I was seen by a young male dentist (apologies, he did tell me but I can't recall his name and it isn’t listed on the website – perhaps he is new). He was professional, informative, and efficient throughout my appointment. As I’m allergic to local anaesthetics, fillings can be particularly uncomfortable, but he was very reassuring and took great care, as did the dental nurse. By far, this has been the best service I’ve experienced at the practice to date. My only critique is not directed at the dentist himself, but rather the practice’s policy. Over the past couple of years, I’ve noticed that patients cannot book a filling replacement directly without first having a pre-booking consultation. This essentially doubles both the cost and the time needed off work. In my case, a chipped filling was causing pain due to decay, and it was obvious that a replacement filling was required. I had to insist several times when booking that I did not need a pre-assessment, only a filling appointment. Given that I am a private patient and a silver filling costs almost £200, being charged for an unnecessary pre-booking simply to confirm what is already evident feels unreasonable.

I was referred to Professor Singh for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections at KIMS Hospital in Maidstone to treat severe golfer’s elbow (in both elbows).  I had 2 treatments, around 6 weeks apart.  Whilst the post-procedural discomfort due to swelling made me worry that it hadn’t worked, Professor Singh is a really nice person to deal with and explained that the body takes several weeks to a few months for the treatment to really start taking effect, and that it will continue to work and alleviate the issue over many months; hopefully resolving it completely.  I have just had my 3-month check up following 2 treatments and can say the improvement is impressive. My pain has reduced considerably and I’m assured that it should continue to improve even more over the coming months.  I’m really grateful to Professor Singh and KIMS and wouldn’t hesitate to return for further treatments in future if needed.

Mr Biggs was the only ENT surgeon who improved my nasal respiratory issues significantly. And it has been life changing. 1st op quartering wasn’t enough 2nd op tried to correct a deviated septum and broke my nose and made matters worse 3rd op tried to correct damage of 2nd op but left a whistling hole in my septum 4th op was to repair hole in my septum that once again blocked my breathing. Finally Mr Biggs offered me an operation no one else did and it has had the best results. My breathing at night is vastly improved and also when exercising. Because I am on Biologics that cause rhinitis I am very grateful to Mr Biggs for improving my quality of life, vastly. I waited a long time but it was worth it. I wish this op was what I had been offered initially. That would have saved an enormous amount of funding. Maybe treatment options can be better managed to save on number of ops.

I would highly rate the care that I was given throughout my time in the hospital and I would like to commend the nursing staff in particular, however I have one major issue which has left me very dissastisfied. During my first appointment I was told that I needed the socket of my hip replaced and was given a price for that procedure. Then I met with another doctor who said that said if the whole hip needed replaced it would cost considerably more and quoted a price up to £12000 more if this work needed to be done. It was confirmed after the operation that I only needed the socket replaced but was charged the price quoted for a full hip replacement without any explanation. I would like to hear from someone about resolving this issue.

My visit for follow up physio after shoulder replacement was , on the whole very good . That said and only because you have asked for an honest opinion , the only problem that I encountered was communication between myself and the practitioner. I know that many medical practitioners come from abroad and that they are excellent at their job . Because I struggled to understand sometimes key parts of conversations , this led to misinterpretation on my part . I consider that I am a good communicator but I did find it hard . All that said the physio has put me back on the right track and hopefully the outcome will be fine . It’s hard to criticise good people . Hopefully this will help with your understanding of patients experiences .

Dr Katherine Spencer-Smith was delightful. I created some confusion turning up for an appointment I had actually cancelled in my own confusion. Katherine very graciously agreed to see me anyway despite it disrupting her schedule. She had a very cheery and pleasant manner and looked at my condition from a different perspective to previous doctors which made perfect sense to what I was feeling. Despite my error over the appointment she gave me plenty of time and didn't rush the appointment at all.

The place was short-staffed. The receptionist's desk in the waiting area was unmanned. My consultant was fine, but he needed a nurse and none was available. So he went round looking for one with me but in vain. He had planned for tests but those could not be completed. The machine for one of those tests had apparently broken down a while ago and had not been fixed/replaced. My consultant therefore arranged for me to return another day to a another hospital.

My experience of the hospital ward staff, the theatre staff and the after care was very good. The post op care from Mr Keeling in particular was excellent as he responded to email queries I had very promptly. I found my surgery was quite debilitating in the first 2 - 3 weeks, and although I did my own research and reading up on what to expect post - op, there was some very useful advice and tips online which could be included in your post leaflet advice.

Greeted me warmly and politely explained whole steps of procedure which I was going thorough to resolve health issue. On the day of procedure Mr Havary came personally to see me when I was in my room as well before anaesthetic and after when I fully awake. Follow up appointment was also well conducted. Very good specialist who shows great care of patients.
