I attended the Neurology Clinic at Cleveland Clinic, Portland Place London for a second medical opinion (covered by my insurance) and I had ALL medical reports with me. The booking process was straightforward, and the reception team were excellent—very responsive and professional, with great customer service. I also appreciated that the clinic arranged for my MRI images to be transferred ahead of my appointment, so the consultant would have access to my medical history. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with how the consultation itself went. I came with up-to-date MRI scans (completed recently through an NHS neuroscience unit), along with relevant medical reports and test results. However, the doctor did NOT properly review my MRI images, stating they were “bad quality,” and instead suggested I pay privately for repeat MRI scans at Cleveland Clinic London 3Tesla MRI scanner (my all mri's were done on 3Tesla scanners). He also recommended another lumbar puncture, again privately, despite the fact that I have already had one. Overall, I left with the strong impression that the focus was on arranging further paid tests rather than reviewing the information already available and providing a clear second opinion. In the end, I did not receive any meaningful second medical opinion, no conclusions were offered, and I felt I had not been listened to. To be fair, Dr Wallace Brownlee was polite, kind, and his manner was professional. The neurological examination was fine. However, I still left without any explanation or diagnostic opinion, despite no recent change in my clinical picture that would obviously justify repeating tests before offering an assessment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr Wallace Brownlee for someone seeking a genuine second opinion.

Mr Christopher Hemmerdinger

I had worried previously about the need for this procedure, not knowing the risks and outcomes. However, the online information provided ahead of the procedure was detailed and comprehensive, so I knew exactly what to expect. I have known Mr Hemmerdinger for many years, and had confidence in his ability, so I was not at all worried on the day. He gave me so much time to reconsider and mentally prepare, that I worried about holding up his other patients! I really appreciated this. The procedure was not in the least daunting. It seemed to me like paintballing, with flashes of green light. There was no discomfort, apart from a headache from the pilocarpine drops administered in advance, and blurred vision for a while. I waited after the procedure for half an hour to allow time for recovery, after which the eye pressure had reduced. I was particularly reassured by access to the online advice again later, to double check what I should know, and to note and follow up any queries. My only query was promptly answered by email. In all, this was a very positive experience. I wait to learn whether the procedure was effective, but have no qualms now about repeating it in the future, if necessary.

I was made to wait 6 months for my cataract operations because I had a cardioversion. This is a short sedation rather than a general anaesthetic. I have been given no clinical explanations for this. I am in perfect health despite my age. I understand that a normal waiting time at other hospitals is 6 weeks with good recovery after a major operation. I suspect there are no clinical reasons, just a bureaucratic hesitation to take the slightest risk. I wonder how many patients discover that “Well soon” should be retitled “Well sometime”. Your bureaucratic incompetence is illustrated by your list of specialists which does not include the name of my surgeon, your lead ophthalmologist Dr Marzena Raszewska. It is her recorded ability that persuaded me to wait the 6 months rather than seek an alternative.

I cannot recommend Miss Despina Mavridou highly enough. From start to finish, my experience was exceptional. She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and professional, and made me feel completely at ease throughout the entire process. Miss Mavridou took the time to really listen, explained everything clearly, and answered all my questions with patience and care. She was super efficient while never feeling rushed, and I genuinely felt that she went above and beyond to help me. I couldn’t have asked for better support or treatment. Her expertise, attention to detail, and compassionate approach truly set her apart. I am extremely grateful for her care and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for an outstanding doctor. Dr Mavridou is an absolute credit to her profession.

I had my Pre-assessment on 14/91/26 at 09.30. I arrived early because of the inadequate parking at the hospital but was pleasantly surprised to be able to park straight away so, I arrived at 09.00 for my appt. I registered with reception then the nurse, Sharon, called me. Sharon talked me through my Pre-assessment and explained in detail what would happen when I'm admitted for my op. She gave me an ECG, took MRSA swabs and I had my bloods taken. Sharon explained several forms to me and provided Octensian wash and nasal gel for me to use prior to admission and after. The whole experience was positive. Sharon was very professional with an easy, friendly manner and kindly answered my questions that she had not already covered.

I was taken into a room that was obviously not cleaned after the last patient as their clothes were still there. My postop instructions were to stay warm. I was absolutely freezing after surgery because the nurses turned the heat down to suit another patient. I was on the end bed and no one came to check on me for ages so I couldn’t get another blanket. I told the nurses at least three times that I don’t eat dairy. I then had cow’s milk and dairy butter placed in front of me which is offensive. The nurses paid a lot of attention to the person next to me, but rarely checked on me. I felt overlooked. By this point, I just wanted to go home but again they prioritised other patients so I was late to leave.

I have found both Mr Andrews, and his personal assistant Vikki, excellent. Mr Andrews has shown me a very caring attitude and always has time to listen and responds in a very respectful and professional manner. He goes out of his way to explain and support his medical opinion, and shows courtesy and compassion which I have found so helpful and quite honestly hugely appreciated in the medical profession. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him, and I know that should I need any further assistance I will be in contact without a doubt. Vikki is incredibly helpful and makes contact very smooth and friendly, again a breath of fresh air in the this profession. Thank you Mr Andrews.

This is not just about my recent visit it is about 3 years of great experience. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Jenkins, my fantastic colorectal surgeon. He is not only an outstanding surgeon but, even more importantly, a wonderful human being. I truly cannot imagine myself in better hands. Over the past three years, he has supported me through a major and complex operation with compassion, and exceptional skill. I will always be thankful for everything he has done for me. Mr Rishi Dhir

Rishi did a great surgery on my badly shattered clavicle which was broken in multiple places. It was pinned together nicely without needing to take bone graph from elsewhere on my body. He also did some ligament reconstruction and soft tissue repair. The scar was very neat and healed well and I'm very pleased with the result. I don't notice the plate and I'm expecting a full recovery. The whole process was also quick and efficient. Surgery was 2 days after initial consultation. He explained the process clearly and candidly which was reassuring. If I were to break the other clavicle I know who my preferred surgeon would be.

I have used Avenues for a cycle of IVF/ICSi, a hysteroscopy and then FET. I was under the care of De Ali Al Chami and became pregnant with the first transfer, having 3 failed attempts elsewhere. Dr Al Chami changed my protocol (both stimulation and transfer protocol). This places is miles apart because it guarantees continuity of care and patients are treated as people. dr Ali is a wonderful person and he cares about his patients. The midwives (Marina Christina Katie Fiona Emily Starvula) are all amazing and know each patient by name and treated me with warmth, dignity, compassion and professionalism.

The treatment I received at the Matrix Eye Clinic was excellent from both Mr Guy Smith and his first class team. The results from the cataract operation in both eyes is sensational. My eyesight is significantly improved, the length, the accuracy and the intensity of the colour are all enhanced. I am absolutely delighted. Before I had the operation I was considering exchanging our television for a new model because I was having difficulty in reading small print and the scene was blurred. Now I can enjoy watching. Amazing! I have no hesitation in recommending Matrix Eye Clinic.

He supported the appropriate treatment plan, and after four cycles my uncle is doing remarkably well. His clear explanations and compassionate attitude gave our family reassurance and confidence at a very difficult time.

Dr omar ali is the most professional and well spoken doctor. He makes you feel comfortable and makes all the necessary decisions that are in my interest. He has always taken out time to follow up with evey heart procedure I have had and still looking after me as I still have a few issues. I wish all the doctors were like him.
