Dr Michael Mendall is a highly experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician, recognised internationally both for his clinical expertise in digestive and liver disorders and for his influential research on the links between the gut, infection, inflammation and broader health. He is known for combining meticulous clinical assessment with a calm, clear and approachable manner, helping patients feel informed and involved at every step.

Clinically, Dr Mendall manages the full range of gastrointestinal conditions, including abdominal pain, acid reflux and heartburn, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD – Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), coeliac disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, unexplained weight loss, diarrhoea and constipation, bloating, and problems related to diet, food intolerance and the gut microbiome.
