We opted for private care at UCLH because we wanted the birth experience to be as positive as possible. As a medically uncomplicated patient I felt that I may not receive much attention or time on an overstretched NHS ward. I also had some anxieties around birth (as a healthcare professional myself) and felt reassured to be receiving consultant-led care, from a clinician with whom I was able to build a trusting relationship. Shalini provided exceptional care from 32 weeks pregnancy and after delivery. She got to know me and my partner, and understood our priorities and concerns. I had previously found it hard to make decisions around birth. Shalini provided us with evidence, data and her experience - this empowered us to make our decisions. She spent a lot of time with us and brought great care, empathy and kindness to her practice, as well as her excellent clinical skills. When we had questions, fears or anxieties Shalini was able to reassure us, both with her kindness and her experience and expertise. The care she provides is holistic and individualised - she advocated for me in many ways and empowered me to advocate for myself too. We had an elective caesarean at 39 weeks. The surgery was pain free and crucially for me, I felt confident and safe - something that was not natural for me in approaching birth. Shalini was close at hand to care for us before and afterwards. I made an excellent recovery and have healed extremely well. I recommend Dr Shalni in the strongest terms to mothers and families looking for private care at UCLH. Shalini is passionate about obstetrics, her patients and practising medicine. It is a great privilege to be cared for by a clinician at the top of her field, who clearly cares deeply about her patients.

Mr Jan Marciniak

The first time I met Mr Marciniak I felt I had known him for years. He made me feel at ease straight away and spoke to me as if I was his first ever patient or a member of his family. He explained I a way I could understand, e exactly what had happened to my hip and recently to my knee with the help of my Xrays. He then went on to explain what the operation would involve and to the extent of showing me a replica joint. I knew " I was in good hands" He later rang me afterwards to make sure I was OK about the operation then prior to the actual procedure he came to see me in my room and then a couple of hours afterwards to see how I was. I was very relaxed and Mr Marciniak couldn't have done anymore. Speaking to other nurses and staff they couldn't speak any more highly of him and have stipulated that they would want him to operate on them if the need be. His after care has been exemplary, wanting the best for me. This was also the case after my knee replacement 6 months later. Mr Marciniak is a very special person doing a job he loves always with a smile on his face and making you feel important. Too many people will talk negatively and complain about the NHS but personally with having a few dealings with Doctors etc I can honestly say we have an exceptional service with tremendous people working in these sectors. Mr Marciniak is up there with the best.

I felt safe in the cleanest, calmest environment. The information I received was top notch and I have never experienced such kindness to me. Dr Ibrahim was very kind and I felt that someone was finally listening to me after many months. Truly Exceptional After experiencing pain from my new hospital contact lenses I was able to book an appointment with Drew far sooner than my Hospital would see me. Drew very quickly determined that ill-fitting lenses were causing Conjunctival Prolapse and advised how best to proceed. Essentially the lenses used by my Hospital were not appropriate for my eyes and, since the Hospital will not use alternative lenses, Drew was able to fit and supply better lenses. These new contact lenses give excellent vision and comfort, even though I have a particular eye condition which makes it very difficult to fit contacts, despite lenses being the only solution for me. Thank you Drew and Team!

The King Edward V11 hospital is the best of the best in London. The cleanliness, kindness, fabulously trained and knowledgeable professionals in each and every department are second to none. I’ve been visiting this hospital for more than 45 years, and always had a most positive experience. From the Porters and Reception team to their Consultants and Physiotherapists, they are impossible to fault. On my most recent visit, I visited the imaging department, and was scanned by the amazing Dr Clare Allen, and her team. She was the personification of professionalism, yet also one of the most empathetic Consultants I have ever come across. I can’t recommend her or her team, more highly.

RTN Mental Health - Private

The most stressful and frustrating part of using RTN services is the lack of communication and poor response times. I have used RTN both via the right to choose path and for a private assessment. You would expect the private service to be quicker and have better communication but this has not been my experience. It is impossible to get hold of anybody. I have sent multiple emails and left voicemail but there is no sense of urgency in responding and waiting times are long. You don't even receive an acknowledgement or holding email to manage expectations. Some very basic and easy changes could be made to make the customer experience so much better.

Very clear explanation of what he could do for both of my eyes and possible problems for him due to some medical problems I have ( very over active thyroid gland and no natural hearing but have a cochlear implant on left side ). Also clear explanation of numbing my eye or general and whether one eye or both eyes having cateract removal and stents for glaucoma in one surgery. Every aspect of surgeries considered, explained and fully understood by me so I could make a decision with regard to surgery.

Kingsbridge Diagnostic and Treatment Centre

Disabled parking wasn’t available at the car park for the Diagnostic Centre or at Outpatients at the main site. In fact, there were no spaces for anyone to park. Although I arrived at the car park in good time, being unable to park meant I had to drive around until I found a spot to park on the street, the very thing that Kingsbridge is advising patients not to do. The onus should be on Kingsbridge, not the patient, to have planned adequate patient parking before offering private patient services.

From the moment i arrived at Spire on 7 October, from the reception team, kitchen staff, cleaners, nurses, Anaesthetist, Consultant, theatre staff , pharmacy team( hope i haven't missed anyone), i was put at ease and made comfortable.
