I had a meniscal tear repair on 20th January. I am really disappointed and dismayed with the conflicting advice I was given regarding physiotherapy. An hour prior to surgery, Brad the physio told me I would be fully weight bearing after the operation. After the surgery a different physio told me I could not weight bear for three weeks and had me up and about practising walking on crutches. She also put a leg brace on my leg which was locked. I wasn't told to unlock it. Therefore for 2 weeks post surgery I wasn't weight bearing and movement in my knee was restricted totally. Today I had my stitches out and my first physio session. Physio told me I should have been 50% weight bearing straight away and that my leg brace should have been unlocked to allow some movement. So three conflicting pieces of advice. I am really unhappy.

My appointment with Dr Millar was on time and not at all rushed. She was very approachable and took the time to run through my results in detail. She gave in depth explanations that were correctly pitched to my level of understanding and she was incredibly patient with my long list of questions. In fact instead of seeming frustrated she appeared empathetic. She was very thorough, explained what would happen next and ensured I was clear on follow up. I honestly couldn’t be more grateful for her persistence with testing and for her help with the understanding the outcome. The diagnosis made all the pieces of the puzzle fall in place and Dr Millar seemed to recognise the importance of that.

I have recently had two procedures within two months, plus outpatient appointments. All members of staff, from receptionist to nursing staff to consultants, were extremely polite, and nothing was too much trouble. I have had two separate consultants, and they were extremely knowledgeable and put me at ease, as I was quite nervous. Their secretaries were very friendly each time I rang through, and nothing was too much trouble. The outpatient department is very modern and spotless. I was very impressed and grateful that so many different eye examinations were performed on me. The in patient department is also spotless, and my meal after my operation was delicious!

I had a rotator cuff tear repair 12 months ago. Operation was a complete success and I now have full movement in my shoulder joint. I followed Mr Hussain’s instructions to the letter and religiously did the exercises as instructed by the physiotherapist post op. It was tough at first but worth the pain and inconvenience having been restricted for several years. Mr Hussain managed my expectations, explained the options clearly and listened to my concerns. The admin side of things was a bit bad. Had the wrong shoulder down for surgery and even though said it would be changed still had the wrong shoulder listed on day of surgery. Unfortunately I am in the process of compiling an official complaint regarding the nurse I had on the day of my surgery, worst nurse I have ever had in my 52 years on Thai earth. Truly awful and needs to be removed from the ward.
