I was referred to Newmedica Newcastle for eye cataract surgery by my optician. I had my first eye surgery done in September, and my second eye done in December. I received excellent service from all the Newmedica colleagues whenever I visited; for my pre-surgery consultation, the surgeries themselves, and the post-surgery visits. Those working on the reception were friendly and made me feel welcome. The waiting area was clean and tidy, with hot drinks available. The colleagues who did the testing, pre-surgery administration, and post-surgery follow up checks were all very knowledgeable. They took me through the surgery preparations, explaining the process as they went, putting me at ease and answering any questions. After surgery they made sure I was aware of what I needed to do over the following three weeks to ensure my eyes healed completely. The surgical team were very proficient, and I felt I was in safe hands. The procedure was explained at every step, putting me at ease. The consultant for my first procedure was Nicholas Wride. The procedure itself took just under 3 minutes, which I had not expected, as internet searches indicated it would take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. I was so impressed and, as I was told I could have the same consultant for the cataract removal procedure on my second eye, I didn’t hesitate to ask for Nicholas Wride again. My second procedure was equally as expertly performed, and this time took 3 minutes 20 seconds. There was no pain during the procedures and only very slight discomfort straight afterwards. Other than the pain relief eye drops that were put in for the surgical procedure, I didn’t need to take any painkillers at all. The hardest part for me was remembering to use the post-surgery eye drops the clinic provided, as my eyes felt that good. Three weeks after surgery, I attended the clinic for post-surgery follow up checks. I was signed off from the clinic after the follow up check on my second eye. My vision is now excellent, and I only need to use reading glasses for small print. Before the surgery I wore varifocal lens glasses at all times. I wasn’t expecting the improvements in my sight to be quite so good, so I’m pleased I took up the opportunity to have my cataracts removed and really pleased that it was Newmedica Newcastle who did the procedures and looked after me and my sight so well. Mr.Webb operated on my left hip in 2018 which was very successful so when I knew that my right hip was troubling me I made an appointment to see him in October 2024 because I valued his expertise & wanted him to perform the operation. As soon as I arrived Mr.Webb referred to my notes & had checked my physio's report & between us we decided that surgery was necessary which was planned for early 2025. Mr.Webb in my opinion is an outstanding consultant. He is clear & concise in what he plans to do. He listens to any concerns & involves me in any decision making. He is personable & friendly with an appropriate touch of humour which certainly helped me overcome many of my fears. Post op he visited me every day & reassured me that all was well & sent post op notes to my physio advising her on the appropriate level of exercise which has resulted in my full recovery for which I am very grateful. One year on I feel I am now living a full life due to his excellent surgery & the ability to do different kinds of exercise which helps psychologically & in all sorts of other ways. For anyone contemplating hip surgery I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Webb.

My first visit was a very positive experience. The clinic was well presented, and I felt comfortable sitting in the waiting area prior to being called in. All staff members were polite, kind, and respectful during every interaction. When I entered the consultation room, I initially felt nervous; however, this quickly melted away as I was put at ease through warm and engaging conversation. I felt treated as a human being, not just a patient. The doctor ensured I was comfortable throughout the consultation and explained everything clearly and thoroughly. Hospital was dirty. Room was dirty. Was provided with a pillow that was fully stained yellow on one side with no pillow cover. One of the nurses saw it when he turned it over but I had already been lying on it for hours. Went to the surgery without any pillow only to wake up to another stained pillow without any cover. Found a toenail on the bed. Very unhygienic and was not comfortable. Staff were ok. Food received was not what I ordered, so left without eating anything. Will only be coming back for my second operation because it is the surgeons only practice that is close to where I live, otherwise would not be returning. Hygiene is most important in these environments and it was not to par at all. Worse than NHS.

Mr Antonios looked at me holistically rather than my age when considering treatment options. As a 78 yr old man I am still very active and wish to continue an active lifestyle. I had a rotator cuff repair and Mr Antionios showed a video of surgery, explained the MRI images and discussed the aftercare and physiotherapy required. At all times I felt reassured and in safe hands. At my recent follow up appt I was able to show him my range of movement so much so I was able to give him a hug and am truly grateful for his expertise, compassion and kindness. He has given me a new lease of life.

I had an ovarian cyst and ovary removed via keyhole surgery by Dr Mackintosh and can highly recommend her. She listened, we agreed the treatment plan together and I felt involved in all decisions throughout. She explained everything very well. The operation went well and she did an excellent job ensuring minimal trapped air afterwards and the scars have healed really nicely. Would not hesitate to visit her again - but obviously hope I don’t have to!

I recently visited Dr Marwan with a rotator cuff tear and to have a steroid infection for the pain . My first time meeting Dr Marwan, he made me feel instantly at ease, he listened to all my problems and answered in depth every question I put to him. He takes his time and you never feel rushed.
