I had two visits - a pre-surgical assessment and 3 days later I returned for breast cancer surgery with an overnight stay. I have a few hopefully constructive observations: There was no evidence that any information collected at the pre-op meeting was transferred to the team admitting me for my operation. The inefficiencies of this became laughable at times and is a waste of your precious resources and my time . Eg wanting to repeat mrsa tests and weight/height checks because they hadn’t checked their records from 3 days prior. I was told I couldn’t go down to surgery without a Pregnancy test. I had to be very firm that I had the right to refuse and was made to feel like I was being difficult when the truth was very different. The consultants stepped in to support my position and my right to self advocate. The number of different contact points with junior/assistant nursing staff during my 28hr stay was startling, I lost count. There was no continuity at all which led to more observations that necessary (literally 5mins apart because of a lack of communication) and at other times several hours without any contact at all I twice had to tell staff not to put blood pressure sleeve on the arm that just been operated on as they were clueless regarding the surgery I’d had. It’s a general ward so I accept there are no/fewer specialists (eg for breast cancer) but the lack of interest/knowledge was frustrating and in stark contrast to other private hospital experiences I’ve had during this journey. Minor point but there were no towels or toiletries in the en suite and the shower set up was totally impractical for post surgery washing (as the hand held show was missing). I was offered option to use en suite in another room - staff did their best to find a solution and my husband was able to support me.

Dr Matthew Robert Gibson

After seeing one doctor who was very much "your body will get used to it", so glad to find Dr Gibson who was more sympathetic to my symptoms. A few months (and two negative FNA's) later I have now had one session of RFA to shrink some annoying thyroid nodules. Early days, but fingers crossed symptoms will start to go away soon. Dr Gibson throughout has been very good, and has a very calm and nice way about him that puts you at ease when your not sure what to expect. All 3 procedures I have had have been well explained to me and I have been well looked after by him and his team of nurses, everyone very good at checking you are ok thoughtout too. He has also been very understanding and helpful regards my job situation and loss of Bupa cover. In the franticness of the Royal Berks Hospital (not there fault, just very busy!) his calmness helped settle my nerves and it was very much a case of anticipation being well worse than the procedure itself. Fingers crossed the procedure works for me, early days, but would definitly recommend it to anyone ahead of thyroid removal for anyone whos thyroid is working fine. I would recommend him 100%! (Although he was a little mean having a cup of tea with me just before the RFA when I wasnt allowed anything! But I'll let him off that bit)

Having suffered severe pain in my right knee for some time, I am indebted to Julian for working his magic. It's 6-weeks since my partial knee replacement and I am mostly pain free (only feeling pain if I've been standing or walking too much but that's to be expected and is improving every day). My brother recommended Julian having had full knee replacements on both knees. He now happily cycles 50-70 miles most weekends without any problem. I decided it was worth making the effort to travel from South London to get the best knee surgeon I could find. I could not be happier with the results. Julian's advice before, during and post surgery has been honest, clear and professional. He set out all my options and provided his opinion when asked. All the staff at the Saxon Clinic were amazing too, from the nurses to the anaesthetist etc. Brilliant surgeon and a great clinic!

Mr Patel obviously has vast experience in his field. He was very reassuring and patient with listening and answering any concerns I had. I needed to be seen as quickly as possible due to commitments abroad and he did everything he could to help and expedite things for me. My surgery was quick and didn't leave me with any pain. I would highly recommend him and will not hesitate to go back to him for my follow ups. I must also add that his secretary Abbey was fantastic. She was kind, helpful and very organised in everything she did and made me also feel at ease with anything I asked her.

I had a great experience at this practice. The hospital was exceptionally clean, well-structured, and very well organized. There was hardly any waiting time, and I was called in for my appointment surprisingly quickly. The facilities were also outstanding. Both the hospital itself and the X-ray department were equipped with modern, high-quality technology, which made the whole process smooth and efficient. Overall, it was an impressive and reassuring experience.

Although I felt well cared for during my visit, I was unsure why I was asked to come in at 7am only to not have my procedure done until around 11.30. I was originally scheduled to come at 9.10 but got a call earlier in the week asking to come at 7am -reception didn’t seem to be aware of the time change when I arrived. They still managed to accommodate me, but there was just too much time spent waiting around between my initial checks and the procedure.

The London Clinic offers such a comfortable and clean environment, clinical in all the right ways, but still homely and warm. It feels far less “hospital-like” than most medical settings, which really helped me relax. The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and genuinely approachable from the moment I walked in. And the unlimited coffee on tap was a lovely touch! Overall, a calm, high quality clinic experience that made a big difference to my visit.

Spire was brilliant. Clean, Friendly staff, fast process (MRI in just a few days for example). I had a nerve block injection at Murrayfield and I had my own room which was spotless, all the staff were great from the nurse in the ward to the surgeon via the person who brought me lunch (which I could pick off a menu). Would highly recommend (though don’t injure yourself in the first place if you can help it)

Lovely place. It felt calm and reassuring as soon as you walk into reception. Greeted with a smile at reception and this continued throughout the whole process from the lady who provided tea, the nurses, the anaesthetist and the porter.
