Dr. James Noake is not only a phenomenal doctor but also a truly exceptional person. His clinical expertise, commitment, and compassion enabled me to achieve something that had once felt impossible, and I will be forever grateful for his care. I had been training for seven months to take on a double marathon in memory of my brother, who tragically took his own life just over a year ago. The run meant everything to me — not just as a personal challenge, but as a way to honour him and raise money for The Hunchman Trust, a charity that supports young people navigating grief, especially after suicide. By the time race day was in sight, I had already raised £28,000, and the weight of expectation — from myself and from those supporting me — felt enormous. Seventeen days before the event, disaster struck. I was injured, and despite visits to a physio, I was in terrible shape. With less than two weeks to go, I was convinced my dream was over. It was then that my physio referred me to Dr. James Noake, who, upon hearing my story, went to great lengths to fit me into his schedule. My case was complicated. I had an inflamed Kager’s fat pad and a trapped sural nerve, problems made even harder to diagnose because of a previous ankle reconstruction back in 2019. Where others had struggled, Dr. Noake immediately identified the issue. The very next morning, he came in early to give me the treatment and injections I desperately needed. What happened next felt nothing short of remarkable. Days earlier I had been ready to give up, certain I’d have to withdraw from the race. Instead, with Dr. Noake’s expertise and guidance, I was not only able to start but to finish the double marathon. Throughout the event, he made himself available, checking in, offering advice, and guiding me on what I could and couldn’t do to protect myself. Thanks to him, I was able to cross that finish line and, more importantly, honour my brother’s memory in the way I had hoped.

I had laparoscopy surgery in July 2025 to remove endometriosis and to investigate other pain I had been experiencing. He was kind, compassionate, and exceptionally skilled in his role. For context, since my operation in July, my chronic back pain has reduced to almost zero… a huge change for me. Although surgery can be a daunting experience as a young woman, I felt reassured and at ease with Mr Gan. He took time to explain everything clearly and always made sure my concerns were heard. Since the operation, I haven’t simply been discharged… instead, I’ve had regular check-ins to ensure my recovery is on track and that the next steps are clear.

I was a little nervous about visiting the clinic as I had never been to a private practice before, but my experience was excellent from start to finish. In theatre, I had to say I couldn’t open my eyes fully as the plastic covering placed over my eyes was rucked and digging into my previously operated rt. eye.. This was then corrected. A large amount of iodine was instilled to my left eye ( later discovered it was all in my hair ), and I said it felt so painful that I was sure my eye was not anaesthetised. I was then told I would have lots more anaesthetic drops which I believe happened. But I felt the eye speculum being put in and the sensation, not pain, of a tiny curved cut to the nose side of my eyes and then the sensation moved to the opposite side of my eye , where I had a sort of digging sensation, no pain, for a couple of seconds. No further discomforts or sensations felt, just extreme relief to be over the ordeal. However good communication throughout and attention paid to what I was experiencing. My eye was completely comfortable afterwards and my recovery was first class for which I am most grateful.

My follow-up appointment showed that the bilateral cataract operations on 3rd Sept had a better than expected result. My distance vision has improved so much that my driving glassss actually reduced the clarity. My near signt is improving by the day, proved by being able to read the time print here! I just may not need glassss. As for the colours: wow! They are now so viberant. The daglow hue of gas will wow me for a very long time. My wife is in hospital for an operation today and due to prior anxieties over NHS treatment, we asked the hospital for me to stay with my wife in the room throughout including overnight. They have been most accommodating and have bent over backwards to make it work and kept me fully informed throughout how the operation is going. The consultant was more than happy for me to ask questions both during consultations and the surgery today and has given great confidence that all will go as planned.
