Ms Neeru Vallabh

Ms. Neeru Vallabh is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in the management of glaucoma, including advanced surgical and laser treatments, as well as cataract surgery. She practices at St. Paul’s Eye Unit, Royal Liverpool Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, I Sight Southport and Circle Cheshire Eye Clinic Northwich.

A graduate of the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne Medical School, Ms. Vallabh has established herself as a leader in her field. During the 2018 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) meeting, she was recognised as an ARVO Member in Training Science Communication Fellow and received the Outstanding Poster Award. She is deeply committed to patient education, having hosted several glaucoma awareness and education events.

Ms. Vallabh completed her ophthalmology training in the Mersey region in 2020 and earned a PhD from the Department of Eye and Vision Science at the University of Liverpool in 2021. Her thesis, titled "Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Glaucoma," was funded by the International Glaucoma Association, Fight for Sight, and the St. Paul’s Foundation. Following this, she undertook an 18-month clinical and surgical glaucoma fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, further enhancing her expertise.

In 2021, Ms. Vallabh commenced her role as Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Eye and Vision Science at the University of Liverpool. She serves as a committee member for the UK Eye Genetics Group, a section editor for the Eye Journal, and a Next Generation Partner in the European Glaucoma Society.

Her research focuses on mitochondrial dysfunction, metabolomics, and anterior segment imaging in glaucoma. She collaborates with leading research groups to explore glaucoma-related disc assessment, surgical outcomes, and genetics. Ms. Vallabh’s contributions to ophthalmology reflect her dedication to advancing clinical care and research, ensuring innovative and effective treatments for her patients.
