    Mr Philip Stenhouse

    Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Thank goodness we found you! My son was born with torticollis and, as a result, always slept on one side. We had no idea this would lead to the flattening of his head, especially since no advice was provided post-birth. He was subsequently diagnosed with Plagiocephaly and a 15mm asymmetry (which is classed as moderate). We felt incredibly let down by the initial lack of guidance. While repositioning could have helped in those early weeks, by the time we realised there was an issue, too much time had passed to correct it without intervention. Navigating the next steps was difficult, as we were faced with a plethora of misinformation. We had several NHS and private consultations, but no one could categorically tell us that a helmet would fix it. The "party line" from the NHS is that they don’t work, but I can now categorically say that is simply not true! We initially met with a different helmet company but got cold feet when they couldn't guarantee the results, they estimated a "best-case" improvement of only 9mm. Following a discussion with Bassel Zebian, a Paediatric Neurosurgeon at King's College Hospital, he recommended we see Dr. Stenhouse at Ahead4babies. After discovering that two of our friends had also used them, we felt reassured enough to reach out. From the very first phone call, we were sold. They were clear about what to expect, answered all our questions, and confirmed they could get the asymmetry down to 0mm. Knowing the clinic is run by craniofacial surgeons gave us total peace of mind that we were in good hands. Dr. Stenhouse, who carried out our son’s treatment, is a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at King’s College Hospital. He is incredibly honest about expected outcomes and will not recommend a helmet if it isn't truly necessary. After the first meeting, you are given the space to digest the information and decide whether or not to proceed. This was a breath of fresh air compared to other companies that seem to focus more on profit than actual need. While other helmets might look "flashier," they often work by removing layers as the head grows. In my opinion, this is far less effective than Dr. Stenhouse’s approach, as he bespokely trims the inside of the helmet to accurately adapt to the head as it grows. Our son wore his helmet for 17 weeks in total. We eventually agreed it was time to stop at 1mm asymmetry rather than risk overcorrection. Throughout the process, the 24/7 WhatsApp support team was fantastic, making the entire journey incredibly smooth. To any parents in doubt, if your child has moderate or severe asymmetry and you are past the first 12 weeks where repositioning is most effective, get the helmet! It is extremely unlikely to improve significantly on its own. It is also VERY important that you take action early while their head is still soft to see faster results, ideally as soon as they can support their head (around 4–5 months). I hope this helps other parents navigating this process. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me on social media. I’ll leave you with a picture of the result, one happy baby with a perfectly shaped head!

When I first came to Rosie, I had been struggling with gut and digestion issues for quite some time. I was also trying very hard to “do everything right” — following many well-known, trendy gut-health recommendations that are widely considered healthy. To my surprise, through working together I learned that much of what I had been doing was actually making my situation worse rather than better. This required a complete rethink — almost a 180-degree shift in how I was eating and supporting my body. What stood out immediately was Rosie’s ability to look beyond generic advice and understand what was actually happening in my system. I’m someone who likes to understand things deeply, and I always felt that she fully understood my questions and was able to take the conversation much further than symptom management. Our work quickly moved beyond digestion alone into a much deeper understanding of how my body functions as a whole — including physiology, stress responses, and longer-term regulation. Over time, this has evolved into a health optimisation process, with the aim of creating sustainable, lifelong adjustments rather than short-term fixes. Rosie is exceptionally thorough, calm, and attentive. She takes time to listen, doesn’t rush, and is thoughtful and measured in her recommendations. At the same time, her knowledge is broad and deeply grounded, which gave me a strong sense of trust from the very first session. I remember leaving that first appointment feeling, for the first time, that my health issues were genuinely workable and that I was in capable, supportive hands. I would wholeheartedly recommend Rosie to anyone looking for a practitioner who combines deep knowledge with care, precision, and a truly individual approach — especially if you want to understand your body properly and work towards long-term health rather than quick solutions.

From my initial appointment with Mr Hoo, I felt all my questions were answered and felt at ease, from the onset I knew I would choose Mr Hoo as my surgeon. I had done a lot of research for my procedure and felt reassured from my initial appointment. Pauline (Mr Hoo’s nurse) was also very informative and patient regarding any questions which I had. My surgery was booked and due to unforeseen circumstances had to rescheduled, Brenda in appointments was very helpful and offered me a cancellation slot which I was very thankful for. On the day of surgery, I was admitted into the admission pod and here all staff were attentive, I met with the anaesthetist and Mr Hoo and thereafter went to theatre. The theatre nurse and anaesthetist were so lovely, talked me through everything and I felt reassured. Thereafter, in the recovery ward, the nurse was excellent when asked about pain, I was immediately given pain meds which eased the pain and brought upstairs to a room which the excellent care continued. Mr Hoo came to see me and answer any further questions, truly 5* service from the onset. The hospital was spotless and attention to detail by all staff was exceptional.

Zack treated my son for deep verrucas caused by swimming, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the care we received. The diagnosis and treatment were done in the same appointment, and everything was handled with so much care and professionalism. My son is 9 years old and was understandably nervous, but Zack was fantastic at keeping him calm, confident, and engaged throughout the treatment. He was reassuring, patient, and made the whole experience far less daunting. The treatment itself was quick and very well managed. We went back for a follow-up today and were given the all-clear, along with a top-up treatment to remove any remaining dead skin and ensure nothing was left behind. Zack explained everything clearly to both my son and me, which really empowered us and reassured us that this was the best course of action. Zack was excellent — funny, caring, and professional — exactly what you want, especially when treating a young child. I would highly recommend him without hesitation.

