I had two excellent experiences at the Cleveland yesterday. First Norman did the most thorough and careful echocardiogram. He took endless trouble so as to give the cardiologist views of my heart and its valves from every angle and perspective. The cardiologist was most impressed and helped by all the additional information this gave him. Dr Sam Dawkins, my cardiologist told me and showed me by using these images how well the TAVI and the reduction of the septum are working as they have not only hugely improved flow through my aortic valve but also through my mitral valve. Dr Dawkins is a brilliant cardiologist and an amazing thinker. I was faced with open heart surgery to replace two valves and excision of thickened areas of heart muscle; a very risky operation with a long and maybe unsuccessful period of recovery. Dr Dawkins devised the novel procedures he carried out on me on 24/10/24. The success of this is totally down to his skill and the trouble he took. He was excellently supported by the doctors and staff of the Cleveland during the operation. I hope he is able to share the knowledge of my operation with other cardiologists so more patients can avoid open heart surgery and be given back their health the way I was. Thank you Dr Dawkins

This was so different from when I was here 10 years ago. The nursing staff were so lovely this time, cheerful and friendly and Lou was particularly helpful. All staff everywhere were kind and pleasant. The physiotherapists led by Carmen were astonishing. Their whole approach was helpful and kindly, the exercises were achievable, the support was just excellent including the post op phone call to me at home. I feel really positive about it all. I also commend the food, it was fantastically good especially the lamb stew, very Elizabeth David . And I really liked the inflating things on my feet the first night, very soothing. The one thing I didn't like was the tsunami of emails with essential information, each with a link to a cloud, needing a password . This took ages to navigate, and I gave up. When I mentioned this in person I got a really good booklet which I'm still using. It takes seconds to flip from section to section, it works and is useful. Perhaps if each email made it clear what section it's about, then that might help. But it's quicker to use the paper version.

This was my first colonoscopy procedure so I didn’t know what to expect and was quite anxious. Looking at the patient reviews on this site beforehand really helped me so I wanted to add my own comments here as well. The 2 day preparation for my late afternoon procedure (fasting and drinking the cleansing medication) was actually the worst part, however I followed the instructions and kept myself very hydrated throughout, that along with a couple of boiled sweets in the last couple of hours to stop the hunger pangs really helped. The clinic staff were all really friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived and talked me through the process throughout so I knew what to expect. I had sedation for the procedure itself which was completely painless, and I got the results quickly. At all times my wellbeing was prioritised by the staff, with 1 to 1 nursing and a very welcome drink and biscuit afterwards. Special thanks from me to Roberta and Dr Khan, and my aftercare nurse whose name I forgot (sorry!)

I thought that I would drop you a note by way of some feedback. I came to your hospital yesterday for some “pre-med” bits, e.g. blood test, MRSA, ECG, BP, all in preparation for a procedure on my left thumb that is scheduled for 19th Feb with Chis James. I arrived about 15 minutes before the 12.30 appointment to be greeted by the quite delightful Margaret who promised to not to take too much blood!, so far so good, then off to see Aisha for the other bits to include the ECG. What a charming person Aisha was. I have to say that the whole process was quite remarkable, unlike many NHS environments where, its more that probable the appointment would run late, sometimes for very good reason. Certainly not so with your team at Ashford One. Super-efficient, smiley (esp. Margaret) a pleasure to visit, not often said when going to hospital. May I prevail on you to please pass on my grateful thanks to the two of them and of course all the “unseen” members of the team. All a credit to you.

Professor Plaha is an incredibly rare human being. Within 24 hours of my MRI scan being sent to him, he took responsibility for my care. The subsequent week, he met with me and guided me through my condition with a clear prognosis and a plan for treatment. He referred me onwards to other neurologists who were able to adapt my medication accordingly to ensure pre-operative stability. Along with his expert team, he operated to resect my tumour in a highly sensitive location with precision and success. He followed up after surgery with histology results and I have recently met with him at GenesisCare in Oxford, which promptly took place after my 3 month post operative MRI scan. In clinic, and as always - he exuded true warmth, humility, professionalism and integrity. He is a true specialist in his field and I am gracious to be under his care. Where anyone is looking for a true expert in his field in difficult and challenging circumstances, you must go no further.

After having an initial consultation and X-rays Mr Holton recommended a bilateral hip replacement in 2 stages . Both operations were successful with little or no pain/ discomfort. I had good mobility in as little as 4 weeks which was well above my expectations. I believe this was not only due to Mr Holton’s knowledge and expertise but also the. Mako Robotic Arm technology that I was offered on my initial consultation after Mr Holton explained the benefits . I can only say that the surgery has transformed my life and I am active again! Mr Holton is a truly dedicated and competent Surgeon a thoroughly nice man who is easy to talk to and has a very caring attitude. Billie was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. She took x-rays of my back lower and upper teeth where I felt pain and she explained everything very clearly as to why I was experiencing pain. She said it can come and go and today the pain seems to have gone! I took her advice to use a tepe between the two roots of the back molar giving the problem. Billie was most friendly and reassuring and it was good to have her suggested options such as root canal treatment or extraction if the pain becomes unmanageable.

It was a private appoint & I paid for the ILR device. That was fine but I have been disappointed with the follow up since which seems to provide no reassurance that the ILR results are being looked at / reviewed so it is a case of assuming "no news is good news". In my view this is poor, if not unsatisfactory and it seems to me an initial 3 month review email followed by half yearly emails would be welcomed by patients. Also issue of contact phone numbers would be helpful e.g. technical. episode queries

The staff at Cathedral Clinic were very professional and tried to make me comfortable. However the actual procedure was not an enjoyable experience. having anaesthetic injected into my eye was very traumatic and having gone through the procedure before and it not 100% and having to return for Laser. I so hope that my left eye will not have the same result. Overall I would recommend the clinic and staff to anyone who has to have the procedure done. Bernadette M.

The procedure was so quick from the start to finish. Very pleasant staff. The good thing is I wasn't waiting too long so I was straight in & out within an hour & a half. Dr. O'Donnell is very efficient & brilliant at what he does. He is a very nice person very down to earth. Highly recommend him if you're thinking about going to get any type of bein treatment at all. Nothing was awkward at all & I was made to feel very comfortable.

Waited about 20min for my appointment with consultant Then during my meeting with him He took a non urgent phone call my appointment that lasted approximately 10-15 mins He discharged me despite me saying I am getting lots of pain that disrupts my sleep and painkillers don’t help! I would have liked to have been referred to physio. But I was not offered it or anything except lift your arm forwards!
