Dr David Crocker is a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist whose practice is centred on providing thoughtful, compassionate and patient-focused care. Fully registered with the General Medical Council and holding membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), he works as an Associate Specialist Psychiatrist. His work is devoted entirely to direct patient care, reflecting his commitment to supporting individuals through a wide range of mental health conditions and concerns.
Dr Crocker's interest in psychiatry was inspired during his university years when a close friend experienced a significant mental health crisis. Witnessing the positive impact of effective psychiatric care sparked a lasting passion for the specialty and shaped the direction of his medical career. He graduated with honours in Medicine from King's College London in 2013, having previously obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of St Andrews. Following foundation training in Cornwall, he pursued specialist psychiatry training in Edinburgh and achieved membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2022.
With extensive experience in adult psychiatry, Dr Crocker has developed particular expertise in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and general adult mental health conditions. Having conducted thousands of assessments, he is known for his thorough, considered approach and his dedication to helping patients achieve meaningful improvements in their wellbeing and quality of life.
Dr Crocker is the founder of Caledonian Psychiatry, Scotland's first independent medical agency to be regulated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland (registration number 03427), the national body responsible for the regulation of independent healthcare in Scotland.
Dr Crocker also brings a personal understanding to his work. Having been diagnosed with ADHD himself as an adult, he has first-hand insight into the challenges of feeling unheard, misunderstood and overlooked. This experience deepens his appreciation of what patients go through when navigating a system that does not always recognise their difficulties, and drives his commitment to ensuring every patient feels genuinely listened to, taken seriously and supported throughout their care.

Prompt, polite, caring and overall made the experience feel easy. Overall excellent - couldn't ask for a better Doc'.
Very easy to talk too, he listens to me so well and follows my weird thoughts, patient and reassuring. He make all of this so much easier for me to handle which is a relief. Couldn’t have asked for a better psychiatrist.
I had a combined autism and ADHD assessment with Dr Crocker, and I was really pleased with both the assessment process and the report I received afterwards. It was important to me to have someone who understands how ADHD and autism can present differently in women, as many of the assessment questionnaires and diagnostic criteria were not designed with women and girls in mind. I received a comprehensive 19-page report a few days after my last session, and my GP was very impressed with the level of detail and the quality of the assessment. I also have severe health anxiety and was very concerned about starting medication. Dr Crocker was incredibly understanding and reassuring, taking my anxiety into account when creating my treatment plan. I felt listened to throughout the process, and my concerns were treated with empathy and respect.
I found Dr Crocker to be caring, perceptive and insightful. He was very professional, whilst personable, enthusiastic and engaging. The reports provided were detailed, thorough and progressive.
Dr Crocker made me feel at ease and he explained the process and plan of treatment thoroughly . Very compassionate and understanding.
Dr Crocker is a patient and understanding doctor who understands my needs as a patient. He was easy to chat to this visit and flexible with my needs as always
Dr Crocker has been extremely helpful from initial assessment all the way through to long term follow-up appointments. I always feel listened too, validated and have a deeper understanding of my condition now. He is kind and patient, and has a genuine interest in improving his patients’ lives. My life has infinitely improved since seeing Dr Crocker and I am forever grateful for his expertise.
Dr Crocker is a meritorious psychiatrist, He was very empathetic, patient, and thorough with my care when I saw him for a combined ASD and ADHD assessment. All questions answered clearly and processes post diagnosis explained well. He really listens to you and considers all aspects. I was especially impressed with the rather seamless process with his work towards transitioning my prescribing to shared care with my GP after 5 months on stable dose of medication, which I was super thankful for. Would recommend Dr Crocker to anyone looking for private neurodevelopmental assessment especially as a late diagnosed woman and have done so to friends who’ve had positive experiences too !

Thanks for such a lovely review! :) really appreciate it! I am so pleased it was a positive experience. Best! Dave
Dr Crocker has a lovely balance of professionalism and kindness. He explains things in a way that is easy to understand, listens without judgement and genuinely makes you feel like you’re working together to find the right treatment.

Thank you so much, balancing professionalism, kindness and humanity is the name of the game, and I'm glad to hear you've felt heard and that we're a team :) Really appreciate your comments!
I’m in my 60s and was initially hesitant about pursuing an ADHD assessment, but Dr. Crocker immediately put me at ease with his calm and supportive approach. Throughout the diagnostic process and subsequent treatment, he has been professional, understanding, and always willing to take the time to find the best path forward. The diagnosis and treatment have had a hugely positive impact on my daily life, helping me overcome challenges I had struggled with for many years. I would highly recommend Dr. Crocker to anyone considering an ADHD assessment or treatment, whatever their age.

What a lovely review and feedback, I'm so pleased to help:) Really glad treatment is making a difference, and I appreciate you recommending me:)!
David is an exceptional psychiatrist and easily the most personable doctor I know. His neurodevelopmental assessments are thorough and thoughtful, and he delivers them with genuine warmth. Patients I have referred to him consistently tell me they felt heard and understood. He pairs meticulous clinical rigour in ADHD and autism assessment with a kind, unhurried manner that puts people at ease. I trust him completely with my own patients and recommend him without hesitation.

PsychiatristI have worked alongside David with mutual patients. I have found David to be very patient-centred and holistic in his approach to psychiatry. So often psychiatry assessment can be a labelling and medication-prescribing exercise. I find David goes further than this, always focusing on the "so what" and thinking outside the box for other options that may help his clients.
