me in my room after discharge from the recovery area. I had no clue on how the surgey went, and was in immense pain, burning and had numbness in multiple areas. The nurse in the room did not know the whereabouts of the surgeon too, and said it should be assumed that the surgery went as expected, otherwise the surgeon would have informed everyone, had it gone wrong. I had to ask the surgeon via email again on post operative recovery guidance, and nothing was shared by the surgeon upfront. I informed the surgeon via email of immense pain, pulling, burning, numbness in multiple areas, and received a response after 6 days of surgery, to be seen personally only after immensely painful 12 days. During the entire consultation period, i felt total lack of empathy from the surgeon, and when asked on the reasons, I was casually told that the mesh could have got entangled with nerves underneath, and if things don't improve after pain management and with time, we will simply get another surgery done to free them up! Seven months have passed, and I am still struggling with pain and discomfort in the groin, inner thigh, join of thigh and groin, waist and testicle. I could go on, but this has to be the worst experience I have ever had both of a surgeon, and a private hospital.
Many thanks for taking the time here. We've met many times and had a lot of communications with each other and with my hospital and I really hope you are on the mend now. All feedback is very much much welcomed, especially if it allows us clinicians to reflect on our practice. Thanks again! R

Very to the point but helpful in explaining what was required and the procedure.

The overall experience was great, with good explanation. I have had very little discomfort since the operation, and very glad I had it.

From the initial consultation through to the review after the procedure Mr Thomas took care to put me at my ease. I was very impressed with his professionalism throughout, and he ensured that I felt fully aware of all the salient details of my operation. Mr Thomas is clearly a surgeon of high calibre.

A very professional guy . Easy going demeanour which in turn gives the patient reassurance. No post op issues . Well done that man .

Simply brilliant. Mr Thomas filled me with confidence and I was right to be so.

I found Mr Thomas very professional, easy to understand about the operation procedures and quietly comforting.

Mr Thomas was really lovely. He tool the time to really explain what the surgery entailed - the benefits and the risks, so I was fully informed. He has a calm and pleasant manner, and I immediately felt that I could trust him with my procedure. After my surgery, Mr Thomas made a point of finding my husband to let him know all was well, which we both appreciated very much. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in using Mr Thomas again, should I need to.

This was first ever time of being in a position where I visited a consultant knowing I could potentially need surgical procedure. I felt that the diagnosis was clearly and simply explained to me together with the options and implications of surgery versus the alternative of simply "management of condition". I chose surgery and underwent my procedure 6 months ago. I am pleased to say the whole experience passed off successfully and I felt relaxed throughout as I had been briefed as to what to expect.
