Mr Gill operated on my right knee replacement which is 24 yrs old because the patella had fallen off and I was in a lot of pain. Since the recovery I have been back to normal and the knee is feeling really good and X-rays today on yearly check up were all good. Excellent result because I was really worried I would need a total revision but his decision to just replace patella was a good one as the rest of the replacement is only showing a bit of wear and tear and should last me quite a few more years hopefully. It feels like it did before and it has been a god send - a really solid replacement.

From start to finish, the care I received was, quite frankly, incredible. From the moment I arrived at reception, through to being called in and looked after by the nurse Joyce, who kept me informed and reassured throughout, everything felt calm, professional and exceptionally well organised. I was very grateful for the timely visit from the anesthetist and for Mr Gill coming to see me before surgery. The professionalism, reassurance and care shown by everyone was second to none. I would also like to thank the staff in the operating theatre, including Theresa, who made me feel so relaxed; Charlotte and Anushka, the physiotherapists, who made sure I understood my exercises; and John, who provided my medication and guidance on discharge. Most of all, I would like to thank Mr Gill for his expertise, insight and skill. You are an extraordinary team. You gave me not only an excellent patient experience but, once my knees have settled down, you may also have changed the way I am able to enjoy my life with my children and family (fingers crossed!) It is not an easy thing that you do. It requires knowledge, training and judgement, but also courage, patience and genuine care for the people who place themselves in your hands. Those qualities were evident throughout my experience.

My operation went smoothly I have a neat scar on my knee but the pain was bad afterwords but with painkillers and ice packs I did my exercises every day several times and in 8weeks I’m walking without aids I’m pleased with my new knee
