I actually did not get to use the facilities in the private wing of Charing Cross Hospital, as I was seen in neurophysiology on level three of the NHS departments. The only time I had to go up to the 15th floor was to get two forms, stamped and provide my pre-authorisation number that meant getting in a crowded lift and riding up to the 15th floor, which took a very long time as the lift stopped on nearly every floor. Then I had to go back down to level three for tests. It was actually quite stressful for someone with my health conditions to do this, and to be expected to do this administration as the patient!. The waiting area in the NHS department was not relaxing, it was very hot, no natural light was had limited/poor ventilation and the receptionist was quite rude. The medical staff were more polite. When I pay for private healthcare, I prefer to stay in the private department than in the crowded NHS areas. I gather on this occasion the tests were not available in the private wing, but perhaps another hospital where the consultant worked would’ve been able to accommodate. I was not informed that the tests would be in the NHS department.

Very impressed by Mr Howard from the first referral and pre-op information. He answered my questions personally in a friendly and totally professional manner. The open AAA surgery went well. Excellent care on the vascular ward with honest advice. Mr Howard visited the ward several times and reassured my concerns. He answered my post-op questions personally, and I just had a follow-up clinic with him, which again reassured me. I can contact him directly if needed. I've been very impressed with the the whole process from the screening program at 65, through rapid referral when it was triggered. He gave me a planned operation date at the first referral which held. The elective journey has been smooth and impressive throughout.

I had an online ADHD assessment with Bernhard Kelley-Patterson. Bernhard was very friendly and professional, I felt at ease throughout the appointment and would happily talk with him again. So far my experience with Skylight has been very positive, the wait times between communication emails are generally 3-5 days and it took approximately 8 weeks to get my first appointment after the registering my interest. Considering the NHS waiting list for an ADHD assessment is 4 years, I’d say that pretty damn good. I would highly recommend opting for Skylight through the ‘Right to Choose’ pathway via the NHS. The initial assessment was professional, very reassuring, and the diagnosis was accurate. I was happy to book the extremely effective follow-up sessions, and I’m now completely pain-free. The rehabilitation exercise programme was tailored to my needs, and I found the phone app provided to guide me through those exercises at home very helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending this practice.

Staff at the practice seem to be unable to distinguish between NHS patients a d those who Are private and paying. Twice i was sent to the wrong waiting area with NHS patients. Only to be later sent to the private waiting area. As a paying patient i expect a certain level of compitance and care. So come on Barlborough, a little bit of interest in your role might help
