Dr Ehab Abdelkader is an experienced senior Consultant Ophthalmologist currently seeing private patients at Glasgow Private Clinic.
He completed his medical degree at Menoufia University, Egypt, in 1997 and undertook his formal Ophthalmology training in Egypt before moving to the UK for additional training. After moving to the UK he undertook a Medical Retina fellowship in Aberdeen for two years. He teaches and trains in the field of ophthalmology and has delivered many lectures, courses and tutorials. He is a member of the examiner's committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and in charge of part 3 exams (FRCS in Ophthalmology).
Dr Abdelkader is an active researcher in the field of Ophthalmology and has many publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has been an investigator in important randomised controlled trials including one comparing treatments for age-related macular degeneration, a common cause of blindness in the UK. He has written chapters in Ophthalmology textbooks and is a reviewer for numerous high profile Ophthalmology journals. He also speaks at conferences nationally and internationally. He received an award for an outstanding contribution to the scientific program in the SAARC meeting in 2016.

Procedure clearly explained and attitude and demeanour very professional. Made me feel very comfortable.
Having had eye injections in the past I knew what to expect. Dr Abdelkader was efficient, relaxed and had a good sense of humour. He telephoned the following morning to check that all was well with my eye. Staff at the clinic were welcoming and very helpful.
