Mr Matthew Hearth

Mr. Matthew Hearth is a Consultant specialising in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery. His main interests include hip replacement surgery, sports injuries, knee arthroscopy and knee replacement surgery.

Mr. Hearth qualified in 1993 from the University of London and has been practicing ever since. His NHS practice is with Mid and South Essex Group of Hospitals, being based mostly at Basildon currently. Privately, he works at the Essex Nuffield in Brentwood, The Holly Private Hospital in Buckhurst Hill and Highgate Hospital in North London. He has plans to work more in central London also.

He is highly trained in performing joint reconstruction surgery for lower limb disorders (hip and knee). This involves joint replacement and revision of joint replacements. He can also perform arthroscopic surgery, which includes treatment of impingement syndrome of the hip and meniscal tears and ligament injuries of the knee.

He also enjoys undertaking research, and his research interests include rapid recovery following joint replacement. This involves reducing post-operative pain to increase the rehabilitation process for patients. This has proven very successful, he is hoping to make some joint replacement a day surgical procedure.
