About Mr Matthew Johnson
Mr Matthew Johnson is the Lead Consultant in gastroenterology at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, Bedfordshire, and at the Spire Harpenden Hospital in Hertfordshire. Mr Johnson graduated from St George's Medical School, London in 1995. He undertook his specialist training at Guy's, Kings and St Thomas' Hospital and is dual qualified as a General Medical Physician and Gastroenterologist.
Mr Johnson offers services for a range of gastroenterological issues including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease, functional bowel disorders, food allergies and intolerances (coeliac disease), acid reflux, indigestion (dyspepsia) and other upper gastrointestinal conditions. Mr Johnson is an expert in various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as capsule enteroscopy, oesophageal manometry studies, oesophageal cancer stenting. He has performed more than 3500 Upper Endoscopies and more than 3000 colonoscopies.
Mr Matthew Johnson has established an Oesophageal Laboratory with pH, Impedance and High-Resolution Manometry facilities to assess difficult reflux and oesophageal dysmotility problems and the Small Bowel Capsule Enteroscopy Service at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. He is actively involved in research and teaching. He is as a regional Advanced Constipation Treatment (ACT) Trainer, teaching other clinicians how to manage IBS and Constipation.

Waiting for x-ray results for 2 weeks now, only to get a call 2 days ago to inform me that the doctor is cancelling my appointment to go on holidays and that an over the phone appointment will be arranged. They failed to arrange the over the phone appointment at all leaving me in agony about my health issue.
I am sorry for your experience with the XRay department. Typically I forward the results instantly, once the report has been completed by the Radiologist. I am able to do this via an electronic system that I use called CareBit. If this has not happened, please call my secretarial team. On a personal note, I have been signed off from all work due to an unexpected illness. At the moment, it is not clear when I will be well enough to return. My secretarial team have had to find other doctors to cover my present work load, and find appointments for everyone at their earliest possible convenience. I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.