Dr Deepak Parasuraman made both my daughter and me feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were attending for a children’s ADHD assessment, and I was very anxious as my daughter is excellent at masking her symptoms. Before the assessment even began, Dr Parasuraman took time to build rapport with her — making her laugh and helping her feel comfortable — which allowed her to be her true, confident self. He is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced. The room felt like an open, safe space to talk, and he explained everything clearly while thoughtfully observing my daughter. Dr Parasuraman was professional, understanding, and genuinely empathetic throughout. I highly recommend MUMS for this service, particularly with Dr Deepak Parasuraman, and will be recommending them to anyone who needs similar support. Thank you for all of your help and excellent service.

This was a follow-up appointment. It should have been after 2 weeks but because the practitioner works very part-time this wasn’t possible. She then said I should have been in sooner! Treatment not as successful as with past practitioners before we moved to this area (I had brought records to first appointment but she had suggested a different approach). Further treatment offered on the day of the follow-up but I felt the practitioner was getting very defensive and I was losing confidence, so I declined. When I was waiting to go in someone else was trying to book a follow-up appointment. When she couldn’t get one desk staff said it probably didn’t matter as most people don’t need it! This clinic suits me location wise but unfortunately this wasn’t a great experience so I won’t go back.

I had LASIK surgery with Allon Barsam yesterday, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. My vision feels unbelievably clear, almost like seeing through the eyes of a superhero. Allon guided me through every step of the procedure as it was happening, which made the entire experience feel calm, safe, and reassuring. The surgery was genuinely painless; there was one brief moment of discomfort that lasted no more than 10 seconds, and he calmly counted down the seconds so I knew exactly what to expect. My eyes stung a little afterwards, but after a short nap I woke up feeling completely fine. If you’re considering laser eye surgery, I can’t recommend it highly enough. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Thank you so much to Allon and the team at OCL.

Dr De Burgh Thomas telephoned me today as a follow up to my appointment in the HH clinic on 30/12/2025, with news of some test results, and to advise me to stop taking the antibiotics I was originally given as they are ineffective against the 2 bacteria which the tests have shown are present. He said he would call me back when he had checked which antibiotics would work for both bacteria. He duly did, and I will collect the medicine and start the course tomorrow. Dr De Burgh Thomas has also asked me to attend the clinic on Monday for further testing to rule out diabetes. I have found him to be friendly yet professional, and has answered all of my questions clearly. I feel reassured, and hope that the change in treatment will be effective.

My visit with Mr Treharne was truly impactful. After many years I have finally got a diagnosis and future treatment is pending. He was able to signpost me to the next steps I need to take. He listened and importantly heard my story/concerns. He allowed me to lead the conversation. I never felt rushed. He took the time to offer me an ultrasound which gave us a lot of information. For the first time in years, I can see a little light at the end of a tunnel. Which will not only help me physically but will also help my emotional health. You can tell that Alan is someone who is still very passionate about his field and is open to further learning and new techniques. Thank you so much.

Robert Grounds provided an exceptional initial consultation in respect of my ongoing balance issues following a stoke I suffered a year ago. His questioning to find out key areas of my background and relevance to balance issues was impressive. I was pleased that all initial balance tests were completed within the initial consultation and this left me with answers immediately to explain my condition. I was incredibly impressed to receive Robert Grounds full letter just a few hours later via. the portal with a detailed summary of his findings explained in very clear terms which was remarkable. Truly exceptional service from an amazing professional. Highly recommended.

The staff at KIMS Hospital are truly amazing and incredibly friendly. Their professionalism and genuine compassion were unmatched by any experience I’ve had in NHS care. I felt supported, reassured, and well looked after from start to finish. Several people stood out during my stay: Amy in recovery, David, who prepared me for the epidural, Becky, my physio, and Mark, who handled my medication. My two nurses who cared for me around the clock were also outstanding — attentive, kind, and consistently reassuring. I honestly can’t fault any part of the care I received. Thank you to the entire team for making a daunting experience so much easier.

The Manor Hospital appeared clean, pleasant environment and staff were friendly. There is however one major issue - Car Parking. I nearly missed my appointment despite arriving 35 minutes prior. The car park does not appear adequate for the volume of patients and staff. A vehicle had been parked and blocked the car park, presumably because they thought were going to miss their appointment. This was resolved by creating a one way system which finally allowed me to, by luck, get a space. As an improvement it might be good if when booking, the booker tells the patient of possible alternative car parks in the area that they might have to use?

I couldn't recommend him enough as he is brilliant at what he does. The nurses were very nice too. When I got back to my room I got a cuppa & a scone & I was out of hospital & on way home just after 9am. I would highly recommend Dr.O'Donnell as he is so professional & made me feel at ease. Welcoming and helpful. Only one lift was working and the remaining one was noisy and slow but there was a notice advising of this. The coffee machine in wait area was out of order Reception staff were kind and helpful but sometimes difficult to understand accent. One set of chairs in a sub waiting area was under a shelf which meant I knocked my head. Appeared clean and efficient and was quiet on day of my visit. Preoperative bloods were done straight after consultation which is very good and in fact results appeared next day. That's good service. Overall allowing for things that happen a positive experience.

Bit offended by dr Basu. Loved the sound of his own voice, kept butting in when I was trying to explain things. Granted I'm overweight but to go straight to pushing weight loss jabs and a gastric sleeve as if I'm not capable of loosing weight and building up my fitness levels on my own (which I've started and as a retired athlete I'm very capable of that commitment and focus) and have to pay for the privilege of his condescending bedside manner. Will go back just to rub his face in it after dropping the weight and then go see another specialist who doesn't see me as a walking paycheck...

I had my wisdom teeth extracted yesterday at Quality Dental Practice in Worthing, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’m so grateful for the excellent care and would highly recommend this practice to anyone.
