Overall, Spire Elland was great and I would happily return should I require any further procedures in the future. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and everything is very clean. I think the main thing letting the hospital down is patient communication. All appointments and comms are recorded and delivered via an app. If you don't want to or aren't able to download the app (like me), you do end up being left a little in the dark about things. For example, I had been given a surgery date fairly soon after my initial consultation, which was great, however I hadn't been informed that there would be multiple pre-operative assessment appointments to attend - all of which were on-site at Spire Elland, which is around an hour's drive for us. On one occasion, I had to make last-minute arrangements to move clients around as I'd been unaware of an upcoming appointment - I'd received no email, no text, no phone call, no letter. I just so happened to log in to my online portal and find the appointment date there. I moved clients around so I could attend, and just a couple of days before my appointment received a text message to say the date had changed, with no explanation provided. I called to try and find out why this might be, but was met with a dismissive reply of, "We just had to move it". All of the documents outlining the process for my surgery and the prep I should do beforehand were provided online, and the online portal isn't the simplest to navigate, so accessing them wasn't as easy as it could have been. When I was admitted for my day surgery, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, although I did find that I received a blunt reply whenever I asked a question about anything. This was my first ever surgery and my first time being put under general anaesthetic, so naturally I was quite nervous. Some of the members of staff were very helpful and supportive, but others seemed to have little patience, which wasn't ideal and only served to make me more anxious. When I came to after the surgery, I had been expecting to have a bit of a handover with someone so I could at least find out how it had gone and what they had/hadn't found. Unfortunately, Mr Gan was occupied in another surgery, and so I was discharged before having the chance to speak to him. I asked the nurses for some clarification - any brief notes or insights they might be able to give to put my mind at ease a bit until I could speak with Mr Gan - but this was met with quite curt replies. I was told no one could read Mr Gan's handwriting so no one could tell me any information, which at the time was quite frustrating as I'd been dealing with the pain for so long and had viewed the laparoscopy as the light at the end of the tunnel. It was disheartening to leave the hospital without any real clarification of the issue. Now having had my final follow-up with Mr Gan, I can say with confidence that all of my questions have been answered, and I feel validated and supported as a patient. However, I can't help but feel that had the communication from the hospital team been a little better throughout the process, it wouldn't have been so frustrating to wake up after the surgery and find that no one could tell me how it had gone.

Finding the right support for a neurodivergent child is overwhelming, emotional and often urgent. We originally sought help due to significant toileting difficulties, and through Doctify found Dr Bajaj. After previously seeing another paediatrician who looked at issues in isolation, Dr Bajaj was the first professional who truly put the whole picture together. Over the past four to five years, she has supported our child through ADHD diagnosis, careful medication titration, holistic reassessment and later an autism diagnosis following specialist ADOS assessment with another professional. Her approach is direct and thorough, always focused on what is best for the child. Starting medication was frightening due to stigma and fear around side effects, but Dr Bajaj guided us carefully with proper monitoring, regular reviews and shared-care communication with our GP once stabilised. After trialling different medications, our child is now on Elvanse, which has made a really positive difference to focus, calmness and daily functioning. Private care has not been easy. It involved long travel, significant cost, juggling family pressures and at times challenging admin processes. However, the hospitals Dr Bajaj works with, particularly The Portland Hospital, have been consistently kind and professional, and Dr Bajaj has even extended clinics to fit our child in when needed, which we are very grateful for. While her style is firm and very to the point, I have never doubted that she genuinely prioritises children’s wellbeing and long-term outcomes. Our child is calmer, more able to engage in learning and daily life, and far less overwhelmed than before. The journey has been hard, but the impact on our child’s quality of life has been significant. I would recommend Dr Bajaj to parents looking for thorough, responsible and genuinely child-centred ADHD and autism support, with the honest understanding that private care comes with practical and financial challenges.

10/10 experience. We had our 10 year old son assessed for ADHD. From the moment i called to enquire about the process and what are the steps involved to the actually assessment, everyone has been amazing. Steven in the front office walked me through the entire process, what to expect, costings etc. he was polite, kind and very professional. Dr Hollie Hearfield who did the assessment was lovely. She was so good with our son, she explained everything to us as to what the next steps are. I cannot recommend you enough to others who might be thinking of going private. My whole experience from initial consultation with Mr Hughes to today's final check up has been amazing. Mr Hughes explained the whole procedure in a very reassuring manner, patiently answering all my questions. The stay at the Cleveland Clinic was extremely comfortable, and very calming, my nursing staff were very kind and so attentive at all times. My operation was a success, and the call at home on my return from Mr Hughes was very much appreciated. Both my follow up consultations have been very successful and I am pleased to be recovering well. I am very glad that Mr Hughes is my consultant and his calm reassuring manner has made the whole experience better than I had thought it would be.

I always find the receptionists at The Holly difficult to deal with. The booking in experience is poor as one often has to wait for ages whilst the receptionists are on the phone or chatting or apparently doing something on their computers. It is a pity as the doctors and nurses and other staff including the porters at The Holly are extremely good. The receptionists in both the outpatients area and the scan receptionists need better training and better management. I would say however that the GP area receptionists and the front desk receptionists are very nice and very helpful so I have no issues with them.

I felt safe and confident throughout this important procedure. The treatment was completed to a very high standard, and I am now recovering well. The hospital was clean, well run, and efficient. All staff were excellent — professional, kind, and reassuring at every stage. Communication was clear from admission to discharge. I felt genuinely well cared for. I really like the Cromwell Hospital in Kensington London. It's clean modern well organised and I like the consultants. The nursing care is absolutely fabulous and the nurses overall are highly trained and experienced. The pharmacy is efficient and staff are super helpful and the registration staff are terribly nice and helpful. 10/10.
