About Mr Simon Radley
Mr. Simon Radley is a Consultant General Surgeon specialising in colorectal and gastrointestinal surgery with over three decades of experience. He graduated with a MBChB from the University of Birmingham in 1985 and completed his initial medical training in Birmingham, later becoming a lecturer in anatomy at the same university.
Mr. Radley completed his registrar training in general and colorectal surgery in the West Midlands before specialising at St Mark’s Hospital, London. He was awarded prestigious fellowships from the International College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of England to study rectal cancer treatments in the USA.
In 2002, he was appointed as an NHS Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, playing a leading role in introducing laparoscopic colorectal surgery and enhanced recovery protocols at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and The Priory Hospital. Currently, he is Medical Director at HCA The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham.
Mr. Radley was instrumental in founding the Birmingham Bowel Clinic, the first private centre of excellence in the West Midlands for managing bowel conditions. His clinical expertise includes robotic colorectal and hernia surgery, pelvic floor repair, bowel cancer surgery, inflammatory bowel disease management, advanced laparoscopic techniques, and complex cancer surgeries.

Mr. Simon Radley holds a Bachelor or Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Birmingham (1985) and earned a Medical Degree from the same university in 1995 for his research on colorectal cancer.
He completed his surgical training in general and colorectal surgery, including specialist training at St Mark’s Hospital, London. He was awarded fellowships by the International College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mr. Radley became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 1990.

Mr Radley was excellent, he took my concerns seriously, was very understanding, and explained everything thoroughly. I never felt rushed, and overall the surgery went well.

Mr Radley performed my robot rectopexy on 20 March and followed up on 5 May. He was very professional the whole time whilst also being caring, answering all my questions and being sympathetic to the distressing issues I had been experiencing for a long time. Mr Radley came to see me after my op and also on the following two days which were a Saturday and Sunday to check how I was. This was hugely appreciated. My op was successful and I now enjoy a quality of life I had forgotten. I cannot recommend Mr Radley highly enough.

I was very happy overall with my treatment at the hospital and on leaving felt not too bad. However the next day I felt not as I expected and after calling the day case ward felt that my extreme discomfort was underplayed
