Ravi is a Consultant Specialist Hip and Knee Surgeon specialising in sports injury reconstruction and joint replacement surgery. He is highly qualified in robotic surgery, using it at times where he feels it can achieve the best possible outcomes for those specific patients and cases.
Having trained at some of the leading centres in the world, Ravi looks to utilise his skills to offer the finest possible evidence-based care, tailoring each plan to the individual in an effort to enable his patient's to return to peak function.
Ravi is an expert in joint replacement surgery, with a particular interest in partial knee replacement surgery, and soft tissue surgery (for knee cartilage, meniscus and ligament damage, as well as issues with kneecap instability). At the outset he believes in using both operative and non-operative approaches in an attempt to save the patient's natural joint where possible, working with his patients to find the best suitable approach for the individual. He has expertise managing elite athletes, weekend-warriors as well as those who lead more relaxed lifestyles.
Ravi takes a holistic approach to his practice, ensuring that he takes the time to listen to his patients and uses the latest technology to identify the cause of his patient's symptoms. He makes sure to explain things clearly using easy-to-understand terms and allows plenty of time for his patients to ask questions and discuss concerns. This allows patients to make the best treatment decisions possible.

Mr Ravi Popat is consistently described as professional and reassuring in his interactions with patients. He provides clear explanations of conditions, surgical options, and recovery plans. Patients report successful outcomes and improved mobility following various orthopaedic procedures. These experiences frequently involve knee replacement, meniscus repair, and hip replacement procedures.
When I was researching knee replacement surgeons, I was attracted by reviews mentioning Mr Popat’s professionalism and empathy and from the first moment we met, I knew I’d chosen a surgeon I could trust implicitly. As my case was a little more challenging than usual, Mr Popat wanted to discuss the options with fellow surgeons, which I found very refreshing. Surgery went well and I am delighted with the results. He said he wanted to make a difference for his patients, and he’s certainly done that for me.
I was seen on time and Mr Popat was knowledgeable and helpful
I could not fault the care I received (I have very high standards!) There was a clear plan and everyone who looked after me on the day were kind and helpful. The room was very clean and well maintained. The follow up appointment wasn't at all rushed and covered all areas. I would see Mr Popat if ever I needed any other work.
Awesome, so understanding , really made me feel understood and explained the problem and process really well
I cannot recommend Mr Popat highly enough. From the initial consultation through to post-operative care, the entire experience was outstanding. I sustained a knee injury while playing rugby, and his expertise, precision, and confidence immediately put me at ease. The surgery itself was a complete success, and the recovery plan was clearly explained and carefully monitored. Thanks to his exceptional skill and professionalism, my knee is healing well and I’m on track to return to sport. An excellent surgeon who genuinely cares about his patients and delivers fantastic results.
I saw Dr Ravi Popat for a knee consultation and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the start, he took the time to properly listen to what had been going on, asked the right questions, and explained everything in a way that actually made sense. No rushing, no generic answers. What really stood out was how thorough and reassuring he was. He went through the scan results carefully, talked me through the options, and made sure I understood the pros and cons before moving forward. I left the appointment feeling informed and confident, not stressed or unsure. You can tell he genuinely cares about getting the right outcome for his patients. Professional, knowledgeable, and very approachable. I’d have no hesitation recommending him to anyone dealing with knee issues.
This is my 6th day post operation and everything is going to plan. From my initial meeting with Mr Popat and on the day of the procedure and post operation I must say that i have been very impressed and made to feel so reassured. Everything so far i cannot fault Adrian R

Delighted to hear that things are going well! All the best over the Christmas / New year period. Please get in touch if you need anything.
I had severe pain from Osteoarthritis which the NHS were throwing as much delay at as possible. I had a busy year planned with commitments abroad and it was impossible to to arrange a treatment plan. I consulted Ravi via a Spire hospital. He was able to format a plan, including pain relieving injections so that the replacement operation fitted in with the end of my travel arrangements. He explained everything clearly throughout the process ad then, with fantastic skill, carried out the operation. I only needed one night in the hospital and 17 days after was signed off by the physio as not requiring further attention. I walk with no limp at all and can climb stairs normally. Overall a great team led by a superb caring surgeon.
Mr Popat is the kindest man I've ever met in the medical profession.. He was kindness itself. Put me at ease before my operation. Saw me afterwards & again today. I would recommend him to anyone. Which I already have. 1st class

Mr James Langdon
Orthopaedic SurgeonI have worked closely with Ravi Popat over the past 2 years and hold his clinical expertise in very high regard. As a knee specialist, he demonstrates excellent clinical judgement and a clear, evidence-based approach to patient care. I have had the opportunity to rehabilitate numerous patients following ACL reconstruction under his care, consistently seeing well-planned surgical pathways and strong postoperative outcomes. He works exceptionally well within a multidisciplinary team, and I would confidently recommend him to both patients and professional colleagues.
