Mr Matthew Hearth

Mr Matthew Hearth is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, as well as the management of sports-related injuries. He practices within the NHS as part of the Mid and South Essex Group of Hospitals and also sees patients privately through Spire Healthcare and Nuffield Health.

With a strong focus on restoring mobility and improving quality of life, Mr Hearth performs a wide range of procedures, including primary joint replacements and complex revision surgeries. He is also highly skilled in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, treating conditions such as hip impingement, meniscal tears, and ligament injuries of the knee.

Mr Hearth graduated from the University of London in 1993 with an MB BS degree. He went on to achieve Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Ed), followed by a specialist Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedics (FRCS Tr & Orth) in 2005.

Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in research, with a particular interest in rapid recovery techniques following joint replacement surgery, aiming to enhance patient outcomes and reduce rehabilitation time.

Outside of medicine, Mr Hearth enjoys playing and watching golf and cricket, and keeps up to date with current affairs.
