Mr Mohammed Akmal

I have been under the care of Mr. Akmal since 2022, for treatment of Spinal disc degeneration. Without his professional skill and empathy I would still be in chronic pain. Having had a very successful disc replacement & fusion surgery back in 2023 under his care, further deterioration in other joints resulted in needing another bout of disc replacements and fusion in my cervical spine, and cortex spacers in my lumber spine. In late 2025 I embarked on another session of surgery and underwent the operation to replace, fuse and insert spacers in the offending areas of my Lumber & Cervical spine. I request both of my afflicted areas be treated in the same operation, whilst naturally cautious he undertook a rigorous assessment of the risks and eventually he and his team agreed to proceed. I had both my Cervical and Lumber spine treated in the same surgery and having entered at 07:00, I once again walked out at 18:00 on the same day. 2 weeks later the key hole wounds had healed I was off painkillers and well on the way to full recovery. My experience again is a testimony not only to the personal skill, knowledge and empathy of Mr. Akmal, but to all the people who enable such life changing surgery to happen, including the anaesthetist, surgical team, and ward staff. The successes of the surgery undertaken by Mr. Akmal and his highly skilled team are due not only to their professional skills, but to the holistic approach taken from diagnosis, explanation of options, type of painkillers and follow up care. Whilst the impact of aging and bodily wear cannot be escaped, Mr. Akmal does offer options to improve quality of life immensely. An interesting footnote is prior to the surgery I was suffering from Hypertension, post surgery my BP is back to normal for my age, a reflection of how chronic pain can affect you in more ways than one....!!

Mr Billy Wong

I met Mr Wong (Billy) around August 2024 for recurrent sinusitis and loss of taste / smell. Billy has always been so attentive, responsive, considerate and kind. Billy explains everything clearly so I completely understood what was happening. Billy is thorough in his care: obtaining images to better understand what is going on before making an ongoing plan. I recently had sinus surgery (FESS) with Billy as my condition had not improved despite good medical management. Billy is not only an incredibly skilled surgeon, he is also a fantastic and caring individual (with a good sense of humour too!). Billy met with me before surgery and reassured me, he was also in the pre op room, then in the theatre with me, then recovery and also post op to debrief and check up on how I was feeling. This kind of healthcare is so vital to people's wellbeing; this stuff matters, it's a shame that it's so rare, but with Billy; it's there as standard and flawless! I cannot recommend him enough. He acted quickly, arranging a procedure straight away, which led to a prompt diagnosis and clear treatment plan. When it became clear that the initial treatment was not effective and her circumstances changed, Professor Thompson continued to be incredibly supportive and proactive, adjusting her care and ensuring she moved onto an alternative treatment approach. Throughout the entire process, he remained attentive, approachable, and kept in touch, making sure we were fully informed at every stage. He has a calm, friendly manner and always puts our daughter at ease. We couldn’t recommend Professor Mike Thompson highly enough and are extremely grateful for his dedication and care.

Mr Ben Yates is in my opinion an excellent podiatric surgeon who gives a very good clinical opinion. I was unhappy that Mr Yates charged me for a “new patient” appointment when this was in fact a follow up appointment lasting about 12 minutes following previous surgery by Mr Yates. Furthermore, I did not receive a clinic letter from Mr Yates until I chased it up more than 2 weeks after my appointment. I received no apology for the delay in sending the letter. Mr Yate’s clinical letter did not contain all the information promised at the consultation and I was obliged to chase this information again. I emailed Mr Ben Yates to raise my concerns but I did not receive a reply from him.

The Clinic was a little difficult to find but once there the staff were excellent and very efficient. My appointment was on time and the waiting area was warm and comfortable. There had been an administrative problem that I had mentioned to the lady on arrival and that was completely sorted out by the time I left which was extremely efficient. Mr Murthy was most kind and was willing to operate but said that services were not available and that the anesthetist would not operate. He advised me to continue via NHS. Given these facts and that this was the 4th consultant I have seen I am far from happy. No criticism of Mr Murthy he was extremely kind and honest.
