Mr Sanjay Verma

Mr Sanjay Verma is a highly regarded senior Consultant ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon whose career spans more than three decades across leading centres of excellence in the UK and internationally. He graduated with distinction in Medicine from the University of Cambridge (completing a PhD as well as a triple First class medical degree) before undertaking specialist ENT training within the Cambridge region. His talent and dedication were recognised early in his career when he was awarded the prestigious Thomas Wickham-Jones ENT Fellowship, which took him to Toronto General Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. There, he gained advanced expertise in the management of adult ear, nose and balance disorders, as well as complex paediatric ENT conditions.

In 2012, Mr Verma expanded his surgical horizons further at the renowned Causse Clinic in Béziers, France, where he trained in laser ear and hearing surgery, as well as cosmetic otoplasty for children with prominent ears. His practice has continued to evolve with a strong subspecialist focus on nose and sinus surgery. He is particularly experienced in septal and endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) being the first surgeon to introduce Balloon Sinuplasty at the Nuffield Leeds Hospital. He routinely manages nasal and sinus issues, offering surgical treatments to improve breathing, relieve nasal obstruction and address snoring. His expertise extends to assessing and treating salivary and neck lumps, voice problems and swallowing difficulties, supported by his ability to perform flexible nasoendoscopy during clinic consultations.

Since 2009, Mr Verma has served as a Consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where he runs a comprehensive adult and paediatric ENT practice. He has played a pivotal role in introducing laser ear surgery, implantable hearing devices and coblation tonsillectomy to the region. He established the joint ENT/Neurology balance clinic and the multidisciplinary implantable hearing device service at Leeds General Infirmary, and he currently acts as Clinical Lead for the Lateral Skull Base (Acoustic Neuroma) ENT service.

Mr Verma is committed to surgical education and training. He has served as the Royal College of Surgeons Tutor for Leeds, ensuring the highest standards of training across the Trust. He is now the Education and Appraisal Lead for the Head and Neck Directorate and contributes to national progress in his field through his role on the ENT UK Committee for Global Health.  He is a sitting member of Council for the British Society of Otology.

Mr Verma has led the development of balloon tuboplasty for Eustachian tube dysfunction in Yorkshire and is pleased to offer this advanced treatment to patients at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital.
