I initially booked a half hour consultation having suffered from acute urinary retention and therefore 3 months use of a catheter due to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. I found Mr Su-Min Lee very easy to talk to as he has a great sense of humour which put me at ease. He took time to explain the options available to me and let me decide on the best course of action. He was very informative and I didn't feel rushed at all. A couple of days later I decided to go ahead with a Holep operation. I paid to have this privately in my local NHS hospital, Southmead in Bristol. I was offered a date that was about 3 weeks after my initial consultation. He met me again on the morning the surgery to put me at ease and the treatment that I received from the medical team at the hospital was very good. It is now 6 weeks post operation and as far as I am concerned it was a success. My urinary issues are resolved with the exception of the expected slight bit of stress incontinence which is improving daily.

As I am not a well person and a wheelchair user, the wait was longer due to my health and help to get out. The staff were very understanding around this. I found though, beyond reception the phone system was not the easiest due to the very short length of time given to leave your message, which for people who are disabled, so not the fastest just basic messages of name, number, DOB plus short message, it frequently cut off before you had finished. Beyond that, it was a pleasant experience as it was the least painful steroid injection I'd had to date and I did let the consultant know that. The staff were helpful and accommodating as a wheelchair user plus self employed PA we know we take up space, so not the easiest inside a small room. Thankfully I can still transfer which helps so I can fold the wheelchair up once on to the couch. The staff were very helpful around my safety doing so which is always really appreciated. Please thank them for me.

I approached Miss Akolekar on October 25th.for a second opinion, recommended by BUPA. She immediately assessed my situation and within a week had organised an Ultrasound scan (then a PetScan) and appointments with an oncologist, a haematologist and a plastic surgeon. The plastic surgeon and his specialist nurse initiated a wound dressing regime which healed my mastectomy wound in just over a week (a wound that had remained open and infected since early August). This is a truly excellent service. I had been to another ear wax removal specialist a few days earlier who had failed to unblock my ears after half an hour of trying. I have a particular shape of ear canal that causes the wax to sit stubbornly on the ear drum. Rekesh is very personable and knowledgable and has a lovely comfortable treatment room. Within a few minutes he had completely unblocked both my ears, almost effortlessly. I was delighted and I highly recommend this service.
