After I had my procedure and was in the room, I needed to use the toilet, but I was hooked up to a catheter. Therefore, I could not go unaided. I needed to use the toilet for a poo and was desperate to go. I used the call button and told the nurse, who said they would come back. I was left for 4 hours in agony. I was really anxious as I had been told I was not to strain, and I was doing all I could to not mess myself. This left me really upset and agitated. I did not feel cared for at that time. The breakfast was very poor and not at all palatable. The fact that you could not get in the lift without someone tapping you in is ridiculous, as you then have to search for someone to assist. Also, when I subsequently came back for my catheter removal. There were no disabled parking spaces at the front, so I had to come in the back. I was told I needed to go to the ward. So I made my way to the lift and was very dizzy and weak. My wife left me at the lift to go to the front to sign me in, and the receptionist could not have been more unhelpful and stroppy. My wife then took me up in the lift, only to be told that they would not see me until she had gone back down to the reception. The other receptionist then signed me in and was pleasant, unlike the other receptionist. Sadly, small things let you down. But when you are a patient, you feel very vulnerable, and the lack of professionalism from a member of the team makes a big impact.

Since having a cystectomy back in 2023 and being discharged from another hospital, my periods were terribly painful lasting 16+ days causing me a lot pain and some days I felt I was unable to cope, I was often cancelling on plans and having to bin clothing due to the heaviness of my periods. I often felt down due to the pain and felt stuck after being told by another hospital my pain was down to “exam stress” Miss Ghosh believed my pain and investigated with multiple MRI tests, blood tests and ultrasounds I then got diagnosed with Adenomyosis. Miss Ghosh also removed me of the contraceptive patch and changed me over to the mirena coil which has changed my periods. They are now much lighter and do not last any longer than one week and are much more manageable. Miss Ghosh explained thoroughly the benefits of the coil and how if anything changes I can contact her. Thank you Miss Ghosh, you have made a massive impact to me and I am very appreciative. I would highly recommend Miss Ghosh!

Mr Okechukwu Okonkwo

Excellent last appointment with Mr Okonkwo and the wonderful nurse who assisted him. The appointment covered all the points I needed to raise and the camera investigation gave me reassurance that I should hopefully be polyp free for a few years. The success of having the polyps removed has changed my life. Not being able to smell and taste had a huge impact on my mental health and quality of life. Had I not had the surgery my life would forever have been miserable. Mr Okonkwo,his amazing secretary and all the surgery and ENT team have given me back 2 vital senses and I’m so happy. I know the polyps will return but I sincerely hope my treatment will be managed again by the brilliant Mr Okonkwo. I cannot thank him and his team enough for everything that they’ve done for me.

Dr Duncan is a superb obstetrician. We were fortunate to be introduced to him during an open evening at the Portland Hospital, and within minutes of talking to him, I thought that he was the right fit for me during my first pregnancy. My husband and I thoroughly looked forward to each appointment with Dr Duncan during the 9 months of pregnancy; we always felt informed, cared for and safe in his hands. His qualifications and experience speak for themselves, but in addition to that he is a warm and interesting person and we always enjoyed his company, as we did that of Colette, his phenomenal secretary. We are supremely grateful for the experience with Dr Duncan and could not imagine a better one with anyone else.

We first went 4 years ago with our first son and had 4 scans. We are pregnant again and just had our final scan which would be our 3rd/4th this pregnancy and every time we go the ladies are just a pleasure. So kind, so thorough and just lovely lovely people. We had Lisa today asked she is so nice, patient and a lovely person. There is usually a young girl at reception who is lovely but today there was a different lady who possibly was having a bad day as she was not welcoming not friendly. Possibly didn’t want to be at work and she had the impression she couldn’t be bothered. But it wouldn’t stop me from going as everyone else is always great

I felt so at ease with Mr Norton. He listened to the concerns I had around my problem. Mr Norton thoroughly examined the Cyst and explained the procedure he felt would benefit me most. Very professional. On the day of the surgery I was treated exceptionally well by Mr Norton and his team. During the surgery Mr Norton operated in such a way that the scarring was kept to a minimum. All professionals on all levels, be it administration, psychiatrists, health care professionals etc, have all been extremely empathetic, kind, respectful and efficient. I felt safe and able to trust all members of staff during all interactions I've had. Sometimes organisation wasn't always perfect such as informant questionnaires seemingly getting lost and causing delays and my assessment being double booked requiring a last minute rescheduling, but any problems were dealt with efficiently.

Dr Shergil is a highly skilled Dermatology Consultant/Surgeon who was recommended to me by a friend. I found him to be gentle, kind and very sensitive to my profound hearing disability. His diagnosis of a basal cell carcinoma on the rim of my right ear was clear and straightforward. I opted for him to remove the lesion at McIndoe Centre and the procedure was carried out by him without causing me any pain. He has since advised that the histology showed that the operation was successful.

Luckily I’ve had a great experience with Ezra / Zenvité. Being able to schedule an appointment online at a time / day suitable for my busy schedule is perfect. I’m also able to get any medication required delivered to my door. Having regular check ins gives me peace of mind that my health is in order.

Communication about where the treatment was to take place could have been a bit clearer - appointment was arranged via Shawfair Park reception but treatment was actually at Murrayfield which wasn't clear to me. Murrayfield reception also called and seemed surprised too that it has been done by Shawfair but didn't clarify where it was happening. All worked out in the end though.

The care, professionalism and expertise of Mr Jowett has been evident throughout my pre-, and post-operative care, and the operation itself which involved six toes. Minor complications have been dealt with in a calm and reassuring way. Post-operatively, Mr Jowett rearranged some appointments to review the wounds on the day after my operation, indicating his ongoing care.

Mr Masood Shafafy

Mr Shafafy explained the options carefully and in detail. The procedure he performed did what he said it would although, sadly, that only reduced my symptoms rather than removing them altogether. He explained clearly that there were few other, realistic, options for treatment unless my condition worsens quite considerably. Overall, a very professional encounter.

The hospital was very clean, very friendly and very welcoming. I was shown to my room, given a menu for dinner that night as I was staying over. The staff were all very polite and attentive, even going above and beyond to get me a chocolate milkshake when the kitchen had shut. Very nice people and a very good stay after my first time going under anaesthetic
