About Mr Peter Lamb
Mr Peter Lamb is a Consultant Surgeon specialising in laparoscopic and robotic upper gastrointestinal and general surgery, with over 15 years of consultant experience. He has worked at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh since 2008 and plays an active role in both elective and emergency surgical care.
After completing higher surgical training in the North East of England, Mr Lamb undertook a prestigious fellowship in Upper GI Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia. His clinical expertise includes laparoscopic and robotic surgery for oesophagogastric cancer, anti-reflux surgery, weight loss surgery, hernia surgery and gallbladder surgery.
Mr Lamb is also committed to research and education. He holds an MD in oesophageal cancer from the Northern Oesophago-gastric Unit in Newcastle, and his ongoing research interests include cancer treatment, anti-reflux procedures, and bariatric surgery. He actively contributes to surgical training and is the Scotland representative to the Association of Upper GI Surgeons of GB & Ireland (AUGIS). He is a member of AUGIS, the British Hernia Society, and British Obesity & Metabolic Specialist Society (BOMSS).
Mr Lamb sees private patients at Spire Murrayfield Hospital Edinburgh, offering a patient-centred, individualised, and evidence-based approach to a wide range of upper GI and General Surgical conditions.

I recently had a clinic appointment to discuss Gallstone Surgery. Mr Lamb was very professional, the surgery was explained clearly to me allowing an informed decision, all of my questions and concerns were answered. I felt listened to and I feel in safe hands and confident as I move towards my surgery.
I consulted with Mr Lamb phone video call. He was early on the call. We both shared video which was good. Communication was comfortable. We covered the ground efficiently and I think thec all was concluded within 15 minutes
All went perfectly. Informative explanations of operation, large private room, on time and friendly staff. Off painkillers in 3 days.
Mr Lamb took time to understand my condition and clearly explained how best to proceed.
I recently had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Mr Lamb made me feel comfortable from my first appointment with him as he was knowledgeable and calming. The procedure went well and recovery was better than I expected. All members of the team were great. Incision sites are minimal and very neat.

On time (I was actually taken early) Very professional but friendly which put me at ease. I had a list of questions to ask but they were all answered before I needed to ask them. Explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. Received an e mail with a breakdown of the appointment within an hour of leaving the appointment! Couldn’t have asked for anymore.
