Nobody looks forward to a heart operation and I was certainly nervous as I arrived 30 minutes late due to a traffic jam at the QE main car park. The receptionist was cool and just told me to wait. When the porter arrived to take me to my room, the personnel interface changed to friendliness and quiet authority for the duration of my stay. As the process unfolded every new person was friendly and smiling. I met Prof Doshi for a final briefing at which he told me that due to my low pulse rate, the chances of needing a pacemaker during the procedure were 1 in 4. I remember very little of the procedure in the operating theatre though astonished by the visible technology. When I became more conscious of events, I was on a bed in the ICU unit. I can then only describe my feelings as totally subservient to the warm people attending me and feeling extremely relaxed. The degree of attention was extremely confidence building. Prof. Leyva visited me to explain that a pacemaker had been fitted during the operation though I hadn't previously researched the implications of that. In the next 24 hours, I must have had twenty different people attend me and all behaving in the same friendly professional way and rebuilding my own confidence. The physio took me from my bed for a walking and stairs test and pronounced me fit to go home. When I was asked to order some lunch prior to discharge I was invited to have my wife also join me for lunch which was a nice way to end my stay. I was surprised at my own feeling of normality walking to the car park only 30 hours after arriving and having undergone a serious operation which only a few years ago would have required an extensive stay in hospital. On my return home and back in my study I was able to relax and share with my wife the discharge notes and recovery regime. I write this five days after the operation and now into 3 ten minute walks a day which I am finding easy to do without any breathlessness. As I work towards full recovery, I will probably look back forgetting the anxiety of the time and think only with gratitude of those remarkable people and the amazing work they do. Paul T

Glenda has really helped me with talking about my depression in a big way as i thought it was just normal to feel sucidal all the time and thinking real bad things in my mind. I have always known there was something not quite right since when i was young but again i thought it was normal but glenda taught me to understand that things i did and have done over the years were not so normal . I felt i was in good hands with glenda and like to thanks her again for helping me at such a bad time in my life , and if anyone else in this world needs that help glenda is there to help. I am now in a better place

From the moment I arrived at reception until I left at the end of my assessment I was treated really well. Reception staff were really friendly and respectful and explained the paperwork to be completed and assured me that the wait would not be too long. I was called within 5 minutes by the first nurse who carried out all the necessary basic checks explaining everything really clearly. She then sent me back to the waiting area until the doctors were ready to do the final assessment again I only waited about 5 minutes before I was called to the examination room. The doctor explained really clearly what all the tests were for and what would happen when the procedure was to be done. A very pleasant experience from start to finish

Mr Yu performed successful glaucoma surgery on my eye 2 months ago. He is highly skilled and knowledgeable, taking the time to clearly explain the procedure to me beforehand, patiently answering all my questions fully. His continuing aftercare has been excellent, and my eye recovered more quickly than I expected, with much less pain than I had anticipated, all down to his high level of expertise. The surgery itself went very smoothly with an epidural and sedation and post-op the care was thorough and well co-ordinated. I'd been forewarned that it was a painful operation but still I needed to experience this first hand. With the kind support of family and friends (they formed a 'I Love my New Knee' Whatsapp group to liaise with one another) my good recovery has taken me by surprise. The hospital was totally 'there' for me with any enquiries. I'm so grateful to have had this opportunity for such prompt 'no fuss' surgical care with a fabulous hospital experience. Thank you.

Booked into the Nuffield Health Grosvenor Hospital , Chester through the NHS for a total hip replacement. Excellent communication as to the procedure, possible side effects etc. 1 night's stay following a pain free operation. I was looked after very well by friendly staff, leaving the Hospital the next day after being checked I was safe to do so. Minimal few days taking pain killers, was brilliant to be pain free from the original joint which was bone on bone, making walking very difficult and painful. I felt very lucky to have had the care and attention of a true professional!

Apart from a reception that were unaware of their visitors - the building and facilities were excellent. Dr. Bradley is a practitioner who has a broad grasp of all areas of HRT treatment. Her extensive knowledge makes you feel very confident about the decisions you make with the doctors assistance. She is never rushed and allows extensive discussion about past and present research. I am extremely impressed by her professionalism. I left after my consultation feeling I had explored all the areas I had questions about but came away with a lot of new information.

My visit was well run with all preparations going smoothly. Apparently it was rather difficult to waken me after the operation and therefore had to remain overnight. I was told that I would be contacted approximately four weeks after, but this didn’t happen. I would have liked to have been explained the reason for the problem with my awakening as it might be useful should I need a general anaesthetic in the future.
