Cardiologist
Bristol, BS6 6UT
Nik Joshi is a Consultant Cardiologist with extensive experience in general cardiology and a special interest in coronary artery disease (such as angina and heart attacks) as well as valvular heart disease. His particular focus is prevention, management and treatment of coronary disease. He specialises in invasive treatment of heart artery blockages (coronary angioplasty) and has particular expertise in treatment of heart valve diseases with keyhole procedures such as TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve replacement/implantation).
His primary cardiology training was in Edinburgh, where Dr Joshi also undertook a highly successful PhD, followed by training in interventional and general cardiology. After undertaking the British Cardiology Interventional fellowship in Vancouver Island, Canada, he has been appointed as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at University Hospitals Bristol. This post has allowed Dr. Joshi to undertake high volume complex coronary intervention (performing more than 300 percutaneous coronary interventions per year) and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (performing more than 100 per year). Dr Joshi is very active academically as honorary senior lecture at the University of Bristol and was recently awarded the highly competitive Clinical Academic Research Partnership Award by the Medical Research Council.
Dr Joshi believes in empowering patients with current clinical evidence about their condition so as to enable them to make a well-informed decision about the treatment options available to them.

Dr Joshi is probably the nicest and most knowledgeable of doctors I have ever seen. He doesn't just talk to you in a friendly manner, he explains things to you in such a way that you can easily understand, he always makes sure you fully grasp what he has told you and encourages questions to ensure he delivers you the best service.

Dr Joshi is one of the most competent interventional cardiologists I have met in my career. He is primarily involved with coronary intervention of the highest degree having trained in some of the most prestigious centres nationally and internationally. His interests also expand to the TAVI area where he has introduced this technique under sedation rather than full anaesthetic. I would like to recommend Dr Joshi to both private and NHS patients who require advice or a procedure such as angioplasty/stenting of the coronary arteries or a TAVI.
Dr Joshi is a fantastic colleague, who is a clinician and researcher in the fields of valvular and coronary heart disease. His interventional cardiology expertise is broad and includes transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Further to this, he has also trained in non-invasive imaging specifically in CT coronary angiography.

Dr Joshi is a Consultant at the Bristol Heart Institute. He is very highly regarded amongst his consultant colleagues and well liked by nursing staff and patients. He is especially skilled in coronary angiography / angioplasty (stenting) and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVI). I have no hesitation in recommending him to future patients.
