Mr Sreekumar Sundara Rajan

Mr. Sreekumar Sundara Rajan is a highly experienced Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and the Cancer Lead for the Breast Services at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust. With over a decade of expertise in breast surgery, Mr. Rajan provides comprehensive care for both men and women, offering treatments for benign conditions, cosmetic concerns, and breast cancer.

Combining the principles of plastic surgery and cancer surgery (Oncoplastic Surgery), Mr. Rajan offers a full range of breast-conserving cancer surgery options, including partial breast reconstruction, breast reduction surgery, and breast reconstruction using implants. He also specialises in benign breast surgeries, such as the correction of male breast enlargement (Gynaecomastia), treatment for nipple discharge, and the excision of benign breast lumps using aesthetically pleasing or concealed scars.

Mr. Rajan is dedicated to providing individualised care, recognising the physical and emotional impact of cancer surgery. He offers a complete range of breast cancer treatments, including lumpectomy, mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and axillary node clearance. He specialises in skin and nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction, and offers simultaneous surgery on the opposite breast to achieve symmetry. His expertise in partial breast reconstruction facilitates breast-preserving surgical options for women with breast cancer, allowing his patients to move forward confidently after treatment.

Mr. Rajan was awarded the prestigious National TIG Oncoplastic Fellowship at Nottingham University Hospital and worked as a Consultant in the North West of England before joining University Hospital Birmingham. As Cancer Lead for one of the largest Breast Services in the UK, he is passionate about providing exemplary care while also training the next generation of breast surgeons, mentoring national and international surgical fellows.

He was awarded an MD for his research into male breast cancer from the University of Leeds and has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in international journals. A member of the Cochrane Group, Mr. Rajan remains committed to evidence-based medicine and ongoing research in the field of breast surgery.
